The 6th Trails game, and the first game that takes place in the empire of Erebonia. This is also the first completely "3D" trails game, originally made for the PS Vita. This game also introduces everyone's favorite Trails lead, Rean. FAQ: "Can I start with this one? Someone on reddit said I can start with this one." No. These games are one long story, go back to Sky FC/1st.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, klasik Japon rol yapma oyunlarının yavaş tempolu anlatımını, ayrıntılı dünya inşası ve karakter gelişimiyle destekleyen başarılı bir yapım. Just came back after playing Cold Steel 4 to warn people. Don't bother. Boring slog. Extremely childish anime tropes. Also, embarrassing "harem" trope throughout the whole 4 games. Story ends up being one of the most nonsense narratives ever. Not even kidding. It is just "I planned your every move" trope exaggerated to an incredibly absurd degree. That's the whole plot. Again. Laughably bad story. Don't waste hundreds of hours. You have been warned.
If Alisa has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Alisa has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Alisa has only one fan then that is me. If Alisa has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Alisa, then I am against the world.
There undoubtedly are improvements compared to the predecessor. The upgraded quartz system is certainly one of them and so is the 3D engine. But so many weaknesses remained, they almost became essential defining elements by now. I can't tell how often I was frustrated when the protagonists just kept walking and walking in some scripted scenes. All the zoom in and zoom outs are almost as tiresome. It's just a ton of time wasted without anything happening at all. But I very much appreciate the new map system, allowing us to teleport to pretty specific locations. So in some regard the devs learned to appreciate our time. Deja Vus are a mixed experience. Meeting some well known characters again is often sweet. But once again getting a quest to wear some new shoe prototype for x steps ... really? Oh well, still a promising start into a new era. And I can't wait to see some actually new greater events. So far Cold Steel just offered the Erebonian perspective of already established events at a global stage. 79/100
->Cringe illogical story ->Destroyed the unique and cool orbment system from the previous games ->repetitive and unnecessary long
Fine game on it's own, but you will need to play the next awful 4 entries to fully finish the story of this saga. It's honestly not worth the overall rage that the upcoming games will make you feel to justify playing though them. Accept that the trails series consist of only the sky trilogy and Crossbell duology while forgetting about the 3d games.
This game is a great entry to the franchise that serves as a well-deserved breath of fresh air. The controls and general handling on the overworld is bothersome, but aside from that, I feel the new engine is great. The battles are very fun and relatively more interesting than the predecessors. The orbment changes are weird and I don't know how to feel about them, starting almost from scratch is cool in the first half of the game but after that it loses the appeal. This game prioritizes strength (laura) over all else and I think it makes the balancing very lopsided, I don't really like it. A lot of this game is repetitive, and the story struggles the most from this. It doesn't have any crazy big story reveals because it is a "prequel" to the preceding game, and that leaves the game feeling awkward with relation to its place in the story. The extra perspective towards the Crossbell incident is really interesting, especially coupled with the Empire's propaganda towards reporting it. The structure of the game is nice and makes it a lot easier to binge, the sidequests being in smaller demand is great, too. I don't care for any of the characters yet but I like Fie and Towa. Rean so far is a bit of a better Lloyd, but I still don't care for him much lol. Each character gets a little arc and it works for them. This game was better than Azure maybe, I hope CS2 is good!
