Thunder Helix - a tiny file of Desert Strike but 3D, helicopter sim https://youtu.be/34Zu1XUAWq4?si=drRWp1bG73I0zhSz The sun rises slow, casting shadows long, In the desert's embrace, where winds whisper wrong. A hummingbird’s cry, the sound of steel— An attack helicopter, ready to feel The breath of the sky, the weight of the fight, Into the void, into the light. A mission of mercy, yet war’s cruel call, To rescue the fallen, or see them fall. The desert beneath, a sea of sand, Where remnants of freedom take their stand. In the distance, the wrecks of battles past, The brave who fought, their shadows cast. A fire to reclaim what was lost, A world now shadowed by tyranny’s cost. The helicopter rises, its blades cut the air, Against the winds of doom, without despair. Beneath it, the ground is scarred and torn, Where heroes once stood, now battle-worn. Enemies gather, in massive array, Tanks line the horizon, awaiting their prey. Anti-air missiles line the sky, And warriors with fire in their eyes. But none know the force that is soon to descend, For justice will come, and bring its end. The chopper hums low, a predator’s pace, Its guns locked and loaded, prepared for the chase. The heat of the desert is felt in each breath, The threat of annihilation, the weight of death. It’s not just a mission—it’s freedom’s last stand, To push back the darkness, to reclaim the land. Democracy’s voice, though bruised and torn, Will rise once again, though battered and worn. The chopper’s blades whirl, slicing the air, As it descends through the heat, without a care. The enemy’s eyes, sharp as a hawk’s, Do not yet know of the coming shock. The guns roar, a thunderous sound, As rockets fly and shake the ground. A target is hit, a tank is lost, A warrior’s life, a victory’s cost. Missiles fire, tearing the sky, But the chopper is swift, it dodges and flies. No easy target, it weaves and turns, As fire below, through the desert, churns. The fight rages on, fierce and fast, But the helicopter knows it must outlast. For the soldiers below, their lives to save, For the ideals they fight for, so brave. The chopper’s guns roar, unleashing hell, Each shot a toll, each burst a spell. The enemy forces, once so bold, Begin to scatter, to fold and hold. The tanks burn bright, the warriors flee, The desert is now a victory’s sea. The helicopter soars, its mission clear, A symbol of freedom, the end of fear. The remnants below, they rise and cheer, For they know their rescue is near. The helicopter’s blades hum a song, As it flies away, the battle won. The desert’s blood no longer spills, As peace returns to the distant hills. A story of courage, of dark against light, Of an attack helicopter, bringing back the fight.

reminds me of my old sega genesis games from back in the day. Clearly influenced by LHX, F-22 and the Strike Series. Can't wait for more missions!
You can find anything on Steam these days, even a spiritual successor to LHX Attack Chopper. The muscle memory in my fingers kicked in because I immediately took off with the number keys: 1-2 is lowering, 3 is hoover, 4-5 and your chopper rises. THAT'S how dedicated this game is to LHX: even the keybinding is identical :D And camels are back!! All silly things aside: this game feels and plays like in the old days with some 'modern' extra's: a hook to pick up supplies is the most important one and you're gonna need them because fuel lowers rather quickly... Other than that: It's a great little game in early access that's only gonna get better. Calling all vintage choppa pilots: buy and support this gem!
An excellent retro flight sim riffing off an era when those were actually fun. Highly recommend.
Awesome throwback, the controls are really tough to get on with but it starts to become more natural after a while.
Absolute Garbage
You'll not find more fun to be had with 12.6mb while pretending you're the pilot in Desert Strike.
Basically LHX 2.0 Brings memories, I love it! Although modern high-res (like in Tiny Combat Arena) would be nice.
Off the bat, for people who are unaware, this game is not a simulator like Classic Elite or the old DOS Flight Sims. It is a very competent and enjoyable arcade style game. The Choppers were easy to control, with each having their own funny little handling quirks, and were extremely enjoyable to mess around with. The levels were fine with objectives being well explained and having a lot of detail, even had enough flair to them to keep me coming back. However, what was not enjoyable was trying to figure out the controls. That’s because this game does not have a tutorial, and it honestly desperately needs one. My first hour with this game was pure frustration and spamming google and Reddit for help. Nothing is explained, be it basic flight controls, weapons, camera controls, nothing. It’s my only gripe with the game, and it could be very easily fixed with a control scheme tab in the pause menu or even button prompts on the hud. A tip for controller players, select will toggle the camera between interior and exterior orbit cam, while holding select and pressing a face button will toggle between several different chase cameras. Would I recommend this game? Yes. If you’re in the market for some dumb fun blowing stuff up with air dropped tactical explosive camels, then go all in. Just be aware that the game isn’t very long in its current state and the controls, though well thought out, are a pain in the rear to figure out on your own.
