(I am leaving my first review from 3 days ago. At the end I posted why I changed my review to negative). I started playing MMORPGs shortly after Everquest launched almost 30 years ago. Since then I have played at least dozens. DAoC/WoW/Anarchy Online/FF14/etc etc. I got to be honest. I am completely shocked I am enjoying this game as much as I am. I started this game at exact same time as GW2 recently and ESO is winning my time. People are nice, crafting is a lot of fun, and the amount of stuff to do is just insane. Edit: Changing my review 3 days after I posted it. Here is update Today senior talent, senior gameplay designers, and even the studio founder were fired by Microsoft. Apparently, making 200 million dollars a year isn't enough for them. So they have gutted the team that made/maintained/updated this game. As mentioned on my review I been playing MMORPGs for 30 years and seen how this unfolds. I've seen it happen often. People see "50% cut to staff and main team fired" it creates a death spiral. When this happens you can pretty much guarantee the games quality declines, player growth is not happening, bugs remain longer (if not forever), cash shop becomes bigger and bigger deal. In few years it will be in Maintenance mode with just very most devoted holding on until they finally close it up. If you aren't invested in this game yet there is absolutely no point in starting now. I am still going to play, but no way going to continue my ESO sub. I'll just ignore crafting (Will lose crafting bag) and see the content they have now quest wise in non DLC wise. Then I am done. Again, avoid this game. MOSTLY at 20 dollars. ♥♥♥♥ I wouldn't even buy it at 5 at this point. If Microsoft says there is no future in this game then we the players need to take them at their word since they own it.
Honestly a real fun game. I bought ESO (with all the DLCs on Steam) when it was on sale, and at first I didn't think I'd enjoy it that much, because I prefer singleplayer games, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really enjoy playing. That said, it does have some downsides. ESO+ is basically a must-have. Okay sure, you can play without it, but inventory management will be a genuine nightmare beyond what you may be thinking. ESO without ESO+ is only for people who enjoy constant back-and-forth for hours on end. Also, bear in mind that, even if you buy the game with all the DLCs on Steam, you still don't have access to all in-game content. There are a significant lot of regions that are stuck behind DLCs you either buy in the in-game store with Crowns (a currency you buy on Steam for the game), which is the very expensive option, or by having ESO+ - but the latter means that if you drop ESO+, you no longer have access to those DLCs. It's kinda BS all around. So... I think the game still earns a solid 7/10. Frankly, gameplay wise it's arguably a 10/10, but the annoying financial choices for this game drop it to a 7 for me. If that's not an issue to you, then I doubt you'll find anything to complain about this game!
Great MMO. Respects your time and so many things to do at your own pace.
Great MMO its a shame that they all have the same problem. Kill x of these, Run to location x,y,z, pray for loot drops. I will say this is one of the top MMOs tho and highly recommend it. Just wish for something new GW3 might scratch that itch and bring us something new
The game concept is really good. There are tons of dungeons that make it fun to play for a while, but after you get to a certain point, you only want to go into certain dungeons because most people just won't touch the so called hard dungeons because the player base is very mediocre. Raids are plentiful and the normal setting of the raid is super easy. I don't recommend this game specifically because nobody wants to do certain dungeons and specifically because the servers are not optimized and its laggy. Also allowing exploits and bugs to continue for years is crazy. If you like pvp, this game is definitely not for you either, you will combo'd for your whole health and you won't see the enemy player doing anything besides 1 ability when in reality, they did 10. That's why the servers are terrible.
I started playing ESO again after few years and I couldnt remember why I stopped. After 14 days I am sure I know why. So many downtimes. There are maintanance days (literaly). I had multiple login server issues (EU) during that 14 days. I don't mind paying for mmo with so much content but this is just unacceptable. There are MMOs with basicaly zero downtime (looking at you Guild Wars 2 - not a single downtime in like 14 years) and no subscription. If you are looking at stream with developers, there is no metion about this so I am sure they don't want do anything about downtimes. So happy they are reworking classes when you cant even play a game. Fix your servers. This is a joke.
most complete mmo on the market, Heartbroken for all the developers who were laid off, F microdoft
is fun
