About
The city burns and bleeds as it suffers the madness of King Louis XVI and his violent legions of automatons. Aegis, a mechanical masterpiece created by the engineer Vaucanson to be the queen's bodyguard, must save the French Revolution in this challenging action-RPG.
Up against the king's mechanical soldiers, deadly accuracy will be needed. String together dodges, parries, jumps and devastating attacks to fight your way through Paris. Every fight will test your nerve and requires excellent discipline, while the huge relentless machine bosses demand patience and skill.
Define your own style and upgrade your abilities as you progress through the game. You can play as a ruthless warrior, a hard-hitting bodyguard, a deadly dancer or a virtuoso of the elemental arts. Take advantage of a wide variety of weapons and skills to approach each fight in your own unique way.
Using carriages, grapples, secret passages, a detailed map, and other methods and tools you find along the way, explore a city experiencing its darkest days. Your grappling hook adds a new dimension to exploration and Paris's verticality. Combined with your dash ability, it will provide access to all the city's secrets across multiple levels you can explore over and over again.
You are one of the main characters of an alternative history where Paris is being choked by a tyrant king. Allies and enemies with unclear motives will cross your path, such as Marie-Antoinette, Lafayette and Robespierre. It's up to you to cut a path through all the plotting and put an end to one man's madness so that the French Revolution succeeds.

TL;DR Buy only if u are massive fan of the style and visuals or when on sale. DLC - ONLY if it is 100% free. best in game - visual design of streets and interiors of Paris at that time. exploration and level design with verticality - also cool and well done. Story - it is ok. Not great, not bad. A lot of historical moments and figures. I had fun exploring locations and their different connections. Minor gameplay\mechanics spoilers ahead: Interesting choice of weapons. But not a lot in general. As there are literally 0 options for any modifications of it. Only expensive as f..k 5 lvl ups. Also your character lvl ups are incredibly expensive with each next level. IF u wont hard-grinding AND explore each corner\balcony\enemy at maximum - u'll end the game about lvl 26-30 and u just miss out any decent build ups. And game IS very short. I personally explored ALL. Grind a lot for additional lvl-ups and weapon upgrades, buing materials etc. Finished the game and all side quests+DLC at lvl 48. combat system is rather simple. At start feels stiff and bad animated, but it becomes a little better and understandable the more u play. all other - is just bad. u can`t add same souls\runes and checkpoint mechanics and called it "A Souls LIke". it also has difficulty settings, all though original "hard" difficulty is ridiculously easy cause all enemies, bosses included, have 2-3 moves max and are slow as sleepy koalas. Overall imho - more "assassins' creed\Hogwarts legacy" -ish gameplayed product, then a "soulslike". visuals and graphics of open nature territories aka grass, parks and forests, wood and ground textures have very low quality overall, even at max graphic settings, but again - streets and buildings of city locations - are great. Various enemy designs? Forget it! Here's robot with axe. Here's the same robot with fire axe. Here's the same robot with ice and still the same with electricity. Voilà! Enemies bestiarium is complete. Also they ALL are absolutely the same colour\materials\textures and often - badly visible in front of surroundings. u want fast travel across your checkpoints? Forget it. Nonexistent here. run on foot or use limited and purchasable items. U want some kind, any kind of respec\reseting your parameters\LVLs to try new cool weapon\skills\builds or to fix a bad build? Forget it! Nonexistent here. u can't evade some cutscenes which can teleport u to another location BEFORE u finish loot\explore final spots in current location. Very frustrating! Questlines overall are extremely straightforward with your minimum ability to influence any of the major storylines. A couple of choices - that's all u get pall;) And the worst part of experience - DLC. DO NOT buy DLC " Cagliostro's Secrets". It is almost a scam. a new super tiny location with only one lazy-ass boss. U can speed run ALL DLC content in an hour or so! And it has nothing! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING worth there. Couple absolutely similar weapons u already have, 2 or 3 new types of enemies which anyway looks absolutely the same as majority of others. Couple of absolutely empty rooms, gardens and floors. totally was a part of a main game and was cut off\blocked later. IT IS not a real DLC or normal amount of new gameplay content for the money.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I am genuinely very impressed by Steelrising. I generally try to review games on their own merits, regardless of developer; but having played 3 Spiders RPGs in the last decade and finding all 3 to be heavily flawed (Mars: War Logs, Bound By Flame & The Technomancer), I started to lose my faith in this developer a bit. It was frustrating because I said multiple times, both in discussions about the games and in my reviews of them, that Spiders has potential, so much of it, but it just isn't applied in the appropriate way and the end results are flawed, repetitive games with unbalanced combat and technical issues, but a core of good somewhere too deep to reach. I didn't even want to try Steelrising as a result, but somehow it found itself on my list of games anyway, so I hesitantly tried it. And, what do you know - it is actually pretty good! That's not to say it's perfect, or even great, but I think Steelrising is a HUGE step up from the technical messes that a lot of the previous Spiders RPGs were (taking aside Greedfall, which at time of writing I have bought, but not played yet). It is a Soulslike with an interesting setting, good voice acting, a history-tinged story and actually serviceable combat. As Aegis, an automaton, you travel across Paris at behest of the Queen to stop a king driven mad by power. There