Amazing game but a awful port. Juiced patch+ Dlc mod (and maybe dxvk) fixes this game to where it should've been.
seems like a very fun game broken port so dont bother steam can you PLEASE up your standards on quality control, please?
very poorly designed PC port, but Juiced and Clean Gentlemen Of The Row more than make up for it. Don't buy this game unless you're willing to find and install those packs/fixes. R.I.P IdolNinja
This game being a part of my childhood, it's a no brainer getting this game on PC (knowing how awful the pc port is and to get JUICED and GOTR). I have spent countless amount of hours playing this game on the Xbox 360, spending days and nights with just myself or with my friends playing it. Everything from the city, soundtrack, customization, to the story, characters, and gameplay is just beautifully perfect in my eyes. Nothing is better than driving around in Stilwater while blasting MCR or Deftones or frickin A7X on the radio. The base pc port without GOTR or JUICED or BOTH applied, this version of the game IS HOT GARBAGE. Thankfully I had help with fixing this up because of my friend and my favorite SR youtubers, Flippy and Mrsaintsgodzilla21. I recommend this to everybody who is willing fix the game up with GOTR. JUICED, and whatever thing that is necessary. RIP IdolNinja, thank you for your hard work for everything <3
My thoughts: Everyone should leave a negative review on this game in protest. The Steam version is shipped with broken content, filled with crashes, major FPS drops regardless of your hardware, and other really odd bugs. Using a patch (either Gentlemen of the Row or Juiced) you can fix this, but it's even still not recommended to use the steam executable, which is broken. I had to buy the game on GoG (luckily it's on sale right now), grab the executable from there, replace the steam executable, install a patch, and now the game seems to work smoothly with more FPS. The sad thing is, this is not the only game on steam that ships in a broken state. There's several others, generally really crappy PC ports or really old games, that require patches before they'll even boot. I can't in good faith stand by these practices, so instead of reviewing the actual game (which I really enjoy), I'll leave my negative review for visibility.
8/10 gameplay, 1/10 port, so I'm splitting the difference. Love the depth of character creation, love the amount of clothing to collect and the way the game plays with audacious side missions like insurance fraud without flying off the deep end like the later games. But also I was fighting the controls every damn step of the way, even after modding in fixes.
This is not a judgement of the gameplay itself. This is a warning that SAINTS ROW 2 is NOT playable on the Steamdeck! I have tried ALL versions of the Compatibility features plus some alternative measures, The game always crashes before it can reach the Main Menue. I repeat, in my experience this game is NOT playable on the Steamdeck and its rating as playable is not waranted.
certified chum classic thats for true such an insanely fun game i love it very much however this port is unfortunately horrendous so the Juiced patch is required to play it but it takes 5 seconds to download and it turns the game into one of the smoothest experiences i've ever had with an older title like this (it crashed once and it was basically my fault).
The best from its franchise, I've played it on console and the game has excellent execution of its plot, characters, map, music etc. First off, it's obvious the developers poured their whole passion into it, the antagonists are fleshed out, the characters (lieutenants) are distinct and the story is the perfect mix of both comedy and gloomy seriousness. It has both fun parts and emotional scenes that destroy you. The city actually feels alive, and the gangs are incredibly interesting. There's tons of (hidden) details, collectibles, activities, diversions, and easter eggs, too. You couldn't get bored with this game. The pc port is almost terrible, I had to download Juiced Patch in order to start a new game.
