Bat Boy is a bit difficult to judge for me. At its core it is very much a game that imitates the style of old NES action platformers like Mega Man and it does so fairly well. The problem is that it is only competent at everything, not outstanding. The obvious comparison is of course Shovel Knight, and it does just about everything better. Better graphics, sounds, music, control, character design, everything is amazing. Bat Boy, while good, just doesn't reach that level. All in all Bat Boy does get a thumbs up from me, but with the caveat that better games are available.
A great throwback to older games but with all the polish you expect from more modern titles. Similar to Shovel Knight in a lot of ways, and there's also a bit of Mega man here too. Wish this game had more reviews, so more people might find it. If it looks like your kind of thing - I'd highly recommend it.
Her bölümün sonunda kaçırılıp beyni yıkanan arkadaşlarımızdan biriyle dövüşüyor, onları yendiğimizdeyse yeni yetenekler kazanıyoruz. Not: 7/10 Bu oyunu sevdiyseniz şunları da deneyebilirsiniz: Shovel Knight, Batbarian, Owlboy
Daha fazla incelememe göz atmak isterseniz Steam Küratör sayfamı ziyaret edebilirsiniz: Pikselatör
Fun shovel knight like game
a very fun platformer that just feels good to play. nothing too crazy here but its just what you need to feel cozy with a fresh game
Let's make this short: Simple, effective, fun upgrades, facepalmed at some jokes but I think that was the point. The levels are fun to navigate, and I really had the desire to 100% every levels. I never felt like "Ah, sh*t.. I gotta get back in..", which is pretty good. Only things that I could consider a negative (although not a fun killer in any way) is that to some extent, you become too strong. I had a hard time for a moment, then it became smooth sail until the end. That's a positive in the sense that you really do upgrade and get more efficient, but even the challenges in the final stage felt like "meh..", and the worst part is: Even the final boss becomes way too easy, if you make good uses of your skills. Just, be aggressive and get it over with.. and it's done. So yeah, for retro fans? Absolutely, give it a shot! It's a fun throwback to fast-paced, tight control retro games. For those of you who wants a challenge, well.. Speedrun and another hidden mode are available for you, I guess? ;) Still, I think it's worth discovering. Good job, Devs. I had a great time. :)
Hard to complain, 4 hour bopper for a couple bucks on sale. The game doesn't soar to extreme heights and it gets a lot easier as you acquire health/stamina upgrades and powers. The enemies are all pigs for some reason and the theming of the level won't match the theming of the boss (i.e spooky mansion with another sports theme boss). Powers and level design are good, music is good, the game doesn't waste your time and it's easy to get in flow. Pogs all around, definitely not a must-play but worth your time.
An amazing tribute to NES games of old, retaining that long-lost feeling that when games are hard... The problem isn't the game, it's YOU. Great graphics and level design, and some really funny humor put the bow on a wonderful package. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Feels like Shovel Knight. The Story is Bonkers, but the Game is good. Really nice Platformer with good level design. The levels actually feels like different and unique areas.
If you grew up with NES / SNES / or even the Genesis/Mega Drive - you owe it to yourself to play this game. The gameplay is incredibly smooth and fun with awesome new abilities and mechanics that you get along the way. The soundtrack and level design are *chef's kiss* and I had a smile the entire time. You can bet it under 6-8 hours, but it's absolutely worth it. My only gripe with it is that the potions and assigned to the trigger buttons and really should be an item in the menu to use so you don't consume it accidentally - also I went 90% through this with 3 hearts, and didn't know until the end of the game that you can upgrade your health to get more - I wish they forcefully showed it early on like how they showcase the new abilities you get after each level. But the pros heavily outweigh the cons - and for the on-sale price under 5 bucks, you cannot beat that. PLAY THIS GAME Score: 9.2/10
