About
Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man's Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.
In No Man's Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you'll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before - and perhaps never will again.
Play with all major updates since launch: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, The Abyss, Visions, the 2.0 BEYOND update, Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation and the 3.0 update, ORIGINS, Next Generation, Companions, Expeditions, Prisms, Frontiers, Sentinel, Outlaws, Endurance, Waypoint (4.0), Fractal, Interceptor, Echoes, Omega, Orbital, Worlds Part I (5.0), Worlds Part II, Relics, Beacon, VOYAGERS (6.0), Remnant, Xeno Arena and The Swarm.
And now with added Cross-Save! No Man’s Sky now supports Cross-Play and Cross-Save between a huge number of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox One and Series X/S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PlayStation VR 1 & 2 and PCVR.
Available for PC and Mac (see recommended and minimum specs for details).
An epic voyage to the centre of a shared universe awaits, allowing you to explore, trade, fight and survive alone or with friends.
At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.
Your voyage through No Man's Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.
Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you'll reap huge rewards.
Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.
The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own...

This game is a lot of kinda cool ideas all mashed together and left half-baked. The exploration is impressive in its breadth, but ultimately disappointing in depth. After a point, everything is pretty 'same old, same old'. The game is PvE, which is good because it prevents griefing and other abuses, but it does mean starship combat is rather uninteresting. There are bugs galore that go forever unfixed. Most annoying are the unsolvable clipping errors and the game forgets changes you make to planetary terrain. On the plus side, the game is a single purchase, works even on an aging, mid-grade gaming laptop under linux, has an impressively massive open world, and progress isn't agonizingly grindy. On the minus side, the bugs are persistent, the game world is impressively static (nothing you do matters to any npc faction), very few of the gameplay concepts are fully executed, and, even though you can cross galaxies, you can't secure a load of toxic waste in the bed of a truck.
this game here called No Man's Sky is one of my fav games i like related to exploration. what i like the most about this game is about how the universe in that game is insanely large. there are actually so many systems that i can explore. the fact bout this game's largeness meant that i have the freedom to explore everything. YIPPIE! :3 another fav bout this game is that i can have animal companions & battle with others for either for fun or to get an invitation to one of the challengers and meeting a lot of new aliens in every space stations. ILIKETHISGAMEVERYMUCH! <3
This game is not what I expected at all. I normally don't like games with no real ending. I prefer progression, a clear goal, and knowing that eventually I will reach a final point and move on. Endless games usually lose me because after some time it starts feeling repetitive or directionless. But this game somehow hits differently. When I started, I thought it was just another space survival game: collect resources, build things, repeat. I wasn't expecting much. Then weird things started happening. I discovered my own star system and realized I could rename it with my IGN. Then I found out that if I upload it, other players who reach that place can actually see that I discovered it first. Suddenly the universe stopped feeling like a generated map and started feeling like a shared world. The scale of the game is hard to describe. You realize you're not exploring a small handcrafted map, you're inside something absurdly huge. The crazy thing is that the game doesn't force you into one path either. One minute I was looking for copper to repair things, the next I found a crashed B-class ship and started debating whether I should repair it, scrap it, or keep it. Then I ended up learning about salvaging, discovering planets, inventory management, and ten other things I wasn't even planning to do. What surprised me most is that there is always something pulling your curiosity forward. You constantly tell yourself: "one more thing before I stop." I'll check this planet. I'll finish this mission. I'll see what that signal is. I'll repair this ship. Then suddenly a lot more time has passed than expected. I still don't know how long I will stick with this game. Maybe I'll play for 50 hours, maybe hundreds. But I can already say this game completely changed my expectations. I expected an endless game that I would get bored of quickly. Instead I got a game that keeps making me curious. There is so much to do, but it somehow doesn't feel overwhelming. Great game.
No Man's Sky is a game with one of the biggest redemption stories in video game history. When it launched in 2016, it was a massive disappointment. The game was far from what the developers promised, and it got heavily criticized. But Hello Games did not give up. They kept working on it, releasing regular and often huge updates completely for free. Over the years, they turned a project that was practically written off into one of the best space sandbox games ever made. It is a perfect example of how a studio should treat its game, and many others could learn from them. The game itself is set in an almost infinite procedurally generated universe with over 18 quintillion planets. Every planet is different, offering a wide range of environments to explore. You can find water planets, planets with no colors, planets with extreme storms, and many more. The variety keeps exploration fresh, and you never really know what you will find next. The gameplay systems are very well done. Every upgrade you get actually feels meaningful, and you notice the difference. There is also a great building system that lets you create bases anywhere, from mountain tops to deep underwater. You can play the game in co-op with friends, which makes the experience even better. The game also regularly features expeditions, which are timed community events with unique objectives and exclusive rewards. During these, you play together with thousands of other players, which creates a great sense of community. No Man's Sky is incredibly addictive, especially if you are the type of person who needs some linearity to stay focused, but then ends up doing a million other things anyway. You can easily sink thousands of hours into it. There is always something to do. You can explore planets, trade with alien races, hunt pirates, go fishing, build bases, manage a fleet, or just follow the main story. The game lets you find what you enjoy and just do that. TLDR; No Man's Sky went from a broken mess at launch to one of the best space games ever thanks to years of free updates. It offers endless exploration, many activities, and great co-op, but its massive sandbox can feel overwhelming.
