(Add 60 hours of Xbox playtime to my Steam playtime.) Starfield is a vastly over-hated game. It has flaws, it's far from perfect, but it's also so much better than typical public opinion would have you think. It has the bones of your typical Bethesda RPG, as you might expect, but instead of exploring a region of Tamriel or post-apocalyptic America, you're exploring the Settled Systems, a cluster of systems in a region of the Milky Way with its own settings, factions and history. The story is fun, the characters are likeable, and the aesthetics are visually appealing. The biggest negative talking point about this game is its procedurally generated planets, and if you're unfamiliar with Starfield, you'd be forgiven for thinking the entire game is procedurally generated. It's not. It has as much hand-crafted environmental work as any other Bethesda RPG, it just happens to be nestled inside a much wider span of generated environments in order to sell the feeling of a vast, explorable frontier. And perhaps the game would be better if Bethesda had focused on a handful of fully hand-crafted planetary locations, but I'm someone who genuinely enjoys exploring those quiet wastes, deserts and valleys. It's certainly faster to get to locations now with the vehicle they added. Ignore the haters and the outrage merchants, and form your own opinion. Check out the trailers, the screenshots, the overviews. Does the game look and sound interesting to you? Then try it for yourself. Don't just mindlessly regurgitate the same tired talking points from people who would have you angrier about yellow paint and reflections in puddles. Those people are just being loud for attention, because we live in an age of the internet where getting attention of any kind can make you rich.
You have so many different things to do and the visuals are nice too.
Great game if you like RPG type open world exploration.
