like a poor mans dead space, 7/10
I avoided playing The Callisto Protocol for a long time because of all the negative reviews it received at launch. I finally decided to give it a chance, and it turned out to be one of the best gaming decisions I've made. I genuinely loved the game. The visuals are outstanding, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the melee combat is incredibly satisfying once you get used to it. The story kept me engaged from beginning to end, and I had a great time throughout the entire campaign. I also didn't encounter a single bug in more than 10 hours of gameplay. I assume that's because I played it several years after release, when the game had already received all the necessary patches and improvements. In my opinion, this is a worthy spiritual successor to the original Dead Space. It has its own identity while capturing much of what made that game so memorable. Considering I bought it on sale for less than 100 MXN, it was an incredible value. I definitely don't regret the purchase, and I'd recommend giving it a chance instead of relying solely on the early reviews.
it's clunky, infuriating, the dodge mechanic is my worst nightmare. ♥♥♥♥ my life
The Callisto Protocol is a perfect example of an inoffensive game. There was a lot of excitement surrounding the game, largely due to Glen Schofields involvement. He made a name for himself when developing the critically acclaimed Dead Space, which led to a lot of people having high expectations. If you go in to Callisto Protocol thinking its going to be the next Dead Space you are setting yourself up for disappointment. It doesn't do anything particularly great and will probably be forgotten quickly by most people. I'd say the only thing it does well is the graphic department. It is a very good looking game and its a shame I couldn't get a stable framerate using ray tracing because the game does look great with it on. The technical state of the game is mostly sound with a couple exceptions. Although the game supports unlimited frames it will break the game to a certain point. I was able to play fine up until I had to move a box and due to the framerate being too high it would not work as intended. What fixed it was capping the framerate at 120 fps. On a single occasion the continue button disappeared from the main menu. Luckily my save file was not deleted, but I had to dig into the folder and rename it to make it usable. The combat is fine for what it is, it can be a bit awkward to fight multiple enemies at once. It is very melee focused and there isn't a lot of depth to it. There are multiple weapons and they can all be upgraded, but I used the starting pistol for most of the game. Heavily recommend playing this with a controller, you will have to play wired if you want vibrations and you want vibrations because without it the combat had no feedback. There is a part where they introduced an enemy type that is completely blind. This section of the game really tested my patience. It is nothing but slowly crouching around, backstabbing them with little to no trouble. It really messed with the pacing of the game because of how long it goes on for. The game showers you with so much loot that in the beginning when you have half of your inventory you end up just throwing stuff on the ground or selling ammo just to make space. I'm unsure if the hardcore mode would have been more satisfying. I like the idea of less loot, but making enemies bullet sponges with the existing combat system sounds like a pain in the ass. The main character and the story are nothing noteworthy. I prefer when protagonists have character agency and in this you are mostly just following whatever the next NPC tells you to do. Relatively unsatisfying ending that felt very inconclusive. I know the DLC expands on what happens afterwards, but I'm not paying money for a DLC just to get an ending to a mediocre game experience. My biggest issue with the game is that it is just not scary. Glen talked about how they wanted to make the scariest game ever when developing Dead Space. Very disappointed with how not scary Callisto Protocol ended up being.
the mechanics and melee in this game is awesome, and the enemies are not too weak. the graphics are very good too

Крайне сомнительный продукт даже по скидке. Выглядит не плохо, но кроме красивой картинки нет ничего.