are many different weapons in the game with light, heavy and special attacks, as well as different elements that can burn, freeze or electrocute enemies. And of course you can upgrade your stats and equipment as well as your "flask". The enemy automaton designs are pretty interesting, combat is incredibly fluid (to the point that I didn't believe this was the same developer given how stiff previous combat systems were) and exploring Paris is generally pretty fun, with some Metroidvania tinges included as you eventually unlock two items that open up some paths in previous areas for secrets. The music is also very well done and there are even some emotional story beats that surprised me. Of course, it's not all sunshine and roses. This is still a Spiders game so there are some technical issues and flaws. A lot of the out-of-bounds areas have no effort put into them, to the point where you can look over a hedge and see buildings floating in the air. In many areas you can also easily glitch yourself out of bounds because there are just no guardrails or invisible walls there. The enemy AI glitched out in the last area of the game and some enemies stopped attacking me, which was unsettling as they still turned to look at me, but didn't do anything. There were a few crashes, only two or three times though. Areas are pretty and I like the 1800s Paris style, but the game's visuals are very repetitive, with only really a few area types that constantly repeat (mansion, city area, forest, sewers, and one cave), so the game gets a bit tiring to look at after a while. The game is also (this could be a pro or con depending on your preferences) very easy, especially for a Soulslike. I did die a few times just from overconfidence, but if you are careful, you will never die, especially if you stockpile your items, some of which are very overpowered (like infinite endurance flasks) and of which there are many. Still, I prefer that to running into a brick wall. Regardless of previous comparisons to other games of Spiders, Steelrising is a game that well and truly stands on its own. It's a shame that at time of writing, aftet finally making a game that I would consider to be very competent, if not perfect (maybe a 7/10), Nacon wants to sell Spiders after falling into bankruptcy. I really hope Spiders, in whatever capacity, will continue to be able to develop games, because Steelrising shows that they have learned from a lot of their previous mistakes and the talent I always knew was there is finally on display. If you like Soulslikes and active combat, Steelrising is very worth a look and I'm happy it turned out to be a very fun game!
TLDR: souls-like for those who never played souls-like games. For fans: does not worth it even on sale. Steelrising auditory - newbies in souls like genre. There are no challenges for souls-like fans, poor difficulty, weapon variety, boss design. Game can buy your attention only with graphics and mediocre sidequests. Despite graphics of Paris and costumes is good, face animations is like from meme-games. Bosses are trashes. Almost every boss you can have feeling why this slow and stupid piece of ... can be named as a boss. Also all mini-bosses are common enemies with a bit increased stats. Amount of bosses is also sad. For those who doubt to play or are in a process of playing, do not doubt. Just deleted and you won't miss something.
I played Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, Lies of P, and Wuchang all in the span of a few months, so I am still riding the soulslike high pretty hard. Really wanted to like Steelrising but the camera work is so poor that I decided to cut my losses and uninstall. Literally the first mini boss fight, I've had the camera spin a full 180 in the middle of the fight when the second enemy came into the screen. After I took care of the second enemy and got the janky camera back to focus on the boss, all should be good right? Well... as I dodge his attacks and position myself behind him... like you do in any other soulslike when fighting a boss... the camera all of the sudden went nuts and spun in ways I've never experienced before. This was all within the first half hour of the game. If there is one thing to get right in a soulslike, it would be the controls. And with a camera lock on system so bad, how do you enjoy the minute to minute gameplay?
All My Circuits
- If you like jank (but beautiful looking) 3D soulslikes made by teams with passion this game is for you. - If you are tired of UE5 optimization issues, and are interested in optimization issues of an inhouse game engine (Hope you have VRAM), this game is for you. This game has the speed and vibes of Bloodborne, mixed with the posture breaking of Sekiro, and the traversal options of an Assasin's Creed game, in an alternative steampunk take on the French revolution gone very wrong. Steelrising is interesting and cheap enough (90% off on sale) to be worth the price of admission, and is shorter in length than the average souls title. The story and the characters are somewhat forgettable in the first half, but do come together really well only if you're willing to finish the side quests ad find every echo, but it's not a bad game by any means. The level design is great, and has decent backtracking to previous areas, alongside fast travel. The platforming can feel slightly jank (The run animation is weird) but overall gameplay feels good enough to keep playing. I like that the studio has stuck to a smaller scope, but it does have repeated assets and variations on the same enemies. That could be a bother for some, but I didn't mind it. The assets are high quality though, and the graphics are beautiful with baked lighting, without the samey low-contrast ray-traced look that UE5 titles have. Do note however that the ultra textures need a bit more than 16GB VRAM at 4K, so you will have some glitches, none game-breaking however, can always switch up to high. PS: If the game feels easy at some point, stop spamming bombs, they're sort of an invisible difficulty slider. The difficulty starts off high in the first few areas but you get overpowered later thanks to better modules and levelling up, making it a somewhat easy soulslike for the remainder of the game. Score: 7.5/10
