Feels sad they ditched this game left without fixing the performance issues
Straight up rug pull in disguise as nostalgia. Not a single bug fix and no performance updates after all this time is insane work. Game fails to work anymore, and the recommended minimum specs are an absolute joke. Game ran semi normal the first couple months and now its unplayable. Dont waste your money, just play the original.
The developers abandoned this game after only two updates.
Einfach frech.
Despite all the negative comments received by this game i bought it when the current Summer Sales started. I said ok, in case of issues i will ask a refund. Well, in ~34 hours of gameplay I didn't have even one crash. Yes, there is some stuttering but this is a rare exception and not the rule. Basically the game is pretty fluid and very playable. I'm using several non-script mods from Nexus too (Engine.ini included) and everything is fine. I'm playing at constant 60 FPS outside and at 100 FPS (G-sync on) in dungeons with everything on High settings, RT off and DLSS on even if my system is not top: - i5-11500 - RTX 5060 8 Gb - 32 Gb DDR4 - 1 Tb SSD - Windows 11 I don't understand how players with much more powerful PC's cannot run this game. Maybe some optimization is needed on their side? I don't know... Maybe I'm just lucky? I don't know... What I know is that this game doesn't deserve so many negative comments.
Comparative review between Remaster and Old Version. Pros: - Looks better. - Passive health regen out of combat. - Sprinting added. - Better levelling system. - Better combat animations. - Removed player staggering. Cons: - Physics changes made almost every trap in the game slow, anticlimactic and ineffective. - Power attacks are pretty awful now so melee combat is just light attack spam. - Runs very poorly (unoptimised) - Old bugs haven't been fixed and several NEW bugs have been introduced. - Skill threshold rewards (25, 50, 75 and 100) are now much more linear and boring whilst several fun mechanics like ragdolling and disarming enemies have been removed. - Cloud saving does not work. - Over 100GB file size (over 20 times bigger than the original). - Triple A price tag. Conclusion: There are undeniably some nice additions from the remaster, but the few cons are so significant, intrusive and hard to ignore that I would instead just recommend you play the original with a couple of basic quality of life mods. (even without mods I would recommend the original over the remaster)
Devs released a patch last year shortly after launch that killed the modding community and then abandoned the game entirely. I decided to wait a while and came back to it a year later expecting a better experience only to find out there hadn't been a patch since the one that broke most mods. which was literally like the second patch. If they'd at least kept up with the game even without fixing the issues that broke mods, I could live with that. But it's been a year since last patch. It's literal abandonware. With a game that literally uses TWO engines, that's impossible to reconcile. Oblivon was buggy enough. Frankensteining it with Unreal Engine 5 was ambitious and insane and the devs gave up instantly. And to make matter worse, they didn't even provide modding tools so modders can't even fix it. Really heartbreaking for a nostalgic game that I was so excited to play with better graphics and now it's way too late to even get my money back. Steam should offer refunds for abandonware, this is absurd. I've been gaming over 20 years and this is the worst experience I've ever had with a game. It's stunning what they've done, honestly. The devs literally just took our money and ran. Very upsetting. If games were released fully completed and functional these days, patches wouldn't be needed but studios don't release full games anymore and we just have to trust them to continue working on it AFTER we buy it. And this is the result of that system. People bought a game at full-price with the expectation it would be maintained and instead the devs broke that social contract and scammed us. They really could've just released a fully completed game if they didn't want to keep up with it but those days are over. I'll think twice, thrice even, before buying a game at or close to launch now. Apparently I need to wait a year to make sure it's being maintained.