Pros:
- Developers keep adding free content regularly - Incredible variety of planets to explore - Great building system - Fun to play in co-op - Regular expeditions with exclusive rewards - Very addictive - Many different activities to choose from - Every upgrade feels meaningful
Cons:
- It is a huge sandbox, and the overwhelming freedom can be too much for some players
Overall rating: 10/10

With an almost limitless universe to discover, the game constantly rewards curiosity through exploration, survival, crafting, and discovery. Its impressive scale is matched by a steady stream of content that provides players with countless opportunities to forge their own adventure. Rather than following a heavily scripted narrative, the game presents a mysterious journey centred around ancient civilisations, strange anomalies, and the secrets of the universe. The story unfolds gradually through exploration and encounters with various alien races, encouraging players to piece together its lore at their own pace. While the narrative may feel understated compared to traditional role-playing games, it successfully complements the game's emphasis on freedom and discovery. Gameplay offers remarkable variety, combining planetary exploration, resource gathering, crafting, trading, base building, and space combat into one cohesive experience. Every planet introduces different environments, wildlife, and hazards, ensuring exploration rarely feels repetitive despite the game's enormous scale. Multiplayer features and regular updates have further expanded the experience, giving players even more ways to collaborate and explore together. Visually, No Man's Sky creates a colourful and imaginative universe filled with breathtaking landscapes and unique planetary ecosystems. Procedurally generated worlds often produce stunning vistas, ranging from lush forests to hostile frozen wastelands and vibrant alien oceans. The atmospheric lighting, detailed spacecraft, and impressive visual effects combine to create an immersive science fiction setting that remains captivating throughout extended play sessions. Overall, No Man's Sky succeeds in delivering one of the most expansive exploration games available, supported by years of meaningful improvements and additional content. Although certain mechanics can become repetitive over time and the story remains relatively subtle, the sheer freedom, creativity, and sense of discovery consistently outweigh these shortcomings. Players seeking a vast sandbox filled with exploration, construction, and adventure will find an engaging experience that continues to evolve long after the journey begins. No Man's Sky gets a 8/10. This game offers some gorgeous and truly unique visuals and experiences and is *close* to being a great game... But unfortunately it is not. The main issue for me is the lack of a real hook. There isn't a sense of progression or challenge - something big or rewarding to work towards. The procedural generation is gimmicky and soulless which for me killed my drive to explore after the first 2 star systems and they haven't really offered anything to replace that. I thought I would try the "swarm" expedition but again that was just tedious, shallow and ultimately seemed pointless. I was engaged for a while in setting up some money making methods, but then I realised what the heck will I even do with the money? There's nothing really worth chasing. The game is very shallow when compared to what it could be and probably should be. I enjoyed my 50ish hours enough, and I am thankful for the experience, but I don't think I will be playing any more.
I bought this game in 2016 at release and to be honest i loved it then. i loved the idea, the concept and the ambition behind it. I think i sunk 100 hours in the first month it was out and I felt like i got my money's worth out of my play time then so i didn't complain much or leave any reviews. I was a bit disappointed at some of the over hype and missing promised features and some bugs as I'm sure a lot of people were in the beginning but look at what its become! look at all the missing features and empty promises from all the Kickstarter projects and fraudulent cash grab rug pull scams that early access game developers have thrown in our faces between now and then. The team at hello games has proven to be nothing but faithful and loyal to its player base and the gaming industry as a whole. they're dedicated and earnest. They could have taken our money and cut and run but they didn't and what an honest accomplishment they've achieved through no mans sky and all of the updates! They have my trust in the face of a whole lot of crappy dishonest development rug pull cash grabs and i couldn't be more thankful and proud of what they've accomplished! Every free update since launch has expanded a game and a universe with a living soul that's simply blown my mind at times and given me experiences i didn't know were possible through video games!. I can't wait for Light no fire and don't rush it this time guys. Let it cook, we're all here waiting with all the trust and goodwill you've earned! At least from me anyway <3
Nice and chill. Mechanics are simple and the gameplay loop is kind of whatever you want it to be. Gameplay loop at its core revolves arounds gathering minerals from different planets and traveling between systems inhabited by either small, trade oriented lizard merchants who do not seem entirely trustworthy, orcs with a very warrior-like mentality who sound like they might invade a neighbour if given a chance or clankers. There looks to be a 4th race but I'm not at the station to socialize so read a wiki or something. Expeditions bring a new twist typically revolving around the latest update, some have been great, others not so much. A bit of variety is always welcome regardless. Most important part is that the game has taken galactic steps forward from the abomination it used to be. Try it out, at this point the content is so varied there is bound to be something there for almost anyone. I've spent a bit of time with this game and still haven't tried everything the game has to offer.
Really fun game but it only lasts for a while. It gets boring and repetitive after. Its more fun with friends.
