There is some salt in this review, so take that into account. I do, however, speak not from my heart, but from my mind. I have over 3k hours into this game, drive two hours to make locals every few weeks, and spent a lot of time on this game as my main hobby. No more. I regret investing time into this game. The game is three years old and it still doesn't know what it's trying to be. Character tuning and nerfs make little rhyme or reason. If you buy a DLC character, be especially wary. They will let your character be too strong and then nerf it into the ground the next season after most of the purchases/interest for said character are over. This fosters animus between players of this character and the rest of the community. When the aforementioned next season occurs and your DLC character gets nerfed into the ground--not always immediately at the start of the season--no one will care because your character was a nightmare the season prior. I also don't think this game knows what it wants to be. It fluctuates between trying to be a super fast paced exciting game and an old school Tekken game. Nostalgia and frustration do blur some lines, but it feels like T8 doesn't hit either target audience. I'm tired of grinding a game, watching videos, following the esports, making lobbies, labbing, and doing the things I'm supposed to do just to run into an overly tuned character that won't get touched because it's too profitable. AK is still an overly tuned monster of a character. King, ironically, not a DLC, but has such a huge following that he has to be kept OP. The game hasn't taken modernity into account, either. Given the lay of the land, it's easier now than ever to KBD (trivialized, sadly) do electrics, wave-dash, etc. You would think some of those abilities would be tempered since they are easier to do, but no. There are other QoL issues, too. Too many mids look like lows and too many lows look like mids. The combo system is an incoherent mess, the infamous 'T8 camera man' behaves like he's drunk. Moves that have no business crushing or evading do, hit boxes are random, etc. Characters seem to either have no moves that you can reliably step and walk OR everything can be stepped and walked. This isn't a well made game. If I could go back in time, I would never have poured my heart and soul into this title. Lord knows they nickel and dime the players who want to support the product and have cool customs, too. Basic eye colors are locked behind battle passes? We waited years for....black lipstick?
Do you enjoy getting hit once and then having a cutscene for the rest of the match, or playing against a character who was just buffed so much that they could kill God? Well, this is the game for you, you masochists. As of writing this, I have been beaten by a Jack-8 who used a throw and one other move the entire match, a King who spammed grabs, and a bunch of players who pressed the button that plays the game for you. I first played Tekken 7 at a friend's house and fell in love with it, and I waited 5 years to finally get a gaming computer that could run it. When they announced Tekken 8, I was so excited to play it even though it was around $120 at launch. I didn't have a computer that could run it, so I waited a year and a half, and I got one a few months before Christmas. When I saw that it was on sale for $65, I bought it and started playing. I sucked, but I was so determined to master the game. I watched tutorials and I practiced, and when I finally played multiplayer, I got my ass whooped. AT THAT POINT I REALIZED THAT YOU HAVE TO KNOW EVERY CHARACTER'S MOVES TO WIN. IF YOU DON'T, YOU'LL JUST LOSE AND LOSE AND LOSE. I will admit that I suck, but if you do want to play this casually, you won't get too far in ranked. But if you're willing and you have the time, you can get pretty far. My opinion will probably change later on, but right now I'm just pissed. It's not a horrible game. I really enjoy playing against my friend. He's really good and beats me all the time, but it's fun playing with him. IF YOU DON'T WANNA READ ALL THAT, THIS IS THE MOST HONEST OPINION I CAN GIVE: the characters are really unbalanced, the game is just about who can hit first, and if you don't, you'll be thrown around the stage like a baby fighting Conor McGregor. Every update, there are a bunch of moves added that have not been tested. The most broken character I can think of is Jack-8. If you do get this game, don't expect it to be easy. It's the hardest fighting game I have ever played. Oh yeah, the DLCs are ridiculously expensive. Wanna play Heihachi? Yeah, that's gonna be 20 bucks buddy. It really makes you feel like they are trying to squeeze every last penny out of you if you want to play a locked character and the cherry on top is that they wont ever listen to the community.
every patch this game just gets further and further from what tekken was meant to be. rage arts, heat gauges, heat smashes, all for the sake of trying to reach more players, shunning the fans of the past games. not to mention how heavily imbalanced the game is towards hyper aggressive play to make for quick matches. not to mention that it seems every time i launch the game there's new micro transactions for more stupid costumes rather than putting time into actually caring for the game's state. even tekken 7's rage arts took a lot from the game in my opinion, but the game could still be played with a bit more thinking time. at this rate, tekken is probably just dead to me anymore. they havent made any good decisions since tekken 7 season 2, and it just seems to keep slipping down the muddy slope.
Marvelous 🌹 Don't like the DLC system tho Characters being locked behind a paywall and not being able to lab them is frustrating...Everything else is very fun 🍺
Beat a friend so bad in this game they decided to stop playing against me online, and instead download my ghost to fight in training instead. 10/10
Awfully unbalanced, DLC characters are expensive and you get punished for not buying them (not being able to lab them) and they're also OP, game takes more than 100gb of space. Love-hate on this game but after reaching blue ranks in ranked I started hating it. Tekken 8 is for masochists that love to get combo'd for 20 seconds and losing half your health by a single mistake.
리디아 시발 개 씨발 좆같은 폴란드 어매뒤진 ㅆ씨발년아 진짜 좆같네 개 븅신같은 캐릭이 다있어
Worst play experience imaginable. A third of the cast would have to get deleted or completely reworked to make the game even somewhat reasonable, the generic game mechanics are terrible to play against and seem designed for a one player game. And despite all the feedback from the community since the games release, its only gotten worse. Hopefully they don't make another game after this, do not waste your money.
Лохи что жалуются на то что в игру надо учиться играть и не все персонажи одинаковые идите обратно в свои сф и прочую 2д ♥♥♥♥♥
