I love the atmosphere initially but it quickly feels redundant after awhile. For those not familiar with the Sokal’s previous games Sinking Island can probably be skipped. But for those that are willing to overlook the faults and truly enjoy the process of figuring out just what is going on in Sinking Island it is reasonably priced enough to warrant trying out.

I would love to be able to recommend this game, but I really can't. It's an older game from Benoit Sokal, who also made the Syberia games, and has a lot of similarities; but there are a number of unfortunate aspects to this game that make it frustrating rather than enjoyable. Which is a great pity,; this game clearly has a story to tell and I want to know what happened. But I couldn't stick to it, because: * We have a magical thing that tells us what room a person is, but no map to tell us where the library or the workshop is. A simple "it's on the 17th floor" would have made a lot of difference. * Relevance? What relevance? Go ahead, interrogate every single person about the hotel's restaurant menu. Is there supposed to be a way for me to know who is likely to have useful information, or do I just ask everyone about everything? The same question voice line repeated to every single suspect gets tiresome. * There's no "Read" option for handwritten documents. If it's hard for Jack Norm to read, it's hard for the player to read. * It's a common problem in point-and-clicks, but the pixel hunt phenomenon is very real here, and there's no key to press for "show me everything that's clickable". Not a killer on its own, but if you didn't click on the right thing previously, you can't ask someone about it, and... * ... there's a LOT of walking to be done. No fast travel option, just walk the whole way. * No autosaves. What finally killed the game for me was losing the past hour of investigation due to accidentally clicking outside the game window, which completely broke the game. Without autosave, that wiped the entire session's work. Again, on its own, not a killer, but the piled-up frustrations with the game left me disinclined to repeat it all. I would love to be able to recommend this game. Really I would. Maybe some of the technical problems are solvable (in my fantasy, a localisation change could add floor numbers to all the room names), but as it is, it's just not something I am willing to recommend.
Yardım almadan bitirmek oldukça zor olduğundan. Yardım almanız tavsiye edilir. Eğlenceli bir dedektiflik oyunuydu.
I hate to do that as I see dev work behind my play time, but here I have tried to solve the bug on day 2 with Nolent fax. I have reloaded (8 times) from the automatic save and tried other patterns (like suggested in some forums) but without luck... This is 8 hours lost as the fax is a must have part of the story. I am so sorry but I can't afford to redo all without being sure it does not occur another time
Whilst this is far from a perfect game, I feel that the mixed rating it currently has is a bit unfair. Yes, it has problems, but it is on the whole still a decent point and click detective game. Things i lik - The actual detective work has [in my opinion] the right amount of guidance. You do have to present appropriate statements and evidence to support the right answers, but the answers are broken down well so no single step is too big or complex, and the people's statements only contain isolated phrases of potential importance rather than literally everything they have said, so even by the end of the game you typically have no more than 15 statements per person. - The mystery itself is well done. Plenty of intrigue and twists but nothing you couldn't see coming or at least claim it doesn't make sense in hindsight. - The characters are pretty deep, nobody is one-dimensional. - For its time, the visuals are surprisingly good, and the sound design is excellent. - Game tells you where you can find everyone at any given time so you don't have to play hide and seek on what can be a very big map. Things I disliked - Map too big, especially at the start. I understand why, but it is annoying that the game map is largest at the start of the game and then gets steadily smaller as it progresses. Many of the scenes are completely pointless as well. As an example, at the start of the game you need to walk to the hotel. Across about 10 different transitions. All but 3 of these serve no purpose but to drag out the walk; a walk you'll need to repeat at least twice as you need to return to the start area at least once later. - Pixel hunts for items. Classic elderly point and click game problem. You find a drawer with an obvious false bottom, what can you use to pry it open? The screwdriver you have on you? No. You need knife! Where is [apparently] the only knife in the entire hotel and grounds? In a single, tiny kitchen drawer that is only visible in a single scene and has no indication that, unlike every other kitchen drawer, this one is interactable with. They could've at least made it a knife block or something. - No way to skip between scenes. You can double click to run but it still can take a good 10-20 seconds to move across a scene. - No widescreen support. The game only comes in one resolution that can be slightly adapted to better fit a 16:9 or 16:10 monitor. That's it. Overall I'd give this game a 7/10 and if I'd played it when it first came out probably an 8/10.
