About

Subway Builder is a hyperrealistic transit simulation game built using live data from US and UK cities.
Real-World Passenger Simulation
Millions of commuters are generated from Census and Redistricter data and simulated using the same pathfinding algorithms you use on your phone. Your job is to design a route network that gets the most people to their destination as fast as possible. Juggle station placement, transfer dynamics, and train frequency to maximize ridership.
In-Depth Analysis
Explore how individual commuters weigh tradeoffs between wait times, transfers, income distribution, delays, and more, to pick their commute. Understand which routes, stations, and trains your commuters take and use that information to optimize your network.
You must also find the right balance between cost and time using this analysis. Too many trains on a line or an overcrowded station may cause delays or disruptions.
Authentic Data
The US and UK census records home and workplace locations. The game generates millions of commuters with homes from that and then uses a distance-based gravity model to assign them all workplaces. They're also assigned times to leave to/from work in a distribution similar to real life.
This decision is then made based on how long each commute method takes, how much it costs, and the value of their time (different commuters can have different incomes).
If they decide to take the subway you can follow their commute (and thousands of others simultaneously) as they get to work. If a train is delayed or cancelled, it will affect their commute and future commuters will take that into account.
College and airport commuters are also simulated and they behave differently since they have different income distributions and commuting times. Federal data is used for college student counts and FAA data for airports.
Current cities in Subway Builder include: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Honolulu, Houston, Indianapolis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St Louis, and Washington in the US. Birmingham, Liverpool, London, Manchester, and Newcastle are cities available in the UK.

Has a lot of potential and the game based on real data is more like the classic city building era where people would import USGS data and similar to make a city that look real. You can really go deep especially if you lived in one of the metro areas featured. I can find building and landmarks based on the map alone but tags beyond town names would really help. Like other simulators in 2026 the internet is needed due to the amount and freshness of the data. Needs a lot more refinement and the arrow keys and mouse rotation need an invert option. Hopefully the next few patches resolve the issues and add more game like behavior since the game feels more like a malfunctioning piece of CAD software crudely fused with a census data sheet.
This game is actually really fun, and addictive in some ways. Being a transit fan, and city building style kind of guy, this is a game I would recommend to anyone like me. I’ve been wanting to play this since October when I saw YouTuber Drew Durnil playing it. And I was really interested in it. And now I’m playing the game 8 months later building a city in New York.
게임 실행 후 시작시 무한 로딩 ;;; 스팀에서 게임사서 하면서 처음있는 일인듯
its a good game all in all, some small bugs and some stuff that are a little annoying such as there is only home and work and no leisure but it's still good
game does get a little tricky when you first start but after it gets really fun if you understand what you're doing
Looks good while others are playing it. Too many bugs and crashes when I'm playing it.
Very good. One quick help for beginners (me : ) )- Start with Honolulu hawaii ;its the only small dense city in the us and the mountains limit the city in one nice long corridor. The others feel too intimidating to start off with. The game is essentially a google maps extension with realistic passenger modeling visualized in good ui with a cities skylines like ( but better ) metro builder. I love how intense the detail is with the modelng and the ways you can intimidatly look into the route of your passengers it makes it feel like a realistic model based on Us census data ;). To be fair this game was made specifically for me and playing in the long run will be dependent on how big the modder community is. good and stable on mac
no matter how you analyze the demand sketch map , it loses money no matter where you build the stations ,it loses money no matter how many cars you use , it loses money no matter what i do to save the financial problems , it loses money when it's 9'o clock ,the metro is devastating crowded, and just as the time goes to 10 ,it becomes 0, The passengers disappeared ,as if nothing had happened. as a cities skylines player , i really pinned my hope on this game. But until now the game is not satisfying, at least im not satisfied. I shall wait for your later updates, i wish your later updates wont let me down. you know what?Well i suggest you guys better make a deposit with those 3B$, cuz i cant find a proper way to benefit from building and managing a metro web.
还不错,就是赚钱慢了点
Tiene algunos bugs aún, pero es un juego entretenido con harto potencial, sobre todo si agregan mapas de más ciudades del mundo.
