I'm so happy that original devs got back the full rights to SunnySide and will now be continuing development to make 2.0 version that the game always was supposed to be before earlier publisher made them push it out as 1.0 before it was completely ready. I've loved this game since start and really hope it'll shine in new, updated version fulfilling the potential it always had ^_^
Held off reviewing this hoping a big patch would fix some of the issues it just never happened This game feels like it should be in early access I have no clue why it shipped as a full game ~Game runs poorly I have a decent system 9800x3d 4080 Super 64G of dd5 ram and on average I get around 50-60 fps ~Terrible animations everything from walking to swinging an axe to riding a bicycle seem to use place holder animations everything feels bad ~Marriage was listed on the kick starter was never added I think the devs made some ridiculous claim it would take 200,000 dollars to add and backtracked on it ~Multiplayer was promised and never delivered ~There is this annoying alien robot that is forced on you that makes no sense it's really Immersion breaking but hey I guess that what people want in a rural Japanese farming sim I guess? ~Massive open world but it feels lifeless and dead outside of the town The game balance is terrible. Money is super easy, but you can't use it to buy anything. Need wood? I couldn't find anyone that sells it, so enjoy farming trees every day for 3 weeks to build a single building as you sit on a mountain of cash that's useless. I had such high hopes for this game shame how it turned out
Did I love this game? Absolutely. Did it give me more grief than enjoyment? 100%. The final nail for me was when, at the end of a fully productive day, I attempted to sleep and finish the day, only for the 'E' key to suddenly stop working. Okay, inconvenient, but I'll let the clock drain and have my avatar pass out. Nope! Clock stopped at 23:30, nothing else worked, so I had to close the app and lose the day's progress. Might not have been too bad if I wasn't constantly losing days of gameplay due to the game crashing or bugging out beyond salvaging. You honestly get to a point where bug workarounds are part of the gameplay. This needs so much work to be stable, and it's nowhere near there. It's not fun; I'm wasting IRL time on this, and it is bringing more frustration than joy. Hold off, don't buy it, and with some luck, the devs will actually make this a game that can be reliably played.
The game seems to have been in a dispute with Publisher who may or may not have forced the Devs to release when the game was probably at best Beta. Now the update news claims that UE5 update will improve performance and stuff, never read that one before. Essentially the Publisher ran the game like its a scam and ran with the money, now they moved price to 19,50. I absolutely got played by dev/publisher and this is easily a refund if I could still get it. This game is an unmitigated disaster. From memory the Town map/Area was also far too large to explore comfortably, and felt like an early Beta as I mentioned earlier. I absolutely would stay away from the game until there's more updates (if) cuz as is this is just a disaster.
When hearing that this game got original developers back and planning for 2.0, I can see this game having great potential in future. It is already feeling really rewarding to make working farm on RPG mode as I do like when progress is slowish and you need actually plan accordingly what you are doing next, instead of slapping all working stations, animal shelters etc. Definitely want to see what 2.0 will be offering in future.
I love this game! Haven't played it in a while, but now that the original developers are 100% back in control, I can certainly see myself playing for many years to come! It's one of those games that is just... well, a vibe. It has that relaxing, very carefree feel and there is rather a lot to do. Definitely worth a watch at the very least and I am looking forward to the future of this game. :D
I do Like the idea of the game. but wouldnt really reccomend it currently. (might change in future) So here is my review: The game is not trash. It has much potential. Sadly unused. So here are the PROS: You can buy properties. You can build stuff. You can do Farming. You can keep Animals. You can have Relationships. Its Setting is the Japanese Countryside. Now the CONS: Performance is bad. (for me not anymore since my Low spec is pretty strong) Its more American than Japanese. NPC feel scripted as hell. Feels like NPCs are all westerns pretending to be Japanese. Story is only intresting for Females or LGBTQ allies. Sparky. Relationships are uninteresting Interactions feel stiff and Scripted while also being very limited. Sparky and cave story is a Dumpster for bad Ideas. many systems are unpolished. The worst: Sparky. Youre forced to Engage in lovey dovey perfect lgbtq and people of colour world stuff. No Modding tool. ------------------------------------------------ so dont get me wrong, i dont want to hate the devs, they tried their best. but they rushed things, did not think systems fully through and code is usable but not optimized for performance, adaptbility or functionality. (atleast in my opinion) for the story writers: youve done a great job for some people. but you basically scared away a big playerbase for a smaller one that share your view. based on the story, i can tell youre left and very open to all humans living in one place and migration and all that stuff. thats fine. but forcing it into the game with all that lgbtq and people of color and american culture things while trying to stay in the japanese style feels like cultural appropriation. you could have done that with the american countryside or the european one, because thats a western thing. but how you did it, that forcing that story to all players with all that unpolished, unrealistically, scripted and inclusive story is basically killing like 98% of potential playerbase. and than not being able to actually make an own story or modding the game, or even adding own npcs, kills it Completely. it feels more like noone of you ever have been in japan, and just recreated it from anime with your own values and culture. if anyone has an other opinion, feel free to comment or message me. and for the devs and wirters, please dont take all of this personally. its just my personal opinion..
Game is unplayable crashes,
So happy to hear the game is back in action and they are coming to make the game better. it was hard to play as the game was so im excited for a new update! lots of us cheering on the team for some good content so cant wait!!
Let me start by saying i really like this game a lot , I have spent 90 hours on this game. I would have spent more on it too, However the optimization is trash. I have 32gb of ram, NVIDA 5060ti 16gb and a Ryzen 5800x3d and playing this game for even just 15 minutes makes the fps tank so bad. Graphics are great, The game itself is great. However when you drop from 60fps to 5 just from opening the menu sucks. Don't get me started on the way the game acts while you are in the caves and doing battles. The game freaks out and you get stuck with your battle deck on top of the spark menu. Then it also tends to glitch out and the overlays get stuck and make you have to quit the game and come back. They really need to implement a self save instead of sleep saves if they aren't going to fix the glitches and fps tanks. So Yes the game is recommended just know your probably going to get mad and stop playing it unless they really allow you to optimize the game.
