Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 31.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Graphically impressive for its time, optimization issues non-withstanding. But it is a shallow experience, style before depth. Gameplay soon becomes repetitive, and there are some odd design decisions. You can take a taxi to different regions, but it wont return you to your previous location. For an ARPG the loot situation is one of the worst i've ever seen. There are different armor pieces that drops, and some of these can be upgrades. But 99% of weapons are vendor fodder. There are no affixes like in Diablo, instead equipment drop as it is, and weapons are globally upgraded at base. You will never find a cool new gun that you can equip straight away. Loot is one of the pillars of ARPGs, so this direction blows my mind. Implants are a cool idea, but they dont even drop, and you are limited to just a few that can be installed at a cyberdoc.
It looks great but man, the gameplay is just not there. Really clunky.
While this style of game usually is not my preference, I can definitely see why people enjoy The Ascent, especially in co-op. Playing with another person made the experience much more enjoyable, and the combat felt satisfying overall. I especially loved the one-hit splats with some of the weapons (super satisfying). The cyberpunk atmosphere and world design are a standout. The environments are highly detailed and visually impressive, and exploration and firefights both feel impactful, with a strong sense of scale and chaos that keeps encounters engaging. That said, there were several bugs during the playthrough. Player 2 could sometimes see uncollectable uCreds and med kits, and there was also a bug where you could roll through the casino platform into the abyss and push your co-op partner off as well. The game would also occasionally freeze or crash, both in co-op and single player. Navigation could also be frustrating at times. Quest directions usually guided you along walking routes, even when using the taxi or metro system would have been much faster. There were also moments where quest markers disappeared, making it difficult to figure out where to go next. For achievement hunters, some achievements can also be annoying in co-op since certain progress appears to require the final hit. This was especially noticeable with Zell, the level 35 bounty, and the achievement for defeating 50 level 35+ enemies. Despite the bugs and navigation issues, I still had a good time with it. If you enjoy top-down shooters and co-op games, this is worth checking out.
Played every quest from front to end, good game
Played multiplayer, was a buggy mess. Couldn't even finish the final dlc boss as he kept sequence breaking, or disappearing. Doesn't help I had to be kicked and re-joined just because the hud in the lower right kept disappearing as well. Items desync, so you will have the ground cluttered with items that no one can pick up. Voice acting and story is the only reason I wanted to finish, and the dlc failed the landing on that (had to watch on youtube because the boss was so buggy). Oh, and don't try clicking the arrows on the map to cycle levels, that doesn't work ether......
