Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
11 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
This game will not run on modern hardware. In order to play this game you require a fix/mod from nexusmods called: "Prototype2Fix - CrashFix - FPSFix - FrameDouble fix" Frankly I think the mod creator should be getting your money, not the people leaving a broken game up forgotten on steam with a franchise they've let disappear. However, this is a very fun game. The story is campy as hell, but there are not a lot of games which really do the feel of what this is. If you like things like the Zerg, the Beast from Homeworld Cataclysm/Emergence, the creature from The Thing, the creature from Carrion, or any of those biological entity monsters like that... there aren't a ton of games which really capture that feel. This one does it, and wraps it in an overpowered protagonist. If this genre wasn't barren I'd probably give it a thumbs down just due to the game being literally broken without a player made fix. However, this genre is one I love and with the fix it runs just fine.

11 on sale4 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 4 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 11 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For the price they're asking for an old game, it would be nice if Activision were kind enough to fix the game. Infinite loading screen of death
PLEASE MAKE PROTOTYPE 3 feel like a little kid again looking up any and all information i could get on a possible sequel
I honestly don’t get why so many people prefer Prototype 2. Yeah, the gameplay is smoother and the game itself is more polished, but it feels like it completely loses what made Prototype special. Mercer was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome in the first game. He was mysterious, cold, and you never really knew what the hell he was. And the best part was that we discovered his powers together with him. You start as basically some random guy who can barely understand what happened to him, and slowly turn into this insane biological monster, a walking weapon and basically a massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem for the whole city. It actually felt like we were watching Mercer become something terrifying. It was like I experienced this story as him, that random guy...like me, and in the second one I lost that vibe. Then Prototype 2 comes along and suddenly Mercer is just the bad guy. Heller already has all the cool ♥♥♥♥, everything is explained, and the whole thing feels much more like a generic revenge story. Turning Mercer into a villain after the first game is honestly one of the dumbest decisions they could have made. Prototype 2 is fun, but Mercer alone makes the first game way more memorable for me.
Algún día saldrá el 3, esa esperanza nunca va a morir
Game won't even get past the autosave loading screen. I have too much pride to try and go fix it myself. I'm not the lazy one. YOU are...for not fixing it. -5
selling your game for 30 euros and not even bothering to make it work is the most stupid thing someone can do
Still good sequel at prototype series and we need prototype remastered or remake or prototype 3 or evovled
This is one of those games that you look back at and think "Holy smokes, if this was released today in 2026, It'd be GOTY" Prototype 2 is one of the best revolutionary games I've played in a while; from shapshifting into the enemy to gain access to enemy territory undetected, to slicing up people and taking taking their genetics and evolving. I hope to GOD that Activision wakes up and reboots this game. if you haven'tt tried this game I HIGHLY recommended. its one of those gems that you will keep wanting to play.
