Very sweet experience! Good game!
I wanted to like this game a lot more than I did (thus far) I was recommended this and on paper, it sounded like a recipe for something I would love; Falcoms games with a persona twist (ignore the fact that's basically CS1). However, I'm putting it down like a dog FOR NOW after reaching nearly the end of chapter 3 due to a culmination of stuff. I don't really think the games premise was all that bad so far. Morimiya is a charming setting, and Falcoms signature with memorable NPCs their own storylines and notes and I think this was actually done really well so far. The OST I have heard so far is actually pretty decent too, and I thought the alternate dimension dungeon crawling and the plot threads created thus far were actually pretty interesting with the various factions and I thought the switching POV with the white masked guy was a very cool storytelling feature. It all felt like bits building to a worthwhile overarching narrative. However, almost 5 hours in, I couldn't be invested enough to push through the games shortcomings. My biggest issue was probably the cast so far, I don't necessarily dislike them but they're pretty uninspiring, they didn't really feel like people and more like caricatures of anime archetypes. This is not inherently a problem, as Trails is troupe heavy at times as well. However, I felt those games had a sincerity that gradually made those characters much more compelling beyond initial impressions, and I can't really say I reached that point so far. The gameplay was probably a huge factor too, I'm playing on keyboard so keep that in mind, but the combat didn't feel satisfying in the slightest, I thought the transition between characters was pretty awkward, like you would just kill momentum and it felt pretty mechanical, as in combat, there was like basically zero synergy between characters except AFAIK when you burst and they come on field for like a small bit. Other than that, It just felt like inactive members were waiting their turn to deal with their respective elements rather than meaningfully contributing. This kinda segways into the final nail. Gameplay felt really compartmentalized and imo it just kills immersion when you've been playing a game for 5 hours and it feels like an extended tutorial when Hiiragi namedrops a fighting mechanic and says yeah you can do that now. Its a small thing but It felt like parts of the game were made seperately and clumsily joined together. The ideas aren't bad, I just don't think the experience as a whole is naturally cohesive enough. I DO want to emphasize that I have only played up to chapter 3, and to be fair I have heard that the second half of the game is where everything begins to properly come together, so I am definitely not finalizing this and If It wins me over I will revisit what I wrote here happily For now tho, its a game that has ideas but didn't quite click for me
This game might not be as stylish as say Persona 5 but the relationships are much more realistic and the story progression makes much more sense. All the love is in the details and it has its own unique charm
😍😍😍😍😍
Tokyo Xanadu eX+ is basically Persona on the outside but Ys on the inside Gameplay Loop STEP 1. You go to school STEP 2. Talk to NPC STEP 3. Talk to NPC STEP 4. Go to work as a Kamen Rider STEP 5. Back to Step 1 The game is not "OMG THIS GAME IS THE BEST JRPG EVER I CAN BE SINGLE FOR LIFE" But it's fun and enjoyable enough if you just want to play some Action JRPG I will give this game 7/10 Just because i can't romance Yukino the MILF
很有轨迹的味道
法老最狗屎的一款 ♥♥
A damm good game, and one for falcom fans. Always interesting to play a older falcom game and see as mechanics develop across games
