A very satisfying ending to the main Cold Steel story. I still don't really care for Ouroboros and feel like they take time away from the more interesting villains in the story, but that's neither here nor there. The nerfs to the break system were unwelcomed, but I easily found another method to break the combat, so it wasn't really a problem. If you enjoyed the other games in the series, you'll probably like this one, too.
This is an excellent game to finish off the Cold Steel series. First of all, do not play if you haven't played Cold Steel 1-3. Just, please don't. This game is so much better with the context from the rest of the series. In fact, preferably, play Trails in the Sky 1-2, Trails to zero, and Trails to Azure as well. In that order. But at the very least, play the rest of the Cold Steel series. To start with, the gameplay is even more polished than in the previous game. There are still many ridiculously overpowered cheeses, but that's really been a staple of the Trails franchise from the beginning. Advised difficulty is hard or nightmare. The story is well paced and contains many interesting twists and turns. The characters are memorable and likable (especially if you've played the other Trails series'. Hint hint.). I do have some beef with the romance elements which are very tacked on and more or less insignificant but it's not a romance game so I guess it's not that big a deal. The visuals are very flashy, and the music is great as always. You really feel like the setting is explored in this game, especially the setting from Trails to Zero/Trails from Azure and just Erebonia in general where you will revisit many areas you saw in previous Cold Steel games. This game is easily a 8/10, held back by the occasional moment of odd character logic and certain story decisions. But hey, at least the game has finally decided that people are allowed to die. Sometimes.
Great ending of the saga!
GOOF
Weakest game in the Cold Steel arc, still good.
Yeah. (End)
