Reviews

Gameplay 8/10 Story 8/10 Atmosphere 8/10 I had a lot of fun with this one. Honestly, it's the closest thing to a perfect 3D sonic game we've ever gotten. The movement is actually really good and satisfying and lets you really feel like you're running fast as ♥♥♥♥. At the same time, there's still that sweet little touch of jank to remind you that you're playing a sonic game. Like, it's somehow the perfect amount where you will only occasionally get annoyed, but never near enough to make you want to turn off the game. The story is pretty good for a sonic game too. There's some genuinely funny banter, and some surprisingly deep conversation and story. But then they'll throw the dumbest, cheezball one-liner with the delivery of a early 2010's Let's Play Youtuber trying to force a joke in a video, and again, it reminds you you're playing a Sonic game. And I love it. The gameplay loop works really well. It's part open world - which actually is really well made for just zooming around the map - and there are "portals" that take you to shorter, more traditional levels that you have to complete for key items. Some levels are more old school side-scroller type levels, and some are the newer 3D ones. So they really did cram everything from the past games into this with an open world to explore on top of it. And they even threw in a fun fishing mini-game on top of it all. 10/10 would recommend if you've ever enjoyed a Sonic game before.

una obra maestra
great openworld runs great on lowend hardware mods are fun
The game is worth it on a deep discount, 10 or 15 Dollars, but the game gets very repetitive. Unlike traditional sonic, you go out and collect memory tokens half of the time, and when you do go into cyber space, the 3D camera almost works but it's just a little to janky at times.
