Ok now remake Silent Hill 4: The Room (My most beloved Silent Hill)

I played the original on the PSX back in the day and oh boy did I ever love it - I only played it at night when everything was dark as possible. I absolutely loved the atmosphere in that game and it truly is one of the best horror games of all time. I then was going to play Silent Hill 2 buy my PS2 got stolen and I didn't get another one so I didn't end up playing it. I did, however, play 3 on the PC and absolutely loved it. Then, the games started to get really bad and I couldn't care to play much of any of them after 3 which was quite a disappointment. I always wanted to play Silent Hill 2 modded to hell and back for graphics on the PC but never got around to it and then Konami did me the absolute pleasure of making a stellar remake so I am now experiencing Silent Hill 2 for the first time in full 4k, 144hz, true HDR on a flagship QDMini LED 65QM9K with all the graphics pumped to the max and it looks so good it is actually crazy. Side note, in the middle of playing this I moved from a Samsung 65" Q80T that was QLED but didn't have a backlight array that could do HDR to the TCL flagship and this is probably one of the best games possible to see that transition and what real HDR looks like - which OLED has no chance of even coming close to producing - and it is absolutely jaw dropping and incredibly immersive. I can't speak to how this is different from the original but from playing 1 and 3 it seems like a faithful recreation of the game as it does play like the old ones with a bit smoother controls but still an old school game without a doubt. I am enjoying this game thoroughly and the only problem is that I only like to play Silent Hill games at night when it is dark so I don't get enough time to play but I am making it through and loving every second of it. The atmosphere is top notch, the gameplay is exactly what I expected, I love playing remakes of older games as they don't hold your hand and generally are just a better experience overall when you're having to pull out your map, read through some notes, and figure out where you're supposed to be going and doing rather than just have a marker to blindly follow. Honestly, I am loving everything about it and I got it on a very good sale so I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I am getting way more than my money's worth on this one. Anyways, if you like survival horror games I don't think this is one that you could or should miss as it truly is one of the greats brought into the modern era with passion and skill. There are some annoying issues as it is based on Unreal 5 which is by far the worst engine out there so you'll have some stutter and lumen is pretty much garbage but there are enough mods out there and ray regeneration that you can make up for the vast majority of complaints and then some. Final note, if you get this make sure to get the mod that unlocks the FPS in the cutscenes as going from a fluid 144hz to 30 is so jarring and a bit nauseating but it is extremely simple to sort out - it is a choice they made that I just can't understand why. So, should you buy it at full price? I would think that die hard survival horror / Silent Hill fans should support this game but they are asking way too much for their games overall so I say wait for a sale, as they go on all the time, and grab this for 25-50% off and you'll be extremely happy with your purchase. I think I was able to snag this for $23 Canadian dollerydoodads and I feel like I robbed them for what I've got out of it so far and I've no idea how much longer it is as I generally like to not look up anything about a game I am looking forward to really enjoying. My conclusion thus far is that it is a fantastic remake of a classic that no survival horror fan should miss but I think full price is too steep for wait for a sale and get it then. That being said, there is a lot of game here and no MTX/online BS so if you really want to support that then go full price but it's just too much for me - good thing it goes on sale all the time. Playing it on a TV that can actually do HDR (so no OLED) with my PC specs and a sick controller (Gamesir Pro 8k wireless gold edition) is such a pleasure - I can't speak to kb/m as this is squarely a controller game. Haven't finished it yet but so far at least a solid 8/10 and possibly even higher.

I've yet to play the original game so I can't judge how good of a remake it is, but as a game of it's own it's amazing. I absolutely hated playing through it in a very good way, not many games made me feel so much emotions. It is a terrifying and exhausting experience that I can't stop thinking about. Beautiful graphics, incredible atmosphere and sound design and a great, deep and emotional story that tackles themes many modern games would be afraid to talk about.
