Picking up shortly after The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Estelle travels across Liberl in search of Joshua. The journey involves more than seeking loved ones, however, as the Bracer Guild also tasks her with unraveling the mysteries behind the newly unveiled Society of Ouroboros.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Brilliant. I loved it. I recommend FC and this with every fiber of my being. Some pros and cons: PROS: This engine can be so expressive. I love this engine. The cutscenes and animations are soooo goooood. The amount of dialogue in this game is, again, astounding. Compared to the first, there's a lot more character switching and freedom to play with the characters you like. The story is fantastic again and the music is fantastic (except for one track, and you'll know it when you hear it). The new 'tilesets' and 'sprites' and abilities and animations are all awesome. MIXED: Mostly the same Liberl map from the first game with a handful of new areas. Some new areas feel empty, some are great. Combat is much harder on normal difficulty—sometimes this is fine and is a welcome challenge, sometimes it's because of annoying enemy behavior, debuffs, abilities, etc. Switching characters freely means missing dialogue for the characters you don't have with you, which feels bad at times, but it's amazing that all of those characters have unique dialogue in case they're in the party. CONS: Some of SC feels lower effort than FC. There are infrequent typos in dialogues (still more than the zero I noticed in FC). In FC, every NPC had a name; in SC, new NPCs have names like "citizen" and "passenger." I wouldn't expect any game to name every NPC, but after coming from the awe of that exact thing in FC to SC's generic names, it's a con. The constant switching of characters means the constant manual shuffling of your best gear and quartz, which is a chore. Enemies (even basic, wandering mobs) frequently have annoying abilities/stats (many healing enemies, impedes, dodge rate, etc.) that make some combat a drag. Very minor spoilers to follow. I wish I had known this before I started, but I'm spoilering it so that you can dodge it if you prefer. Early in the game, you are offered the choice to pick whether you want to travel with
Schera or Agate for the first 1/3 of the game. I picked Schera, thinking Estelle would likely choose to travel with her mentor. While that may be true in my head canon, I feel like this story would've been better served with Agate. Almost everywhere you go during this period, Agate went in FC and Schera hadn't been. Schera's dialogues are all "Oh, I wasn't here." or "I heard about that!" which sucks. I don't know what Agate's dialogues are during this portion, but I feel like he would've been more involved. DO NOT PICK SCHERA for your first playthrough, in my opinion. Thankfully, after this first 1/3 of the game is over, Schera's dialogues are a lot more enjoyable.
I loved this game (and its prequel) and am going to continue my trek through the series after I digest this one properly.

Continues off the ending of the first in such a fantastic way. You get to experiment with higher level quartz and this is where the series really makes you feel powerful.

Peak Fiction.
++ Beautiful finale ++ Great cast of characters ++ Immersive world-building that just gets more fleshed-out as you go + Challenging boss battles + Great music - Outdated visuals -- The first 30-40 hours of story are exceptionally slow -- Retreading of the previous game's map with barely any changes -- Missing quality-of-life features, especially fast-travel during chapter
8
As a sequel, Trails in the Sky SC delivers more from the same world and characters, uncovering more of their stories and developing some relationships, but reuses too much of its predecessor for the majority of the game. Particularly the early and mid-game stages require you to revisit locations while slowly introducing the antagonists one at a time, making those parts feel repetitive and dragged out for the sake of content. It's only the late-game that really takes off with the most compelling arc in the series so far, culminating in some epic (very anime) clash of characters and a beautiful ending. If the rumoured remake is any good, I recommend that over this version for the improved visuals and quality-of-life updates. 7/10
If you have game freezes or black screen, play with fixed 60 fps, it solved the issues for me. Review wise(after completion, I finished this game), imho play the remade/remastered game when it comes out. This has not aged well at all, this game doesn't play very well and is lenghty af. The story and chara design are ok, but it really has aged poorly.
