It's definitely not a Saints Row game. It feels empty and a bit soulless. You need the expansion pack for 100% completion, and even on sale, both cost around 4.49 (euro). That's not even worth it, tbh. The graphics are great, but that's about it. Don't let this be your first Saints Row game.
So I bought this on sale at 85% off will all the expansion DLC and I was curious about what all the (anti) hype was all about. And just to be clear here, I have completed most of the previous Saints Row games before (2, 3, 4 specifically. Never got around to 1 because there's no female player option and Gat out of Hell just didn't vibe with me.) So after finishing the main story, side mission and expansions, as a Saints Row "veteran" what do I think of this game? ...Meh, it was ok. Was it a bit of a step down from the original series? Yeah, sure. But honestly, all the hate this game got is a bit overblown imho. And I think all the hat was mostly fueled by Volition's really bad reaction to the initial criticism. They should've taken a page from CDPR's book on how to handle a bad game release. Regarding the oft-cited bad points: Yes, the writing is cringy af. However, I had to remember that Saints Row has always been a bit of a parody of the crime simulator genre so I figured that if I imagine the tone-deaf storytelling as s somewhat intention parody of gen-z youth culture, I could (barely) give the writing a small pass for trying. Mechanically speaking, the game is actually pretty good. The combat shooting is fun. The driving is fun, The customization of nearly everything you own is fun. And even the added exploration and collectible features are a good distraction to work on and really highlights just how big the open world of Santo Ileso is. The overall journey you go through: starting from nothing and ending up becoming the most powerful crime lord in the city is still very satisfying. Most of the bugs that were present at the start has been mostly ironed out and the little jank that remains is annoying but not game-breaking. And even on my current potato PC, I only crashed once. So yeah, I recommend this game, with the caveat that this game is best enjoyed in a vacuum. If you can get it on sale, all the better, but I personally don't think I would've regretted buying this at full price either. If you can look past all the complaints about the ruined legacy of the franchise, you'll still have a good time over all.
After Only ONE HOUR playing this pile of trash I want to lobotomize myself and forget this ever happened. The first cutscene of the game lures you into a false sense of security that this game is going to be a true Saints row game until the boss opens their mouth and you realise the truth. The graphics are mediocre at best the voice acting is horrific and the gameplay is worse then the previous titles and it just feels like they needed a case grab and didn't really care about the game at all and the driving is even worse SO DONT BUY THIS PIECE OF TRASH GO PLAY THE OLD GAMES INSTEAD AND FORGET ABOUT THIS REBOOT
This is a decent game, but it's a bad Saints Row game. Firstly - There was NO need for this game at all Second - The map is boring, the story is forgettable, the characters are bland. Third - The music stations are pretty crap (although big up Sylosis and Slayer being on it) Fourth - The game feels so slow, opening things, calling people. all slow as hell Fifth - Where's my boy Johnny Sixth - What even were those 'gangs'? They weren't really introduced, the leaders and gangs died before I even knew they existed
I got this game on sale, I thought it would be really cool it looks nothing like the hype the trailer showed. So many graphic glitches no first person and abunch of other issues. This is no where near fun, get the original games dont waste your money on this crap.
TL;DR Ignore all the negativity. If you have ever enjoyed a Saints Row game you know exactly what to expect and will have a blast with this one, especially if you can snag it for $5 on sale. I honestly don't understand all the negativity towards this game. The reception kept me away from this game until a couple days ago when I got it on sale. As a big Saints Row fan I should not have listened to the moans and groans. This is the Saints Row game I have been waiting for since 2008. I feel like most of the hate this title received probably comes from an audience of people who have little to no experience with the series. Full transparency, this is coming from someone whose favorite game is Saints Row 2 which I have revisited and beaten countless times. Saint's row exists as a foil to the open world games which take themselves a little too seriously, mainly GTA, and has always been an outlet for silly gang violence and the stories that surround it. This really started with SR2 as the original game played it's cards much closer to their chest, a la "GTA but with gangs". SR 2 came out at the perfect time, alongside GTA IV which was notoriously serious, probably the most out of the GTA games. The advertising was literally side by side comparisons of GTA IV and SR 2, showing the over-the-top antics you'll get up to compared to the largely mundane setting of GTA IV (no matter how good the story telling). I mention this as Saints Row, at least after SR2, was never meant to be more than silly arcade gang violence. My biggest complaint with the series as it progressed through SR3, Gat out of Hell, and SR4, is that it went a little too far in the direction of "outlandish". By SR4 it was less about gangs fighting one another and fell more along the lines of Sci-Fi/Superhero roleplay. The combat and overall gameplay still felt enough like Saints Row to keep me engaged long enough to beat each of those titles and even revisit them for additional playthroughs, but something was missing - that balance SR2 struck between reality and silliness was gone. The series had leaned much too hard into silly territory. We don't talk about Agents of Mayhem. I appreciate the thematic choices fitting where they had taken their gameplay, but the game was bland and every mission felt literally exactly the same. All 52 of them. I am coming directly from playing that game, and this new Saints Row is MILES better than AoM. Saints Row 2023 feels like a call back to their primetime - Saints Row 2. The story is even similar to it where you are starting the gang from scratch and have to help put together a headquarters which you slowly upgrade throughout the coarse of the game. The over the top silliness from SR3 and SR4 is dialed back significantly, and I feel like they were able to strike that perfect balance like they did with SR2. SR 2023 takes everything done well in SR2 and expands upon it. The missions are varied and over the top, but fall within the realm of realistic within the universe. Every mission you complete unlocks some sort of upgrade or new feature for you to mess around with - the types of things other games would make you pay microtransactions for. The combat...well it's Saints Row combat. What do you expect? Enemies are spongey, have weird reactions when hit with bullets, and you probably fight a little too many of them in each mission. But that's Saints Row for you! It's arcady. It's meant to be. This is why I keep coming back to this series. It's nothing too complex but its FUN. The open world has been handled well imo. There's not a terribly large amount of things to discover, but there are activities for you to do in each section of the map which only grow in number as you progress through the story. Some open world games I play for exploration and discovery, some open world games I play to have fun checking off boxes on a list. This (and all saints row games) fall into the latter category. They also added criminal "ventures" which are basically side stories connected to some new development in your criminal enterprise. This feels pretty much like a ripoff of the similar concept in GTA Online, but hey, you don't need to reinvent the wheel. These business ventures add a nice distraction from the main story, which you also unlock some pretty fun things from. I am not terribly far into this game, but I am in awe at the amount of fun I am having with it when compared to the general sentiment this game has received. When I built my new PC I redownloaded GTA V to test out my new rig. I now am playing Saints Row 2023 about a month or two later. I am having way more fun with this game that I did with GTA V. Take it with a grain of salt, but I am generally shocked that this game got roasted as much as it did. It's a shame, because this will probably be the last Saints Row game we see due to the public reception.
this game made me cut my ♥♥♥♥ off and ♥♥♥♥ myself for fun
Saints Row 2022 Review
I can honestly say I had a really fun time with Saints Row (2022). Despite all the criticism surrounding its launch, I genuinely enjoyed playing through everything the game had to offer.

