If you've ever played the classic "Tokyo Xtreme Racer" series back in the PS2/Xbox days, you're not going to find much new here. This game knows where it comes from and carries on that tradition faithfully. However, it does allow itself the single, most important improvement over its predecessors: the inclusion of a "Casual" mode. In the original games, no matter how much you spent on upgrades for your car, you would never be more than "just good enough" to win the next race if you didn't bring your A-game every time. Casual mode does away with this. The races are still satisfying and it's still very possible to lose (and lose you will,) but the game becomes much less of a slog and I appreciate that immensely.
like the old game but updated
funny wangan
Thanks dev
Early Access: A very, very solid racing game with lots of potential. Overall, racing battles are very fun especially with things become tense and really close. But, the AI can be a little inconsistent and sometimes you'll gap them really quickly, they'll gap you, or they crash and you gap them. When the AI works normally its very fun going to head to head. I like the wanderers as side bosses that have certain conditions to be able to challenge them, it makes you do things differently, like removing your nitrous or trying a different car. Parking battles and intrusion battles provide a little extra variety to the battles, so you're not always just challenging people on the road. I like this series' concept of it being more of a fighting game but with cars where you're trying to deplete the enemy's health bar. Graphics are decent and I really like playing with the options in the photo mode. Customization has a lot of potential but right now there's not a lot of body part options and the livery editor is okay. I would like there to be a non-static camera option as I'm not a fan of static cameras but I didn't bother me too much. This game is in early access so there is a limited car list, but I like the options so far. I will definitely come back to this game when the full release comes out soon. Full Release: Nothing new to say except enemies corner too fast, but I'm happy with this game in its full release.
Let me start with: I like this game a lot and I will continue playing it. Throwing on my favourite music and just go drive/race has been amazing for the time I have played. But I know I am easily pleased. The reason I do not recommend this game is the races itself. I don't know if that is just a skill issue BUT the handling feels off. Seeing my enemy go through every corner WAYYY faster than what I can do is kinda frustrating. I can only win races on a straight and that should not be the case in a racing game. tl:dr, I have massive understeer while my enemies go through every corner faster and with ease
ii
cars go vroom very nice
Best played with a racing wheel!
A really fun 1-on-1 highway battler that feels like a blend between racing, fighting games, and RPG games with its dialogue-heavy NPC interactions, tuning, and ability to challenge anyone (not just the members/bosses) you see.
