Solid, mid game. If you like the XCOM games, you will not be finding the same experience here. I think other reviews are far too critical, this game feels like what you might expect out of a B-team development studio working on a main franchise spin-off. Gameplay: Okay, the shooter aspect is mostly just point and click with nothing too special going on. The abilities also feel pretty unimpactful. You'll be spamming the same skills throughout the game without much variation, and unlocking new ones never feels like a major power increase. Story: Pretty generic, with a very cliche twist near the end. The main character is very unlikable and there are a lot of moments where you, as the player, have made a dialogue choice and then the characters completely 180 on the decision that you made. There are a lot of rushed sections and the story expecting you to care about a person you've known for like 10 minutes. I was more fond of the random skill bots that I brought with me to each mission than many of the story characters. 6/10. It was a little buggy but nothing gamebreaking.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The game isn't unenjoyable, my complaint is that it's mostly unplayable. I like the whole 50's vibe the game has going on and it feels similar to the newer 3D Xxom games when I enjoy. They went more FPS with this game which I'm not really enjoying, I prefer more of the turn based combat in the other games. You squad kind of sucks. I'll direct them to target an enemy but like 90% of their shots miss, so if you want to anything dead you have to do it all yourself for the most part. But for the most part the game play is fine. Unfortunately, getting the game to run is a pain. I'm using an ultra wide monitor, the game shows an option the correct resolution, but I'm not able to see the full screen. So in certain menus I wasn't able to see what button I needed to click to add a squad member to my team without a bunch of trial and error. Eventually i dropped the resolution down to 1920x1080 and this allowed me to see what had been missing, but this also made the game look so much worse. I ran into a lot of visual glitches, like screen tearing. At one point early in the game I needed to get into an elevator but whenever I got into the elevator the game would either freeze or crash. I found a post mentioning the same issue and they suggested turning off Phys X, which worked, I was able to get past that section afterwards. But the game still randomly crashes on me. The audio at one point completely stopped working, so I had to shut the game off and restart it. During one of the missions the game became super laggy, like 20 FPS. I'm using an RTX 4080 Super, 12700k, and I have plenty of memory. I'm at a point now where I finished an away mission where I killed a Titan, I've been picked up and supposed to be going home, but as soon as the cutaway shows up with me in the helicopter the game freezes. So I think I've hit an impasse. If the game would work without having to constantly mess around with graphic settings I would recommend it but it's too much of a headache trying to keep it working.
A mixed bag of everything. Had a lot of fun blasting aliens, "tactical" squad commands are fun and for the length of the campaign it only started to get boring by the end of it. Setting and atmosphere is amazing. If you try to shoot everything yourself you will run out of ammo, so you have to use your squad. There is plenty of weapons so if you go around blasting you will be forced to try them out. Story is... there. Imagine movie "Independence Day" but in the 60s. It plays out OK if you accept that it is "comic book story" essentially. Had problems with game crashing, disabling PhysX helped with that. Music would glitch out sometimes, breaking the immersion. AI sometimes would misinterpret the command and run head straight into enemy fire, dying in the process, which got pretty annoying. Overall I really liked it, but it's quite rough around the edges.
Rating 7.5/10 Overview: Cover Based- Third Person Shooter The Bad: - Your teammates are completely useless. First they don't manually use there abilities, you have to manually select them for them to use it. Some people may like this, I did not. The second major problem is that they make very stupid decisions resulting in death. The pop out of cover at the wrong time and get shot at, move to locations where the enemies are, etc. The third major problem is that they do very little damage, 99% of the kills will come from you. For a game that is supposed to be a "tactical" shooter , there is nothing tactical about it. Because of the stupidity of your teammates the game plays out like a solo third person shooter. You only have teammates to choose their abilities. The Good: +I really loved the 1960's American setting. Both artistically and technically the developers did a good job making this game feel alive. +The game takes place across a series of locations each one unique in its own way. The game has a lot of good set pieces +Side quests are fleshed out and fun to play + The game allows you to take 2 squad members with you into battle. You can customize your squad any way you like. There are four classes to choose from: support, sniper, engineer, and commando. Each class has its own set of abilities and weapons to choose from. You pick whatever you want to suit your playstyle. + The game has a wide variety of abilities not only for the main character but your squad as well. The abilities are varied for each class and serve a very practical purpose in battle The Average: The story starts off strong and is constantly building up to something...problem is, the story starts getting too convoluted for its own good. Eventually it gets so ridiculous it becomes hard to care about the story. By the end of the game I was playing it just to see the next setting. The characters are also one dimensional and a bit stereotypical. The game doesn't do a whole lot to change up the game play formula. Every side quest/main mission plays out the same way, kill lots of enemies, move on to the next area...repeat. Conclusion For all the fun I had with this game, it does have some serious faults. I would have liked to see more variety in the gameplay and stronger A.I. I still think its worth playing especially if you like cover based shooters.
