I was looking forward to this game up until the point I saw that the developer had posted a video telling customers to buy his game immediately and to review it as soon as possible as this will help with the algorithm. This instantly raised alarm bells for me. I reluctantly bought the game immediately. Then I played the game and now I’m reviewing it as soon as possible. The game does not play like the videos. There are maneuvers shown that you simply can’t do in the game. It’s advertised that it has a challenge mode, it doesn’t. The graphics are also a downgrade from the trailers. There’s no start screen. It just starts with a really long winded boring cut scene in a lift. To top it all off the end score screen is as boring as farts (you aren’t graded in any way like Crazy Taxi). There really doesn’t seem like there is any point to play this game. This has none of the pizzazz that Crazy Taxi has, you might as well go and buy that, it’s cheaper and better.
Who are these critics praising this game? "The best Crazy Taxi clone I've ever played" and "Love the vibe!". These statements are just not credible for this game. This is, quite bluntly, some of the worst rubbish I've purchased in a long time. It is rudimentary in every way. Not even so much as an audio volume control in the game settings and it's stupidly loud. I'm not adjusting global volumes just to play this game (I don't even use a volume control on my panel because those are "set and forget" settings to me. The sounds are an aggravating jumble, such that I can't even make out what my car's computer is saying over the music and passenger admonishments etc. The last few attempts to play this have been with my audio muted to cut down on the annoyance. The game requires a controller (as stated, but usually there are still keyboard mappings so you can at least see the game, if not playing it properly). I can use it, but I don't like game controllers and if I absolutely have to plug one in to play a game for a short time, I'm probably not going to launch that game very often, if at all after the novelty wears off. The controls are in no way customizable and there isn't even so much as a button map to look at. I had to play the tutorial to see if I was missing anything (I wasn't, it's just that rudimentary) where he said confusing things like "use your right trigger to accelerate and the south button to brake". Do I need a compass? It took me a few seconds to realize that he meant "left" as in "southpaw". There is no reason why this game couldn't have keyboard mappings, it's not as if the controls are complex. It's sheer laziness. The game lacks polish in other ways, too. For one example, my language somehow got changed to Chinese in game and I couldn't read the menus anymore. Some fumbling button press? Being rudimentary, it doesn't seem to store that setting and prompts for language at game load so I just had to quit out, though :-) There is not much to this game, it's just feels like a bit of an arcade game using the Unity engine. The "Free Roam" flashes "Restricted Area" on my screen and hobbles my altitude controls every time I turn off the main path to explore the city. What is "Free Roam" that doesn't let you roam? You have to stick to whatever paths are legitimate I guess. I thought I'd do that to get used to the car, but there is nothing to get used to. It goes about as fast as drying paint, relative to the game, even with a boost pickup and while the car is easy to control in flight, the limited controls make it ridiculous to drop altitude and coast in for a pickup. That's not fun, and I don't want to practice that arbitrary stupidity. Even following the game's rules, don't turn off, stick to the limiting altitude range, try to follow the waypoint before the timer runs out, it's boring. Not a very interesting city, it's mostly just visually the same everywhere you go to the point that I wouldn't be able to discern where I am in the city. I see the same Toronto street names on the blue signs, they aren't much help. The same billboards come up in multiple places too so they aren't much navigation help. The behaviour of the waypoint arrow is terrible, shrinking, pointing up at odd angles when inappropriate, turning colours that are then hard to see against buildings etc. The actual gameplay proper isn't fun either. I pick up and drop off two passengers in the 120s time limit and I'm "fired"? The dispatcher and the passengers are obnoxious and insulting... I want to eject them at altitude. I'm not laughing... I'm going to come right out and say that Valve should not allow rubbish like this to be promoted and sold on their service because it will turn people off on buying games. That's just enough, I don't have any more time to spend on this.

