amazing game. story is intriguing at first then kinda predictable towards the end, at least for me. will take new players a bit of time getting used to the gameplay but once it clicks it feels really great. some bosses and goons are still hard though even if youre already mastered the game. yooo the dlcs really spoiling you with bunch of cool powerful stuffs and new place to grind really quick to point it feels like cheating tbh. thankfully i only started them when getting into the final area, those are quite addictive too.
Scuffed af souls like, horrible soundtrack, mediocre story, not fun Do not be fooled by the "amazing level design". Half the game looks the same and is a confusing maze of mess to navigate. You will literally find like 5 doors/elevators right next to the base and they are all different shortcuts, and some shortcuts have a shortcut inside them!!!! Literal spaghetti level design and people call it good 😂 Looks pretty though

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

just too annoying, i've played so many dark souls games. This just sucks, enemies one shot you the whole time; not just the bosses. hitting you with a quick move that is impossible to block since it's a counter, does over half your health even with multiple upgrades to your health. Ya i know some people like this game, but not for me. I don't get time to learn a boss without dying a billion times, since i die in one hit per new move they do. So instead of actually enjoying a fight, i have to run back; pretty much forced to fight a bunch of people that can also 1 shot you no matter how high a level you get, and then get hit once to repeat this. Mechanically it's not bad, just whoever decided sliding across the map and up/glitch through stairs to one shot you was more damage than actually using a weapon is stupid.
played this on console and the game is great, it was on sale and i wanted to play it again on pc but ive found if your on a newer amd gpu and/or amd drivers the game suffers from extremely bad artificing coupled with horrible graphic glitches, after looking it up the nly fix was to download a file from GitHub to convert it through vulkan or something, im frankly not willing to do it in case i mess it up so im refunding and leaving a negative, if it gets fixed (doubtful) i'll rebuy and update.
Fun sorta souls-like, with a pretty unique mechanic, easier than expected but still a treat.
Great Concept! Poor Execution. If you wanna indulge in a challenging melee-combat game set in a crumbling sci-fi world, then you might enjoy your time with this game. But if you love souls-likes, especially those created by FromSoftware, then prepare to be disappointed. I love how The Surge attempts to be sci-fi Dark Souls in its own way! It's got some great systems in place that make it stand apart, like the limb-cutting mechanics, the Implant system, the way you "level up" by opening up more slots for said Implants, and the methodology behind crafting/upgrading gear & weapons. In some ways, The Surge is still tough & punishing, but its not as soul-crushing as Dark Souls is notorious for. The Surge may not live up to the expectations of Dark Souls, but they share some good similarities like opening shortcuts in the environment, methodical combat, gear customization, diverse weapon classes, dying drops all of your held currency (which can be circumvented by banking your scrap at Medbays! :O), and how doing some actions can have consequences. However, despite being thoroughly engaged in the combat, I was left feeling empty and disappointed by the end of the game. Combat, at times, can be shallow. I found that it's possible to cheese my way through most fights by blocking with a single-rig weapon, immediately retaliate with a counter attack, and rinse/repeat. Whatever system the game has in mind for "parrying" or counterattacking lacks any sort of satisfaction, probably because it happens so quickly for you to barely notice. It's not possible to permanently upgrade your base stats, which is simply left to Health, Stamina, and Energy. Instead, you'll have to use Implants to increase these stats further, and to find Implants, you'll have to explore the environment. There are no merchants in this game, and there are no other easy ways of acquiring Implants. Unless you enjoy scouring every nook & cranny like I did, you may have a hard time increasing your base stats. Crafting new gear parts or upgrading new weapons is frustrating because you need Tech Scrap (the main currency, easy to come by), but you ALSO need Mk.1 components...which you can ONLY get from enemies with low-level gear. And you can ONLY find the most of these kinds of enemies in the first area of the game, making me feel like that if I want to try out a new weapon or gear piece, then I have to go out of my way to return to the first area just to grind for Mk.1 parts. If there's a better system to circumvent this necessity to go grocery shopping for Mk.1 parts, then clearly I don't know what it is. The narrative is such a letdown. I came into The Surge to indulge in its worldbuilding/story, and eventually, seek answers to the techno-capitalist hellscape that unfolded out of nowhere. The premise that this game sets up is surprisingly relevant in 2026, when we Literally have techbro billionaires running private space companies. But by the time you reach the end of the game...it feels like nothing gets fulfilled. No payoff whatsoever. Even if you ignore the techno-capitalist angle in this game, you'll be left with more questions than answers. Part of this could come down to soulslikes stuffing a majority of its greater narrative in item descriptions or dialogue, but at least The Surge has audio logs that let you try to piece together what happened in the game's world. That being said, despite everything going against it, The Surge is a high quality game. It is far from mediocre because it tried its best to take the concept of a sci-fi soulslike in its own image. It's a great idea! But as a soulslike trying to measure up to the likes of Dark Souls, this game will be a letdown.
