Shadows of the Afterland is a solid point-and-click adventure game that doesn't overstay it's welcome. The beginning is so wild that it hooked me long enough to get into the real mystery of the game. I definitely got stuck on a couple of sections but luckily the game world is small enough that you can usually start running into buildings to find what you're after. My nitpick is that I can hear the varying audio quality of the voice actor's mics, likely due to multiple people using their own equipment to record their lines. It's easily forgiven but it did take me out of the game at times, especially compared to the main character's excellent vocal work and quality. It's a very interesting plot and once you understand how the world works the solutions don't feel like moon logic. I definitely recommend it for people who enjoy a solid mystery.
Lovely game, I really liked the characters, the voice acting was good and the puzzles were fun Also found a couple of cool easter eggs/references to other point and click adventure games :)
Nagyszerű játék! Csak a vége van kicsit összecsapva. 8/10
Soy aficionado a las aventuras gráficas desde pequeño: Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Simon the Sorcerer, Day of the Tentacle, Broken Sword, entre otras.
Consigliatissimo
Its a fun game that reminded me a lot of the Monkey Island game I played growing up. I love the puzzles and the story!
The game is pretty easy, but lengthy and story rich. I enjoyed it!
There's two titles that kept springing to my mind, well, one title and one series. We'll start with the theming and humour - this kept bringing to mind Grim Fandango, I know it's not, graphically it's FAR interior and this game came out 2026, Grim Fandango was what... 95? Anyway we can just pretend it's a stylistic choice, the other is the Wadjet Eye Games Blackwell Series for some of the game mechanics I think both of these comparisons do this game a credit. I also wanted to take just a second to point out how good the VA Work is. Honestly, i've played some games with terrible voiceovers where conversations have been had when you could tell neither voice actor was in the room with the other to get a sense of tone/pitch in response - this doesn't happen here. It feels very much like everyone was in the room doing readings and knew their assignments. This is truly a love letter to the Point & Click Adventure Titles. It's worth your time to play and enjoy.
I tried this game on Steam's recommendation after thoroughly enjoying Darkside Detective. But I couldn't enjoy this game, for one very simple reason: THE DIALOGUES ARE TOO G*DD*MN LONG!!! In less than half an hour of starting the game, I was already clicking through the dialogues without even caring what was said because their length was flat-out annoying. I can't recommend this.
