This game is a love letter to slasher films like Scream. I enjoyed the story line, it feels like an interactive movie. I finished it in about 5 hours and am just going back to get all the achievements. Such a great game.
Absolutely love the visuals, atmosphere, mechanics, and the rich story this game has. I definitely will be playing through this game again.
I just completed the game. Its such a wonderful experience. It is a very unique type of horror and thriller game I have ever played. I played this game only at midnight for the immersion and the rain here made it even better. I think midnight is the best time to play this game. The game has some of the best voice acting I have ever experienced. This game gives you a type of experience that you crave from a AAA game. I am glad I got this game. A MUST PLAY TITLE!
loved the color scheme of the game. the VAs exceeded my expectations at bringing the story to life since it is based on imagination. however, the story is less than okay (very predictable and gets boring at times). the dialogue was fun albeit wouldnt recommend replaying it after the first run. its a one time thing if you like slasher movies honestly.
Killer Frequency
This game is not bad, dont get me wrong, but the amount of times I wish I was there alone, without the annoying „colleague“, that not only does nothing important, but some of the scenarios when you have to risk your life because of her idiotic behavior (she just threw a record off her window, for no paticular reason, which you are then forced to recover (IDK WHY SHE DOESNT GO FOR IT)), and with her contribution to the night being near zero, I wished I was really alone there, for the whole time being. The plot is interesting to begin with, but some parts make me question the absurdity of itself. What I hated, is the urgency of the situation, while your character takes time to introduce the radio station each and every time to the potential emergency caller, which pissed me off. The game in general is fine, nothing bad about it, the psychological horror effect worked quite fine, and the story climax had a nice spark for me. I like that you can let the corrupt ones die, the game doesnt force you to anything (not counting the annoying „fetch me something from down below“ quests lol). What I liked and enjoyed were some puzzles that this game has, also the game can be funny sometimes, especially with some other non-emergency calls. The concept in its entirety is fine and really fun to go through, the map you have in studio, collectibles, soundbar and the studio has an interesting vibe to the story. I would enjoy to have even more puzzles and minigames in upcoming games. Maybe some expanded map for the next games too. I would also welcome the final board of all the people you helped and saved/“killed“ to be present in the game too, just with the characters anonymised until you talk with them, maybe with some short descriptions to each person too. The story was quite linear, so I would like more reoccuring characters in the story, what i mean is that you might help someone twice or more times.
SCORE

Visuals: 4/5 - Quite pleasant environment with horror setting ambient. Worked fine on me.
Story: 4/5 - I have enjoyed the story and the characteres, although I have hated some (especially peggy), some on the other hand were amazing.
Replayability: 1.5/5 - I would say that the game is worth replaying only if you want the different endings or to save /kill different figures/characters. Maybe if you want to 100% the achievments.
Gameplay/Enjoyability: 3/5 - Quite unique playstyle, "innovative" for me, Wish the soundbar would interact more with the callers.
Final score: 12.5/20, not bad, not bad.
Final declaration
With all that said, I liked the game and I am looking forward for its next titles. I am giving it not recommended because of the stuff I had listed above. Not neccesarily meaning that this game is bad or not enjoyable, just that the games has its weak parts. To conclude I want to thank to the whole Team17 for this game, I enjoyed it, and I will be on lookout for similar games, preferably from the same studio 😉.
While Killer Frequency has an interesting premise, actually playing the game was unfun. You play a radio DJ in a small town while a serial killer is loose on the streets. Because the local police are dead you serve as the town's 911 for the evening and your job is to direct them to safety using various clues and puzzles you find throughout the radio station. This is all neat! However, actually playing the game boils down to standing around and listening to people talk on the phone and occasionally choosing a dialogue option, but it's mostly standing around and listening. While that is going on you can shoot and infinite number of paper balls into a basketball hoop trash can. I spent an hour with the game and got through the first two phone calls. On the third, when I realized this was just what the game was, I quit. The writing isn't the best and that severely hurts a game that is completely reliant on you listening to it. I wanted to like this game, but it's not for me. If you're a fan of visual novels and maybe even walking simulators, but there isn't much of that either, you might enjoy this game.
good story, if you didn't find or fully understand the clues that reveal the killer it doesn't really make sense, and the game doesn't make it super clear unless you look closely at what seems like filler content
Absolutely fantastic game. I love the atmosphere and the feel of the gameplay and world. Not too awfully scary. More creep than anything.
This is your host, Forrest Nash, and you're listening to 186.16 - The Scream. 😱 Music slaps, artstyle slaps, setting slaps, story slaps, Dawn slaps, vibes are immaculate. Just wish there was an achievement for paper ball baskets made from desk 😔
