Recommend with a two caveats. 1) This is a good game. But it's a small game and probably only worth buying while it's on sale. 2) This is not a game you can 'win'. It's effectively a score chaser game. In board game terms, it'd be a Solitare Euro. Now, it is quite difficult and that helps it be interesting but ultimately it's a game where each run lasts an arbitrary number of turns and your goal is to score as high as possible in that duration. If this isn't an objective style you can hack, I would not recomend you pick this up.
You think Slipways is a super relaxed and chill game where you just connect a couple of planets? Well yeah, it is. It's exactly that. But. Oh boy. I'm not sure if this is because the wiring in my brain is not attuned to slipways or if it really is more complex than I initially thought. Ok ok, let's take a step back. Slipways is... a trading game? Probably. Or a space colonization. Both and more. We work towards some goal (campaign) by colonizing and connecting planets. Like you want humanoids? Ok they need some resource. Or maybe two. Which you in turn get from another planet. Most likely not produced by humans, so gotta add another one. And hey, ones delivered the planet upgrades and wants more stuff - different tho! And you can't (unless you unlock it) get the same supply from the same planet twice. AAAAAAH. So MORE expanding! More planets. More needs. More... Wait, I also have a mission goal? Dang it. *slight tableflip incoming* Na, I'm kidding. It took me like the first 4 or 5 runs to figure out how to do it. (A round is ... supposedly short. Unless you play like I do, with loads of staring, thinking, rewinding, more staring.......) It took even more to feel like I possible *can* play the game... well enough to feel confident to complete the missions. Ha, jokes on me. Turns out one of the final campaing missions actually screwed me and I had to redo it ( D: ). I didn't return to the normal difficulty tho and stayed in baby mode <.< I confess I was a bit over it with the last two. And I finally used the skip the year button - which you normally just use if you're out of money or stuff. Still. I like the idea. And it IS relaxing and chilling. Kinda. xD

Overall I found this game to be just... fine, not much more. There's really only one core mechanic you are working towards, and it never really changes. This is an arcade-style game with 60 minute runs, but so little changes each time, it's a randomly generated map and that's largely it. I got 4 stars (and was a single month away from 5 stars) in my third run and I don't think I'll be returning, there simply doesn't look to be much left to do. The campaign is more of the same, and the single game mechanic is not compelling enough to warrant coming back with only minor variations each time.
Honestly one of my favorite puzzle/management games. Owned it for at least 3 years now, and I keep coming back to it every 6 months. Everything is well produced. It has a wide ranges of difficulty options. All the different techs and research are interesting. It's quick to grasp but hard to master. I'll keep coming back to it.
This is the right "amount" of game. In a world where every game seems to keep conjuring up a black hole of endless new stuff that wipes out the original meaning, here stands a game with defined parameters, and challenging puzzles that can be solved many ways.
Fun little game. Absolutely ♥♥♥♥ some of the campaign levels though
Exhale bro, exhale
It's a pretty solid game. Multiple modes, lots of difficulty adjustments, and it really becomes second nature after a short bit while still maintaining a high skill ceiling. I bought this while it was on sale and don't regret it at all.
Do you like rogue likes? Do you like strategy games? Do you like empire building? Do you like logistics? Do you like space? If the answer is yes to any number of theses things, give this game a shot. I have over 100 hours in the vanilla game withought mods, I haven't even touched the campaign. I can't recommend this game enough
This game is super relaxing and is designed in such a way that it is a massive, emerging puzzle thats incredibly unique each time you play.
