Great idea, poor execution. I give it an upvote purely because it spawned the Xanthiom games, which are amazing. Go buy Xanthiom 2 which includes a full remake of Xanthiom Zero for free. After playing through those, maybe buy this game if you’re curious, but expect a rough ride. The dev clearly learnt a lot and has massively improved with experience.
An excellent metroidvania/zelda hybrid that constantly uses the gimmick of switching from isometric 2D and sidescrolling 2D in clever ways. The dungeons are incredibly solid with interesting puzzles and fun layouts, and the overworld is small and dense enough that backtracking never feels like a chore. This and Xanthiom Zero both deserve infinitely more praise and notoriety than they get. At this point, anything this Mathan makes is a day one purchase for me.

"Side Scape" is a great little indie-title with a unique mechanic (switch instanly between 2D platformer and Top-Down Zelda-like) that is implemented very well (after you get used to the perspective switch). Storywise you play two heroes from different dimensions merged together in their quest to undo this: it really taps into meta-narrative, but keeps it's light tone and is solid throughout. Pixelart and spritework are a bit on the amateurish side, sound is okayish and combat with the knight can be a little wonky in early game, but the unique premise and the charming, if rough package should get more recognition! A definite recommendation for everyone who looks for a new Zelda-like of old!

Interesting game concept. You are using the same maps as both a Zelda-like movement character as well as a Metroid-style character.
Metroidvania Zelda-like mashup, sounds strange as hell but it is a little gem. Cool concept, nothing truly unique about the playstyles other than the mashup so it should be easy enough for most people to pick up and play. The game has been very fun so far! I saw that the dev also put out a prequel game which is a Metroid-like/vania. I'll finish this one and then jump on over!
This game is fantastic. It's a quirky combination of 2D Exploration Platformers and Top Down Zelda like games. The best part of the game are the puzzles that incorporate changing from 2D to Top Down at an instant. Short and sweet, this was a great time.

A pretty neat game! The powerups you find are pretty interesting, and having two characters with their own abilities and health bars adds an extra layer of strategy to boss fights that I think's pretty cool! The top-down combat can feel a little stiff at times, though later powerups I found helped a lot. (And also I play a lot of platformers so I'm just generally not as practiced at top-down combat, so that's probably a factor too.)
I spent quite a while trying to defeat the dragon thing boss with Grisham before finally using the knight and realizing it was way easier since I could just use the shield to knock back the projectiles and stun it. Which makes complete sense given that thing is the final boss of the knight's world, so of course it would be designed around his abilities!
The music's neat too! It's a pretty cool game, and I enjoyed it!
