Abandoned since may 2023. no updates or anything. STAY AWAY.
Update: everything stated here is still accurate to this day. Avoid. Game is abandoned and is plagued by QOL issues that any basic survival game that is worth its salt will have down. Combat is abysmal, exploration is boring, plenty of things in the map are just inaccessible due to poor design or lazy development, and the combat ai is so bad it isn't even funny. Just spend your money on another survival game, this one is a hard pass
I hadn’t heard of the game before, it just kind of showed up on Steam, and with barely any reviews at the time, I figured it probably wasn’t worth my time. Booted it up, checked the server browser… and yeah, that didn’t help empty official servers and only a handful of players online. At that point I was pretty convinced I’d made a mistake. Decided to mess around in a solo/LAN world anyway and that’s where it completely turned around. The first thing that stood out was the visuals. It’s a low poly style, but it looks genuinely great. The art direction carries it hard, and it runs incredibly smooth even maxed out. The audio is also really well done ambient sounds and music do a great job setting the mood, especially at night when things get a bit more tense. Once I got into the gameplay loop, it hooked me. You start off weak and clueless, figuring things out as you go. Survival actually matters I died early just trying to manage thirst. Getting back to your body, learning mechanics through trial and error, and slowly progressing gives it that old school RPG feel. It honestly reminded me of classic D&D style adventures. Exploration is where the game really shines. The world feels big, with lots to discover caves, loot, enemies, and random encounters. Combat is simple but works, and progression feels earned. You don’t just unlock everything you have to find trainers, earn money, and build your character over time. Leveling is slow, but it makes every upgrade feel meaningful. There’s also a surprising amount of depth. I haven’t even fully touched things like base building, town management, or magic yet, but they’re there and seem like they add a lot to the long term experience. That said, it’s not perfect you can steal pretty much anything with zero consequences, even right in front of NPCs, multiplayer feels pretty dead (at least from what I saw), some mechanics aren’t explained well, so expect some trial and error but honestly, none of that killed the experience for me.
Rude Devs shouldnt be supported
DEAD GAME devs abandoned it 2 years ago, theres not going to be anything new. i wish we could take legal action against devs that just abandon games after taking money and promising things. dun dun dun... another one bites the dust! dun dun dun... another one bites the dust! and another one gone and another one gone, another one bites the dust!
After 6 years in Early Access it gets not recommended by default.
Думал Hytale вышел, а это не он
I started when this first came out and fell instantly in love!!! Sure there was bugs and things but for me every game has something that could be improved somewhere to make it feel like home. I took a break at 50 hrs to play some other things but came back to a whole new adventure. Some people might be put off by bugs or slow development, but not me. I enjoy each new change and a chance to rediscover old things as well as find new things. Now they are soon moving the game to UE5 and that will be a game changer for sure. It's simple yet complex. Creepy dungeons and strange puzzles. Building your own small town is a huge draw for me. They have updated the fighting mechanics and made it smooth and the lag has been fixed. Come on people what are you waiting for let's find The Warhorn together!
