About

The Idol was lost — but not forgotten. In this followup to the award winning detective game The Case of the Golden Idol, you are an observer that must investigate 20 strange cases of crime, death and depravity - all somehow connected. Use your detective skills to make sense of a grand mystery that unfolds across an age of hallucinogens, disco, fax machines and parapsychology.

Two hundred years after the unspeakable fate of the Cloudsley family, the Idol's legend lives on only in whispers and myth… but some are determined for this to change. Discover the mysterious forces connecting a tenacious treasure hunter, a team of scientists, the members of an enlightenment-seeking cult and corporate profiteers drawn to the all-powerful artifact.

The Rise of the Golden Idol is a new type of detective game where you freely explore each crime scene at your own pace, using logic to build your own theories. Click to collect clues and analyze each discovery to determine what happened, why, and who was responsible.

Convicted prisoners, new age cult leaders, corporate middle management and many more figures have a role to play in the wider mystery that unfolds — each driven by their own agenda. Scour each scene for key details to put names to faces and deduce their motives.

A reworked interface lets you quickly gather key terms from observations and witness testimonies, greatly expanding the depth and variety of each scenario. Upon the conclusion of each chapter, a new type of puzzle lets you revisit past deductions, recap the events of these interconnected cases, and investigate the threads that unify them.

It's more golden idol. Gameplay is pretty much exactly the same as the first game. Overall it's still good, but not nearly as good as the first game due to the story. Instead of a series of mini-cases tracking the progression of the idol like in the first game, you get a jumbled mess of disconnected out of order situations that eventually tie together sloppily, while the game expects you to have been tracking everything when it quizzes you later. Also there's inexplicably load times that are way longer than they need to be for such a low res simplistic game.
Beautiful game my fav <3
great game
추리게임으로 나름 괜찮음. 하지만 메인 스토리에 큰 흥미를 못느낌. 번역 문제로 인한 힌트 추리에 결정적인 결함이 있음. 개인적으로는 soso
好玩 经典
Building on what gained the original a cult like following, The Rise of the Golden Idol delivers a thrilling, engaging and head scratching mystery to unravel, in an all-new time period, all while providing numerous quality of life improvements and an updated but still unique art style. It is not a requirement to have played The Case of the Golden Idol; however this sequel delves deeper into the fantastical world created by Color Gray Games, rewarding returning players with answers to questions they did and didn’t ask. With a challenging set of scenarios that build on each other you will once again become a keen-eyed sleuth as you uncover the Rise of the Golden Idol.
It's similar to the case of the golden idol, but with a bigger focus on the overarching plot towards the end, where it becomes necessary to reassess all information received during the game to figure out what happened. Otherwise more of the same, that is to say excellent set pieces to dissect and plenty of varied dots to connect.
A nice deduction game. I can see why it's highly raved but I felt that many of the puzzles required a very huge leap in cognitive reasoning to solve, and the intentional lack of ordering of sub-chapters was unnecessary and made it less of a joy to make sense of what was going on in the plot.
好玩的!!!虽然有些时候一头雾水,都是看到题面反推发生了什么事,但想通之后恍然大悟的感觉还是爽!
