Tetris® Forever

TLDR: meh. I've been playing Tetris forever and was excited about this compilation. Unfortunately, the included games are just okay. I'm glad I only paid $2 for this game.

So qualification: I got this copy for very cheap, and I probably would buy it on sale. Spent about 12 hours to get through the whole timeline, though of course, I now have a bevy of classic Tetris games to play whenever I want. That being said, this game is fantastic. It truly is a beautiful tribute to Tetris - a game I only got into the past few years, despite being in my 30s. It is mostly a documentary, but with a lot of great games to play along the way to give you a taste of the evolution of Tetris. I recommend supplementing the games with Tetris on the Switch's Game Boy and NES apps, which are part of the NSO subscription, as those are two of the most popular games. However its clear this game was made by people who love Tetris, and the documentary bits are extremely well done. The folks who made Tetris are extremely likeable and their story is fascinating and well presented. I have a fondness now for Tetris that I may not even have for franchises that I've played for far longer. And the pinnacle game the devs made for this, Tetris Time Warp, is probably my favorite version of Tetris, besides Tetris Effect. If you like Tetris or are interested in the story behind it, this game is well worth it! Thank you devs!

some good games, some alright one. it's overall a pretty nice collection imo, but i'd wait for a sale.

For nostalgia trip this is must have. I just wish they would have the NES version which is my child hood right there.

Slightly disappointed that it did not include Tetris 2 that was released on the NES in North America. I grew up playing Tetris 2 on the NES going up against my mother and was hoping that this package would allow a modern version of that but alas, it was not meant to be.
