I barely give this Souls-like by Spiders—the jank masters of GreedFall and GreedFall 2—a pass. They barely pass the test. If the passing score is 40, then this game is a 40.1. If you're looking for a Souls-like to jump into as a new player, look somewhere else. If you're an RPG/Soulslike veteran, look somewhere else as well. If you're bored and want something dirt cheap on a sale for 10–15 hours to kind of waste, then Steelrising is okay, I guess. Positives: - A genuine protagonist you root for—she is determined, loving, and loyal, with an amazing character design. - The story definitely has potential but ultimately falters in the end. - A large amount of weaponry and ways to tailor the game to your own playstyle. Negatives: Abysmal PC performance for the subpar fidelity it provides. Clunky and janky—getting caught on invisible terrain; the camera tries to snap back to your character when you try to pan up to shoot a grapple hook; the camera gets lost in fences, bushes, and walls when you try to fight; janky animations that provide no feedback. A disappointing ending—very disappointing. You get a nearly five-minute, stupid monologue from the mastermind of the events that you only see once you reach the final level. I wanted to see a happy conclusion for Aegis and her companion, not a weak antagonist getting executed and then fading to black. I spent 12 hours only to be disappointed by the ending. I have played a lot of Euro-jank games in my life—Elex, Elex 2, the Gothic series, Risen, the old Divinity RPGs, Two Worlds—so I have a high tolerance for them. This is a very Euro-jank Souls-like, and Euro Jank + Souls-like isn't a nice mix, as souls-like games require the gameplay and combat to be intuitive, smooth, and reliable, Jank is the opposite of that. I only recommend this game on a dirt-cheap sale—like a very, very deep sale for a couple of bucks. Anything more than that, and the value diminishes steeply because of its poor gameplay quality, poor performance, and very disappointing ending. I give this a thumbs up, but barely, and I fully understand why people gave it a negative review and quit within the first three hours. It has flaws that are extremely hard to forgive unless you've played a lot of janky games in the past. I really love Aegis, the main protagonist of this game. I just wish the game had a better conclusion to her story.

The first couple hours were good because it was new and fun. The different types of weapons are aweseome, dual fans were sick! The elements added were fun, but thats kind of where it stops. I had 2 hard pc crashes with this game, the bots movements were very janky, they would very frequently freeze and glitch on the spot before continuing their path, in combat i would get stuck on a pebble and couldn't run/dash away and get hit.. very frustrating. And the areas i was excited to explore, the first zone was great again because it was new, but when I moved to the new zones.. it was the same enemies.. just different elements, insanely disappointing, it felt lazy. I was very over seeing the same enemy after 4hrs and was excited to go tot he new zones and fight something different only be face to face with the same mobs! Instant mood killer for me. I enjoy my souls games, and this one wasn't particularly hard either, I was able to first try every boss, so it would be a good intro game to someone new in the souls like field, but other than that I can't recommend this game, it's way to janky to enjoy and gets boring after you leave the first area. :(

This game is quite the gem if you get it on a sale, I love the setting, the combat it's quite good and polished, it's linear so you won't get lost but you don't have much to explore, and the difficulty it's alright, it's a challenge but not to the point that you throw things out, out of the souls games I played this is the easiest but I quite like it.

Steelrising looks impressive based on access media, offering fast-paced, strategic combat set in a unique alternate-history Paris. The visuals are detailed and atmospheric, while gameplay appears challenging and rewarding. Overall, it seems like a strong action-RPG for fans of intense, skill-based battles.
