Use Plot Tokens to claim or extend ownership of a plot of land for one month....Land I already bought through supporter packs. Nearly 100 bucks worth. Now I have to pay tax to keep using the land. Not what I signed up for. Devs got greedy. I left. It's not a bad game it's just not worth paying to keep playing, I already invested in your idea. I shouldn't have to pay extra to keep what I already paid extra for.
why would you wanna play a game you gotta pay for land in game the game is fun as hell but paying for land is bs i give it a 1 star because of that
Pax Dei is very much a "you get out what you put into it" kind of game. If you come in looking to have fun, meet people, and create your own adventures, there's a lot to enjoy. Just use your creativity. Yes, development can feel slow at times, but many players are rushing through content, thinking thats it. It's refreshing to play a game where you don't have to sprint to the finish line only to ask, "What now?" The journey itself and the people you meet along the way is the experience. During my time in the game, I've seen the community create all kinds of events and activities: competitions, races, PvP tournaments, hide-and-seek, musical chairs, chimney-jumping contests, spontaneous riots, and even a rave party in the Lyonesse (PvP zone) during Early Access. I've watched people laugh so hard they could barely play, and I've heard countless stories of memorable adventures, achievements, and unexpected moments. For many of us, that's the true value of the game. There's is unfortunately a lot of misinformation about the monetization. Despite what some people claim, you can absolutely play and enjoy the game with just the base game. A subscription is not required. Players can maintain a "Grace Plot" using in-game currency, and a dungeon run or an occasional resource run through the PvP zone can provide more than enough to keep it active. Once you start building connections with other players, you don't even need to maintain every crafting station or resource processing prop on your own plot. Pax Dei shines when it's treated as a social sandbox rather than a race to endgame. If you enjoy player-driven experiences, community events, and making your own stories, there's a good chance you'll have a great time here.
Joined the game, walked around for 30 minutes, ran into someone. They told me to keep running around and you'll run into more people. Kept running ran into a woman building a house, I told her I was looking for people to play with. She took me back in the same direction I came from. Introduced me to the guy I just met. An hour and a half ago. Left them and walked a different way for 2-3 hours. Lots of big empty beautiful cities with absolutely nobody and nothing in them. I would barely consider this game to be a MMORPG but more like a crafting game with some rpg components.
I paid $75 for the tippy-top version of the game when 4 plots of land to build on were included. I find it ludicrous that hey are now charging extra for even one plot of land. It was fun and all, but not worth a monthly fee just to have your own place to craft. Uninstalled and won't play again unless they change it.
I really wish I could recommend the game, played it during early access with the biggest pack which gave 4 plots for the duration of the beta, at the time, it was worded as if we'd get those plots even in the actual game, but at this point, I'm not here to split hairs on wording that is no longer visible. Rather, the game has been released for nearly a year in 1.0 now ; I came back to SEE what they changed, wondering, I do see they made one plot possible to keep free through Grace and activity, not bad, still think it's stupid in a way though, since progression at large widely REQUIRES a plot, always has, likely always will, and since Grace is earned by being active over time, it means you would start the game with... No way to progress for the first while, unless they now gift grace when starting enough to support a plot, still seems to me like a stupid way to force people to log in even if they are busy, but again, not here to split hairs at this point. But the greatest cardinal sin here is that I look at the patch notes and... Oh look, they recently fixed the crafting XP being so dang low... That was something that was requested since the first few days of early access... And hey, they made an archery update, likely making it more useful and relevant... AGAIN something requested since early access. Nearly all their patch notes are things that were brought up during Early Access and SHOULD have been fixed before the 1.0 Will I likely try to play the game again just to see? Probably. Will I update this review if it turns out it's much better than I expect? Yes. Do I think I'll have to update it? No, I don't think I will.
Tried it out a while back during a free week. Functionally it is a cool game, but they are trying to leach money out of the player base with plot tokens that you have to continue to buy every month. There is not an alternative to this. If they did something like rust, where you have to keep a supply closed stocked, it would be fine. If they just sold cosmetics, they would probably make more money with the continual player base that gets sucked into grinding out games like this. Great game if it wasn't for the core element being pay to play. It's unfortunate really...
I really can't say much about the game, because I spend most part of my play time in the character creation, which is really nice. But then comes the rude awakening as soon as we pick up the first wood and stone and open that hammer. Wham...you need a token for your land plot to keep it alive. Wonderful, a different name for a subscription model.....well, that did it for me right there and I decided NOT to play this game any further, before I let it happen to get lured into yet another money pit. So I just accept the loss of the purchase price and add Pax Dei to the moth ball chest on the attic, where it will rotten and get forgotten like all those other money pits publishers try to rip of people these days.
Got one of the supporter packages. Played about three days and quit. There's nothing here to do. There's no purpose. And apparently the land I got with the supporter package, I now have to pay to upkeep. Nah.
