THIS IS A SOULS-LIKE
Made by an Italian studio. I am most impressed and happy with this. ✅✅✅ It follows the genre. The concept is great (masks) and has depth. It's played in 3rd person view. As you and I are able to visualize (Italian-Da Vinci), the game looks really nice. This is a UE (unreal engine) game. I remain very impressed how the DEVELOPERS have managed to keep the install size to this minimum. It has effectively raised my eyebrow against the other DEVELOPERS that haven't done this. (reduced install size) This FULL GAME is under 20 gigabytes as-of-writing this review. If you enjoyed SOULS-LIKE, Lords-of-The-Fallen (2023) or even DARK SOULS 3, Elden Ring, hopefully you find this is along your lane. I won't tell you not to buy this game. I read the reviews extensively, knowing its troubled history and reception. i made sure to look at the most recent reviews to ensure I would be getting an improved version of the game. Today is the 2nd of July, 2026, and i never leave reviews. I will leave a review for this game. My total hours played is 1.3 hours. Why? Because that's approximately the amount of time i was permitted to play before a bug locked me out of the rest of the world. 1.3 hours, that's about as long as it takes to start the game up and make it through the tutorial. The moment i defeated the boss i was effectively stuck in that area. Some would say well you've only just started it, you could just start a new save, but are we really doing that? Are we that hard pressed to play soulslikes that we tolerate such unforgivable bugs? (last patch in March of '26 mind you) I think not. And anyway I can't play this game based simply on the fact that I can't risk being midgame and having this happen after i beat a boss, and then i have to "reload a previous save", because i will lose absolutely my ♥♥♥♥. So i saved myself the headache and requested a refund. i won't tell you not to buy this game, but i certainly won't advise you to either.
Wanted to love this, especially as an Italian with roots in Calabria. 5 hours in, my save got corrupted and now the game just crashes every time I try to load it. Bugs are annoying, but losing your save in a Soulslike is a whole different level. I’ve been gaming for over 26 years and never had this happen before. Fix the save corruption and I’ll gladly change my review. Until then, I can’t recommend it.
Souls-Likes have a very specific and focused formula. Enotria: The Last Song decides to just take some of the concepts and do mostly nothing interesting with it. As a Game there's nothing to latch on to in terms of combat, traversal, feeling and feedback. As a Work of Art, sure, you can bask in it's world as much as you please; the scenery and some of the locations are indeed beautiful, especially the music, but that can carry just so much on it's own. I'm glad most of the studios moved on from this tiresome and recycled "genre".
Nowhere near as bad as people say, but not a great game either. It's a perfectly good 7, good enough to scratch that soulslike itch you get every once in a while but not much else. The story/characters are okay, graphics are okay, and performance is good. Combat is mostly parry-oriented with some dodging; no blocking, though, which sucks. Due to how generous the parry windows are, the game is quite easy. Aside from a couple of bosses (Giangurgolo...), this is a pretty easy game overall, a nice intro into the world of soulslikes. SCORE: 7/10.
Fun, artistic, beautiful depiction and celebration of Italian theatre culture and a rightfully fun souls-game. If you can look past the charming bugs and make sure to have backup saves, the game is amazing.
This game is such a rough diamond in the dirt. I only played it now when it is at the end of its cycle. The changes the team made after that horrendous release are a godsend to it. Just wish they kept improving on it. For one. They gave up on trying to balance the weapons so you will come across tens of weapons that are just "here you can spam lasers at the enemy" or "here you can blink to the enemy on any heavy". It truly is refreshing to see this. The game showers you with Memoria (basically souls), lets you downgrade a weapon to upgrade another, gives you plenty of the upgrade resource needed to Max LvL pretty much anything so it is a dream for players who love to try out various builds. The world building is amazing, a tad confusing at times but really well done as well. Most of the bosses are pretty fun to fight and the game starts out being a "parry or die" game but at around the 30% mark it changes to having parry be optional since with clever spacing and one of the aforementioned ranged weapons you can just bully most bosses. The Level Design has to be one of the best I have ever seen in a souls-like. Genuinely. When I picked the game up and heard it has only 3 zones i was a bit sad, since another favourite of mine AI Limit is quite short. But nooo each zone is massive and has a lot of optional content you can find by just looking carefully from one of vistas. The aesthetic choice is very solid as well, always looking bright and colourful with moments speckled in of atmospheric and gloom undertones. A nice change of pace to the griminess that finds its way in most soulslikes. I am not saying that one is better than the other, but it's nice to see some variety. They truly take the idea of Commedia Dell'Arte in stride as one moment I'd be chatting to an NPC about how they were tormented by their Master, only to then be told "I lack seasoning" by said Master. This game excels at build creation, they truly put a lot of effort into giving the player options. And using said builds is quite fun against at least 70% of the game. Which brings me to the mechanics: The game has a clear jank to it, with the inclusion of a jump button you can imagine there will be areas where you can slide off the map, get put in a corner by enemies, enemies doing a jump attack and it missing and them landing on my head. But it does have a hilarity and the most important part of it, the one thing they nailed is the parry. It feels good to parry and you can parry everything as there are no grab attacks. The one other thing that is somewhat disturbing is how some tiny parts are unfinished, like some NPCs not having voiceovers. Or some effects being missing. I chatted with another NPC late game, and the whole presentation was gorgeous. Truly felt the unnatural vide they were going for. Only of for the model of the NPC to literally just unload once the scene finished playing and they had to go to the hub. No sound effect, not visual effect, nothing. They do have voice overs for the big improtant NPCs and all the mainline bosses, and the acting is pretty good, especially Pulcinella, Zanni, and Maja. Will come back to it once again to get the other two endings once enough time passes so that I forget some of the nooks and crannies of the various maps. If you find it on sale the game is 100% worth it as the lack of voiceovers truly doesn't justify the full 30 pounds for it. But anything below 25 I would say is full value. If you explore everything you can easily get 40-50 hours of gameplay out of it in a single playthrough. I assume just going straight to bosses will probably get you a 20-25 hour experience. I also had some issues running the game initially but that is no surprise. I eventually found a way to balance the settings in order to get a stable 60 fps, but did have to close the game and open it back up every 2 hours or so.