Mile High Taxi pays homage to the iconic Crazy Taxi while adding its own unique flair to the beloved concept. While it may not surpass the brilliance of its predecessor, this game successfully captures the essence of the wildly popular taxi-driving frenzy. The game works great on a steam deck too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEfj1Jm11b0 Mile High Taxi taps into the exhilarating rush that made Crazy Taxi a gaming phenomenon but in the far future where buildings reach the heavens like never before. Pick up passengers, and race against the clock to deliver an adrenaline-filled experience reminiscent of the original classic. The controls are user-friendly, allowing both newcomers and veterans to jump right into the action with ease. The responsive handling of the taxi ensures an enjoyable driving experience, although it could benefit from further refinement to match the fluidity of its inspiration.
Not fun yet. Has potential to be, but needs more work. Moving up and down is a pain instead of the fun unique feature it should be. You can't turn (or even look) all the way up or down, best you can do is tilt 45 degrees or do a painfully slow "strafe", so it's usually just a time-sapping frustration when you reach the destination then have to slowly and awkwardly spiral without even being able to see what you're aiming at. Please, add some proper flight-like controls: ideally bank, roll, spin, end up upside-down... at bare minimum, at least let us actually point 90 degrees up or down. It looks like 180 turns were added recently so maybe there is hope? The "jump up 10 floors" thing should address this problem but does't really work, it doesn't always happen, feels unnatural and you still can't see where you're going. How about making the unused "east" button turn off the car's auto stabilisation, allowing unlimited up/down steering including vertical handbrake turns, then if we end up upside down and disoriented, turning it back on rights everything? And please add an option to use the right stick to look around so if we're above or below a target, we can swivel the camera and see it. The main race-the-clock mechanic manages to recreate the worst feature of arcade games - the sudden stop, frustrating the player into putting in more coins - but we can't even do that, it's just bam, game over, restart or quit. Please, rethink this - if you're committed to recreating the arcade experience including its worst aspects at least add a game mode that doesn't just end, like maybe "your shift's over" then your earned money starts draining until you get back to a taxi point, then you bank whatever's left, see how your passengers/money per shift compares to your record then go again, adding to you bank (or getting in debt if too slow getting home)? Right now the game end is just so unsatisfying, and it doesn't need to be.
Gostei !
In short, it's exactly what it says on the tin - a quick-paced, fun and often nostalgic ride that reminds me of the good old days of arcade gaming. Nothing complicated. If you're into that sort of thing, you should definitely check it out. Controls are pretty straightforward but there's a bunch of special moves that have been challenging and fun to master. I use maybe half of them. The repetitive nature of the game is a strength and I'm finding it easy to get sucked into the rhythm of picking up and dropping off passengers. Also there's some great fitting music too. Repetitive music and play make it awesomely hypnotic when I'm in the zone. I like games I can play in short bursts and don't have to commit hours at a time, so this fits that bill. There's also a certain joy in just driving around the city at my own pace [roam mode] without a specific objective. But in the normal modes, it's fun to try and beat my previous high fare scores. Speaking of which, one thing I'd like to see added is the leaderboard. I read the dev is adding it but it wasn't there at the time of this review. It does require a controller but I'm totally fine with that.
love the cyberpunk/5th elements feelings night mode would be wild and ability to change camera perspective
Overall it doesn't quite feel like crazy taxi, it feels like its own thing. It takes the foundation of crazy taxi and evolves it into a more vertical game, which I think it nailed for the most part. Pros: -Pickup and play arcade fun. -Visuals are pretty Good and the city is cool to fly through. -multiple game modes -well mapped controls -nice learning curve -good since of speed -decent choice in cars Cons: -While the visuals are fine, I feel that the game needs better player models. -Music is basic stock music, game is in dire need of a proper soundtrack. -Lack of unlocks -Needs a local and online leaderboard!!! Overall 7/10 Can be improved with some extra work but overtime, I love it 👍
If this is how flying cars control I don't want them