Games like this deserve a “meh” option on Steam. It’s not awful, but I don’t really recommend it. The story atmosphere is good, but the story is bland and every character, except maybe the Aussie scientist, is stupid and unlikable. They make bad choices at every opportunity. There is one neat story idea near the end, but that would have been better used in a game where you actually make any choices that impact the course of the plot. The combat was fun at first, but got repetitive fairly quickly. There is probably more depth to be plumbed out of the game than I got in my one play through with a sniper and engineer squad, but you are not really incentivized to mix up your tactics. I never lost a squad member unless it was a total loss and I restarted from the last checkpoint. I’ll add that the repetitive combat wasn’t helped by the length of time between checkpoints. I frequently put the game down out of frustration after finding how far back I had to go when a long encounter ended with a muton landing behind me and killing my entire party. The real missed opportunity was the standard X-Com setup where the base segment and mission segments feed into each other. Any of the same research or management segments in the base to give you better equipment or abilities would have made those sections more than pseudo interactive cutscenes. As it stood, the only through line between them was that your squad members are just as idiotic in combat as the story characters are outside of it. I suppose I should appreciate the consistency in world building, but I mostly just wanted to let the aliens win, and then go play actual X-Com. 3/10, will probably entirely forget I’ve played this one.
Fun Gears of War clone in the 1960s. Probably as close to a Men in Black game as we're gonna get. I liked how vibrant and detailed this game was. Definitely was refreshing visually compared to lots of other games of this time and definitely compared to all these demon clown paywall fps games now. Seeing how this is an unreal engine 3 game, the depth of field and textures could look a bit blurry, but I think the lighting and color palette helped them not look so distracting. Texture quality isn't a strong suit, but it looks pretty good. Took me about 15 hours to beat the game and some side missions, so it was definitely not some short one and done shovelware game. Felt fairly complete and polished, but admittedly wasn't very original other than being kind of a Men in Black game. I only ran into two bugs during the whole game. One bug at the end, that being the audio for the pre-rendered cutscenes just stopped at the 4th to last mission. So the last 4 hours or so of the game just had silent movies playing for no understandable reason. Other than that, the frame rate was a bit iffy at 1440p, so lowering it to 1080p fixed it. Which, seeing how I can't notice any difference between those two resolutions anyway, it didn't bug me at all, although it was a bit odd to see a 2013 game made for Xbox 360 stutter and lag to like 10 fps in a cave when I went to an alien tower with Dr Weir. Two things I didn't like were how the AI kept running away and disobeying orders to take cover, and how low res and blocky the pre-rendered cutscenes looked. When the in game cutscenes look better than the faked CG ones, that's odd. Usually the faked ones are where you lie and make everything look too good, but this was a rare case of the opposite being true, the pre-rendered ones often reminded me of low quality FMVs from command and conquer, or old youtube videos from 2006 at times. That bad. Did they render them at 240p or something? Don't know, don't care. Anyways, fun game that I enjoyed my time with, but it's probably not worth buying. Unless you like the 1960s and aliens, but there are tons of games that do that better. I mean, even the other XCOM games do the actual XCOM strategy stuff better. If not for the squad commands, this probably couldn't even be called XCOM. That's really how shoddy and barebones the ties to XCOM are. Don't buy for more than $2, basically. And don't buy DLC for 10 year old games. If you want my advice, just pirate old games like this, you should save the money for food.
This game is Freedom Fighters 2 with aliens and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ genius! They've managed to seamlessly integrate classic XCOM gameplay into a real time setting. Very underrated!
