About
Explore nature as a lynx and raise your cubs in the brutal, but beautiful, tundra.
Be on your guard, because you are both predator and prey. Feed your cubs and keep them safe and enjoy those precious moments of peace and tranquillity whenever you can. But also remember that your own survival is the only thing that will guarantee theirs.
Shelter 2 features more elaborate gameplay features than its predecessor and includes gameplay features such as stamina, movements, jumps and a variety of prey to hunt. Besides hunting skills, there are also maternal features such as calling the cubs closer, sniffing out prey, drinking water from rivers and lifting and carrying your cubs from harm’s way.
A vast wilderness awaits
The environments in Shelter 2 are significantly much larger than those in its predecessor, offering more freedom than ever before and allowing you to find favourite spots in which to return. In the game world, weather and seasons change - harsh winters and blooming summers await you. The music is created by Retro Family, awarded for their work on the Pid Soundtrack, and the visuals have been reinvented by adding dense atmosphere and lighting to the patterned graphical art style.

super cute!! <3
In Shelter 1, if you don't feed your cubs enough, they will die and it's sad. In Shelter 2, if you don't feed your cubs a set of Santa's Reindeers every 3 seconds and bring rabbits in the sum of all Rabbits of the entire Rabbit franchise to your downed cubs (which happens every few minutes), they will die and it's annoying. You turned a sad consequence of a balanced mechanic into a frustrating and annoying occurrence. And the game is over within under two hours?! I don't think I've done two playthroughs on Shelter 1, but I got over 5 hours there. 3 Bucks per hour for Shelter 1 for a playthrough 18.5 for Shelter 2 Something is off. "Besides hunting skills, there are also maternal features such as calling the cubs closer, sniffing out prey, drinking water from rivers and lifting and carrying your cubs from harm’s way." Except practically none of them matters. You right click, aim for red prey, bite, eat/feed, repeat. And on the way, you find collectibles, seemingly meaningless. And if they have a meaning, you failed to communicate it in a meaningful way before the end of the playthrough was reached. As much as I loved Shelter 1, Shelter 2 failed to encapsule the greatness of the predecessor. I don't really regret having put off the game for 10 years. I haven't missed much. Which is a shame, as some fine tuning, a bit more content and an adjusted price tag easily could turn this review into a positive recommendation. Edit after second playthrough: The second playthrough was just little over 1h and all 4 survived. It's just VERY repetitive and doesn't give you time to roam. Hunt a little over one animal per minute gets you there. Five different animals, all just tiny bit different from each other. Plus two other types of food sources (nest on the ground plus nest in the tree). Which gives you a grand total of 3 methods getting to food. But then there are the mountains, locked behind a DLC... So much about "needs more content". Seems they have more content, but locked behind another paywall, which makes the game even more expensive calculated by playtime and even less worth to buy. The existence of the DLC dropped the game from a 3.5/10 to a 2.5/10. There are also different biomes, one even with actual danger when a pack of wolves roam, but there is no reason to go beyond your starting area. With strongly adjusted price tag, more content, a bit more variation in gameplay, less of a bulemia simulator and natural purpose to roam (don't just artificially force the player, make it a desirable option, so don't just force the player out of one biome by a catastrophe or food scarcity, make other biomes more bountiful, maybe depending on the season), this game could easily rise to a 7/10.
This was a very pretty game. Its almost more of an interactive art piece. There were many times however where i was a bit confused and I was tripped up by the odd pacing, and I feel like I didn't get a full grasp on the game, but that could have been a skill issue on my end. Overall I recommend it, definitely worth it!
Проебал кота я грустный
Its great!!
A cute and sometimes intense game from my childhood. For a more diverse and colorful game, you should definitely get Shelter 2 Mountains (more enemies and chips). I felt that the game was longer in the expansion than in the original version, although the plot didn't change. The graphics and music are enjoyable. The game is not very heavy, but it's addictive, and the locations are incredibly vast. You won't be able to explore the entire map in a single game. It definitely worth the money I paid
This game is hard....{thinking about all kits dying because of starvation} but you can learn the ways of the wild, So, you are a Lynx, and you have to try and protect, and feed your 4 kits, catch rabbits, mice and squirrels, and ITS SOOOOOOOOOOO DARN FUN
STOP. ✋ — Calm down mama bear! — Kids are fed 🍽️— Bills are paid 💸— And honestly? That’s powerful. 💖👍— Take a breath in, and give those zen vibes a second to KICK IN. 🧘
