About
“There were myriads of good reasons for shunning the nameless city, one for each strange tale passed from generation to generation.
Tales averted people from entering the city, even from getting closer to its walls, and legends say that it was older than the eldest of the pyramids; few say it was older than humanity itself. But there was no legend so old as to give it a name.”
The Nameless City is a narrative-driven first person adventure inspired by Lovecraft's short novel of the same name. It has lo-fi 3D graphics inspired by the PSX era.
A playthrough should take about 50 minutes. The game has some light puzzle elements, but the main focus of the game is exploring the ruins of the ancient city. You can save your progress and continue later, but it's recommended to play it in one sitting.

What an intriguing and well-made little game. A playable story, perhaps. Lovecraftian in the truest sense, wherein there's no corporeal entity save yourself, pondering, questioning, the things of antiquity. Things never meant for man to know. This can be finished in less than an hour, as the store page itself says, but that time is filled with cosmic dread beyond anything I've experienced in a game, and a curiousity that stirs and embeds itself in your mind. I feel changed, almost, by playing - experiencing, rather - this game. It's opened my eyes to the works of H.P. Lovecraft and given me a desire for more. I also love the use of AI generated art for the vision scenes. It's the perfect use for it - grotesque, unhuman, with neither shape nor form save that which we attribute to it. Though I can't help but ponder the unwholesome familiarity of the Nameless City, as if I had seen it before, in ages past, or in a dream perhaps. I awoke this morning with the Nameless City upon my mind, and the words of the mad poet on my lips. EDIT POST AI-REMOVAL UPDATE: The new frescoes and vision scenes are equally immaculate as before, if not more as now the game is free from AI use. Even though the AI-generated imagery worked fine in the game (not saying I condone the use of AI, but its earlier dreamlike imagery had its uses), the new art takes it up a notch, and makes the frescoes easier to understand. Also even though I was pretty thorough my first time through, I still found some new things the second time, and was still deeply immersed and distraught, in a great way. So despite being a simple linear playable story, there's replay value! In much the same way as rereading some of H.P. Lovecraft's works, like this very story. I also thoroughly like the heavy purple artstyle to the game - it feels offputting, but the mind gets used to it, and sees or creates colours through the purple. The first time through, I took screenshots of a scene with blues and grays, and bright accents and deep darks, and was baffled the next day on finding that the only colour in the screenshot was purple. "Wait, it's all purple?" "Always has been".

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Like the story it is adapted from, this game feels like something in between a dream and adventure. Game play is mostly exploration with some relatively easy puzzles. The Nameless City can be completed in a little over an hour, but I revisited it for a couple of further play-throughs. The mood, the music and the narration are all worth re-experiencing.
Jogo muito bom, e fica melhor ainda se você souber ler em inglês apesar de ser um inglês antigo e difícil dos livros do Lovecraft. Por enquanto é a melhor e única adaptação que já joguei de um livro.
a pretty short (about an hour) scary eldritch horror game. Though I would say this one isn't really trying to be scary with it's imagery. It's more about the story and the path towards the nameless city which is... somewahat underwhelming and more artsy and leaves a lot of things to be desired and upon the imagination. Well with all that said I can't say I was bored, just that I wish I could see more. The game's ending is satistactory enough, but again could have been done better, all in all this is a nice 3/5 lovecraftian pixel-ey game My rating: 3/5
A rather enjoyable experience. A little confusing at times where to go, but I liked the art and sound direction. Would have preferred there be no AI art. I get that it's trying to invoke uncanny imagery but I'm pretty sure I saw a zombie chicken at one point, and that just took me out
A very cool little game, especially if you are into Lovecraft. About an hour of gameplay, which may seem short but this is based on a short story so I appreciate that nothing was added. If you are familiar with Lovecraft or weird fiction in general, I think you will find this to be very in-line with the themes of the genre. A feeling of dread, a place best left forgotten. Very atmospheric, no enemies or jump scares. The low poly graphics are actually an interesting touch, but they could be a little disorienting at times. Also really appreciate the devs removing old genAI assets and their stance on AI in general.
Pretty true-to story adaption of the Lovecraft book, some tensions as you rush between puzzles losing sanity but is recoverable. I'd say get it on sale, you won't have much replay value 3-5$ makes sense
A short puzzle game with interesting story and good voice acting.
Very short but well made horror game. Enjoyed its slow build up and pleasant voice action.
