About

Find and identify new plants, pet your cat, speak to a coven, or join a cult. Use your growing collection to influence the story and unravel Undermere’s dark mysteries.

Welcome to Undermere, a quaint town surrounded by hag-infested forests and rugged mountains. You are the Horticulturist, owner of local plant store Strange Horticulture. As a cast of colorful customers come by your shop, you are quickly thrust into an occult mystery stretching back hundreds of years.

Explore the lands beyond your store to find new plants, but be careful! The dark woods and lakes are not always friendly to a simple herbalist. You might discover powers beyond your wildest dreams - or lose your mind completely. Use context clues to determine which places to visit, and which to avoid!

Using your trusty encyclopedia and clues found on your explorations, you learn more about the strange plants you come across. By identifying each plant, you will be able to use their effects to influence the story -- from hypnotic hallucinogens to powerful poisons.

It feels more like work than a game, and not a cool job where you do interesting things, but a tedious repetitive one, that'll turn you into an old man, squinting and hunched over your screen trying to read the minuscule text. The main gameplay is just about flipping through a book and identifying plants from their book description, then writing little tags on those you have identified and eventually re-order them alphabetically because it will be soon getting unmanageable as the interface is @ss and you'll be spending half your time moving things around to remove clutter in your work areas. More than sixty slightly different plants to identify, tag and and drag around in the greenhouse that is too small, believe me that's a lot of work. That could have been cool as a side gameplay, but not as the main gameplay loop as it is the case here. The real problem here is that identifying the plants just feels like a formality because you're not really doing any intellectual work, except maybe for a couple tricky cases toward the end that try to send you astray with vague or purposely wrong descriptions. So there's never really a sense of reward, you just feel like you just accomplished a chore that will let the story progress mechanically until the next one. Some of the map puzzles can be slightly interesting but they're rare. The story is banal and gated behind plant identification, then delivered without a hint of dramatic flair by the ugly drawn NPCs. The music would be considered too gloomy for a funeral home.
(follow my curator page GenXPlayers for more retro and indie reviews)
very cozy and calming. loved the puzzles, storytelling, and ofc hellebore. replayed it to see the different endings and still had fun.
♥♥♥♥ ennis tho
Great game!! I wish the desk portion was smaller so that the greenhouse could be seen bigger. Super fun and intresting!
What a delightful little game. Highly recommend it if you’re into plants, mysteries and puzzles, and/or getting to organise and label stuff.
It scratched that itch of wanting to play something cozy, slow and not demanding, while solving some puzzles and being a little bit nosy. I just wish someone told me to order the plants alphabethically from the beginning of the game, because it was pain to find anything when having full shelf of them.
Idealny poziom trudnosci, ktory nie frustruje, a pozwala wytezyc szare komorki. Katalogowanie roslin jest na swoj sposob odprezajace. Historia rowniez wciaga.
I loved this game and getting to pet the cat! I found it very cozy and relaxing especially on rainy days and the game has a spooky side that revolves around plants and murder 👻 It is a puzzle game so it can be hard to figure out at points but over all I loved it ☺️
This game was so fun! I really enjoyed solving the puzzles -- they were challenging and used a wide variety of puzzle solving techniques.
