Yes, I do recommend this game, but with certain conditions. This is a very crude/adult game. If you are sensitive to vulgar language/sexual subjects/drug abuse/etc. don't play it. if you can see past the over-the-top subject matter and enjoy the cool art, nice music, interesting puzzles, and such, then you'll enjoy it. I did need a guide on occasion because it wasn't always obvious what the player needed to do. All in all, I enjoyed it well enough, though I will say the crudeness went a bit overboard many times, even for me. :D
The Spiral Scouts is definitely its own thing – a quirky puzzle adventure. The puzzles are genuinely clever – some well-designed head-scratchers that feel good to solve. The art style has a certainly charming, hand-crafted feel. The music fits the weird vibe well enough. And then there's the
Outstanding Artistic Writing and Exceptional Narrative Design
By which I mean: it's not just bad, it's a relentless firehose of juvenile vulgarity and pure cringe. Think middle school locker room "jokes" written by someone trying way too hard to be edgy. Every other line feels designed purely to shock with how pointlessly trashy it is. It's... aggressively terrible. And yet... it's kind of brilliant? Alright, the developers clearly meant for it to be this relentlessly foul. Which is certainly a bold choice to commit to, you have to give them that. Come for the truly excellent game hiding underneath, the core puzzle-solving and exploration are solid. Stay, morbidly fascinated, by the most uniquely terrible, vulgar writing you'll encounter. It’s an experience, alright. Requires high tolerance for cringe. You've been warned. (Seriously, great puzzles tho.)
Rating:2/10
Completion difficulty:4/10 Do you like jokes where the whole punchline is "woah, that's gross / rude"? The humor in this game will be a lot more aligned with your tastes than mine. I rolled my eyes basically the whole time while playing this game because they can't stop making stupid jokes, with only a few that have any actual comedic potential in my opinion. The puzzles are decent but very plain and overdone, and you can't get through two before being subjected to another joke. Give it a pass unless you REALLY like gross/rude humor.
I wanted to like this game, but (or should i say butt) the second puzzle is to fart in someone's face by eating a "butt-nutt fruit" and it only gets worse from there.
Ok so game looks like this... Walk around gathering various items. Use them in specific locations. There's much attention put into wacky humor and plenty of dialogs with weird inhabitants of this wicked world. Visual style resemble of Paper Mario series where everything is essentially made out of cardboard cutout. Overall it's exploration puzzle game with plenty of walking. Can't tell I enjoyed this one but it have some dongo value. Not recommended.
Space owl always spitting facts
Stepped into this game knowing nothing about it at all, not even genre. Was surprised by the language and course humor given the graphics style. Got into the puzzles (it's a puzzle game), and really enjoyed those. They were a great balance of difficulty for me. I was able to completed all of them without getting stuck to the point where I felt like I was wasting time or needed to look something up, but I spent a good amount of time noodling over some of them. Others were fairly trivial. There's not a ton that needs doing between one puzzle and the next, other than talking to folks to set up the contrived basis for why you need to do the puzzle, which is where the juvenile jokes and language comes in. The humor was pretty hit or miss, but if you don't mind the language you'll probably get a few chuckles out of it at some point, and some head shakes at other points. Overall it's one of those "good puzzle game if you can put up with all the stuff going on around it" type games.
Fantastic puzzles, cute art. Exceptionally bad writing. Worth a play if you can pick it up deeply discounted or free. Got it as a humble choice pick.
Short-Review
Playing through the game i really thought to myself most of the time: who is this game for? It is an adventure or rather solely a puzzle game. There is no story whatsoever. You are hinted for a big revelation at the end but it was another crude ♥♥♥♥ joke. Yeah the whole game is mostly fart and ♥♥♥♥ jokes, and not good ones. It is juvenile humor, but at the same time not made for kids. The artstyle is cartoonish and "cute" yet the gameplay and some puzzles are absolutely brutal. Not recommended.
