This game is a silly parody of popular 90's shooters, mostly Duke3d. It's worth the $10. All the typical tropes are here. Barely coherent story. Dumb manly man hero. Overpowered weapons. Bunnyhopping. Secrets. Interactive environments. Exploding barrels. 90's game references. Serious Sam levels of ammo/health/armor right before over the top ridiculous boss fights. Remember to not take this game seriously and you'll have a good time. As an example the name itself is a joke. There was never a "Brutal John 1". "Brutal John 2" is this same game renamed to "2" during early access. I'm hoping they rename the game to "Brutal John 3" when the full release goes live just to mess with people more. This is they type of humor the devs have and I love it! In the final spaceship level be sure to enter the DO NOT ENTER door for a surprise guest appearance lmao. I also love the addition of "The Vault" which unlocks after the main campaign. You can listen to the OST from inside the game in the vault (many 90's games such as the first C&C and Redneck Rampage had interactive music players built into the game!) in a recreation of an old interactive cd-rom running on Windows 95.
only game where you get to destroy a crypto empire
Brutal John 2 is a top-notch boomer shooter. Great graphics, weapon designs and good humour = a ton of fun. Full range of accessibility levels for those not wanting it too punishing. Devs are always dropping new content as well. Best game for me of 2025.
As far as boomer shooters go, this game is a straight banger! Environments are varied, combat is well balanced on hard, lots of guns to play around with, and short but funny cutscenes. Very good deal for the price
Technically solid, looks great, and has a collect-a-thon vibe that works really well.
This is such a fun game. It has a lot of charm. The gameplay is great. The voice acting is incredible. The story is campy but fun. There are a lot of aspects about this game that could have turned out bad. Somehow the devs have made a great game in earnest. This is a modern classic.
Honestly a pretty decent FPS action game. Game is fun without dragging on too long. I can really appreciate that this is actually enjoyable rather than just being all fart jokes and boring. Worth checking out.
Very good boomer shooter, a love letter to classic FPS. It's very much like a New Blood game without being one, and I hope if the devs make another game like it they can get a publishing deal with NB. Solid 8/10.
un boomer shooter de la conciencia del monooo, sale de EA a fin de año pero ya tiene sus 18 niveles principales de la campaña, la verdad un 10/10 por el nivel de boludes y lo bueno que es jugablemente.
Unique game. Im only at mission 4 but im having a lot of fun. It has a lot of cool secrets and it broke my heart to finish a level without seeing all of them. The game contains tons of homage to the boomer shooters genre and the content creators that cover them. Combat is alright, it's missing some blood and gore.
