SOLSTHEIM IS CANCER
I had some issues when booting it up but I know it's more a hardware issue rather than the game, from the little I've played I can tell this is one of those great old school RPGs that pushes you to solve everything rather than put a quest mark, difficulty is a bit high (or so I think, starting with stealth and not knowing a lot 'bout the game doesn't help haha) but it's not frustrating either. Also there is a lot of text, I am not a big fan of that BUUUUT you get used to it quickly. I recommend having a notebook nearby tho, a lot of stuff doesn't go into the journal, some may say that is something bad but in my opinion it makes the game more immersive
Overall grade: C++ Played on steam deck via OpenMW mod as vanilla as possible Enjoyable? It’s a love-hate relationship Recommended? If you’re into open-world sandbox, action-adventure, medieval fantasy RPGs and don’t mind bugs or messy quest tracking / journal Replayability: I’d like to revisit this with mods sometime in the future to fix the issues mentioned below—with a bit of tweaking, it’ll be a 10/10 ++OST: you’ll hear it as soon as you boot the game. There are only 3 distinct tracks (if I remember correctly) but they are all bangers that nail the atmosphere ++ charming, unique, quirky and memorable overall ++compelling main story ++tons of side quests, exploration, and lore to read through (optional) ++character creation +/-the game happily allows you to figure things out on your own—that often means experimenting/using up inventory items, exploring, backtracking, spending or “wasting” time, etc. just to figure things out. If you were playing this when it came out, you would have definitely had to buy the strategy guide book from GameStop. +/-limited fast travel -stamina bar and enemy difficulty: fatigue and difficult enemies (specifically the dark brotherhood assassins) created a bottleneck for me early on. The limited fatigue was manageable but the assassin visiting you while you sleep was virtually impossible to defeat without exploiting a bug -journal is a mess: •vital details like directions, locations, or instructions are often excluded from your journal entries. I had to screen shot certain dialogue info and refer to it later because of this, though I would have preferred for it to just be included in the the journal entry •quests aren’t always updated, even if you’ve completed an objective (eg defeating a target). In these cases, it’ll only updated when you speak to the person who gave you the task. This often left me wondering if the quest was bugged or if I missed something or did something incorrectly •lacking quest tracker or an “active quest” option •every time you close your journal, it reverts back to the latest entry making it a pain to reread older notes -bugs and glitches: •the most common being NPCs blocking narrow paths with absolutely no way around them. The only workaround was pressing the “~” key and typing “FixMe” to force you forward or rest/wait for one hour and hope they move out of the way. •interacting with someone before a quest requires you to do so sometimes permanently prevents dialogue options from appearing •game breaking glitch: characters can spontaneously die for no reason at all. I had this happen mid-game, where an essential NPC, in a safe temple surrounded by allies and zero enemies, repeatedly drop dead the moment when I entered the structure. Reloading a previous save did not remedy the issue; I had to press “~” and revive her -pacing constantly interrupted by janky journal notes and bugs Steam Deck compatibility: ✅ played with openmw mod Some controller related issues that were eventually resolved with some tinkering—felt pretty good after that 5-7+hrs at full battery with max graphical settings @45fps Native resolution ✔️ Widescreen ✔️ Offline playable ✔️

"Seen any elves?"
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is a timeless classic for a reason. Its does deal with some heavy themes and subject matter, but worth the time investment if you can stomach a bit of a dated game. Nostalgia does tint my view a little bit, but it's still good.
Wish modern games still world built and told stories like this,