What I Liked
• The graphics are a noticeable improvement over the previous Saints Row games. • The franchise's signature humor and over-the-top moments are still here. • Santo Ileso is a huge map with plenty of activities and collectibles. I never ran out of things to do while going for 100%. • I disagree with people saying the world feels dead. Compared to previous Saints Row games, I actually found the map to be quite lively, with NPCs and random events making exploration enjoyable. • Most of the bugs and glitches people complained about at launch have been fixed. Playing the latest version, I rarely encountered any major technical issues, and the game felt much more polished than I expected.

What I Didn't Like
• I'm not a fan of the new cast of characters or the overall story. They just don't have the same charm as the characters from the older games. • The main story doesn't make good use of the massive world the developers created. Santo Ileso is huge, but the campaign rarely takes advantage of it, and the story itself ends surprisingly quickly. Because of these issues, I'd rank this game third in the franchise: 🥇 Saints Row: The Third 🥈 Saints Row 2 🥉 Saints Row (2022)

Final Thoughts
It's sad to know that Volition has shut down and won't be making any more Saints Row games. I still hope Deep Silver revisits the franchise one day whether that's with a new entry or, even better, a remake of Saints Row 1 or Saints Row 2. Overall, if you're expecting a perfect reboot, you may be disappointed. But if you can look past its flaws, there's still a genuinely fun open-world game here. I recommend picking it up on sale.
Such a shame what has happend to this franchise. Gameplay feels weird, getting constant crashes and no interesting characters for the first three hours of this game.
Não recomendo nem para o meu pior inimigo
Jogo terrível. Não há nada de inovador ou interessante aqui; as únicas mudanças perceptíveis são gráficas, e ainda assim consegue ser pior que o anterior. A história é péssima.
