For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. About
Eternal Strands is a third-person fantasy action game where ARPG-style elemental mastery meets open-zone exploration and improvisation. Players step into a richly reactive world, not just to follow a path, but to forge one.
You play as Brynn, a young Weaver, wielding fire, ice, and kinetic magic as tools of survival, strategy, and power. Whether freezing a dragon’s wings mid-flight or tearing apart the battlefield with physics-driven chaos, every encounter demands quick thinking and creative control, not just reflex.
With full traversal freedom, dynamic environments, and colossal foes that must be scaled and outwitted, Eternal Strands invites players to explore on their terms and fight on their instincts. There are no locked builds, no scripted solutions - just raw power, a broken world, and the legend you choose to create. A game where the elements obey you, the terrain bends to your will, and every victory is entirely your own.
At the heart of Eternal Strands beats a revolutionary new system for gameplay interactions: heat spreads, cold chills, and real-time destruction allows for unprecedented reactivity in combat. Hurl burning tree trunks at enemies with telekinetic powers, snap nearby trees to block opposing fire, or channel raw telekinetic force to rip boulders from the ground.
Wear the Mantle, a magical cloak that channels raw magic into raging flame, chilling ice, and telekinetic force. Combine your growing array of powers with enchanted weapons and armor crafted from slain enemies to create a custom look and style. Block incoming attacks with a wall of magical ice, lash out waves of flame from a massive two-handed blade, or toss enemies off a cliff with raw force.
Face gigantic adversaries and defeat them through a mix of sword, spell, and mobility. Leap onto and climb their massive forms to attack from different angles. Shatter armor or slice at weak spots to diminish their protection. Use ice to pin limbs of a towering foe, arcane flames to burn their fur, or catch lobbed projectiles and turn their attacks back upon them in battles that will leave scars upon the land.
Enhance the effectiveness of your ice abilities during a flash freeze to open up new paths. Use a heatwave to start a wildfire and watch it spread towards enemies as it consumes the tinder-dry trees and grass around it.
Explore the wilds, the capital city of Dynevron, and the secrets beneath as every surface is climbable. Magical abilities can create bridges, burn barriers, or launch Brynn across the world. The next-generation physics system encourages and rewards player creativity in exploration as much as combat. As the Enclave’s secrets unfold, return to base camp to consult with a rich cast of characters. Each are keen to discover the mysteries of what happened to this lost bastion of power and knowledge.
A realm of mystery, opportunity, danger, and wonder: the Enclave awaits.

Abandonware - So very close to being an amazing evolution of "Shadow of Colossus", but lacking basic QoL features. Elemental statuses are centerpiece, yet armor lacks ANY explanation of what the stat numbers and effects actually do, a trend that sadly carries over to gameplay and quests as well. It's as if they finished the systems and pushed the game without a second thought to how someone without their internal understanding of systems actually plays. Also, the devs replied to technical issues (no way to manually disable motion blur, for example) 1year+ ago with "We hear you and will work on it post-launch" ...-Which was a blatant lie. Exact same issues still persist. Further the game suffers from unexplained flickering during cutscenes, if you turn graphical settings too high, ridiculous...
I expected a much more fun and combat-focused game, but unfortunately, the experience was quite different. The combat system is bland; fighting regular enemies offers no satisfaction whatsoever, while the giant enemies, which should be the true focus of the game, are only moderately entertaining for the first few hours, but quickly become repetitive and, in some cases, even frustrating. The reasons for this frustration can range from cumbersome and unstable climbing, the virtually uncontrollable direction of the main character's jumps, and the general lack of polish in various mechanics. While the combat isn't exceptional but can still be entertaining, the writing is practically nonsensical. The writing in this game is just terrible, some of the worst I've ever had the misfortune of reading: it's forced, devoid of emotion or impact, and, worse still, completely unrealistic and preachy.

Curieux.
This game is solid enough that I feel bad leaving a negative review, but the truth of the matter is that this game just isn't that fun to play. The magic is underwhelming, the boss fights quickly grow repetitive and are quite janky, and it just didn't hold my interest enough to make me want to keep playing. I unlocked 6 of the 9 powers and every one of them has been a resounding "meh".
This game has excellent mechanics and a pretty satisfying gameplay loop... when it lets you actually do it. This game also has some of the worst pacing I've had the displeasure of experiencing. With gameplay this good, I cannot believe they insist on wasting your time with tons of dialogue that isn't even good. No offense to the writers, but you need to work on your craft, because I couldn't care about any of these people, and they were just annoying and blockers to what I was here for, which is the stellar and very dynamic combat with large enemies. If the devs just went all in on the boss fights and made it more like MH than it already is, I think this would be such an easy recommendation from me. Let me put it this way; If you front load your gameplay, I understand what your game will expect from me and what I can expect from your game. If you make it so that you can skip through boring parts easily to get back to the gameplay, that will make it much easier to get back to that gameplay. If you front load your story, then I don't even know if I'm going to like the game enough to care about your story. If you make it so that you can't easily skip through boring parts to get to the gameplay, that will make it harder to get back to that good gameplay. With me so far? Now let's add this onto that: People who are patient enough to sit through a story will likely be patient enough to sit through gameplay focused sections, but people who are impatient and just want gameplay will quit your game if you keep stopping them from playing it... You're dropping your players who are easy to keep by focusing too much on ones that would be sticking around anyways because the story interests them... Also, less is more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I honestly can't see them fixing these issues without pretty much fundamentally changing the game and it's pacing/structure, so... while the fights are (for the most part) very interesting and quite fun, an awesome mix of Shadows of the Colossus, Monster Hunter, and Dark Souls, it's really held back by an absolutely terrible pacing, which is a shame because I want to like this game so bad.
Playing on normal, I think I'm around 80% done. At first, I was really having fun with the gameplay, which was a mix of BOTW and Shadow of the Colossus. Art design looked nice, and the game performed well enough. But for some reason, I didn't care at all for the story or the characters. And the "colossus" fights have become tedious and frustrating, I don't want to do them anymore. Whenever I get this far into a game, I almost always soldier on to the end to get some closure. But for this one, I have zero motivation to continue. If I do decide to, most likely I'll dial it down to story mode. I got this game on sale for around $7, and I think the game has given me more than that in terms of entertainment. But I'm still saying "don't recommend" because this is a mediocre game, and I wouldn't want to recommend mediocrity to anyone.
The combat is okay, not great. The monster hunter style is kinda cool, but it gets repetitive and just doesn't really feel impactful or polished. The dialog is god awful. I consider myself a progressive, but this feels like it is a parody of a 2012 tumblr fan fic. This is coming from someone who largely enjoyed Dragon age The veilguard... It is genuinely SO bad. I'm not sure what AO3 addicted white millennial they got to put this together, but this is not how human beings sound. This is not how they interact. Please go outside and talk to other human beings before trying to write again. 4/10
I'm now at the age with two little kids that gaming is not something I get much time for. I usually play on my steam deck in half hour chunks. Eternal strands is perfect for this type of gaming. The game doesn't do anything terribly new, but it is easy to get into (not that daunting I don't have time to understand this that sometimes happens), the gameplay is fun and keeps you interested, and the story is nothing amazing, but told very well in a way that keeps you interested in the next part. I don't finish many games nowadays, as I tend to think I've seen everything I need and move onto the back catalogue, but I did finish this game. I would definitely recommend it.
I can't believe more people aren't talking about Eternal Strands!! This game has so much heart. Exploring the world, combining magic with physics, climbing giant creatures, and getting to know the cast was an absolute joy. You can tell the devs poured love into it. One of my favorite surprises in recent years, and I hope it finds the audience it deserves.
