About
The Celestial Collapse—a calamity caused by a colossal object crashing into the eastern lands known as Azuma. The devastating impact sent fragments of terrain to the skies above and the seas below. With the earth shattered, the power provided by the runes ceased to flow. The gods of nature vanished soon after. Mountains crumbled and fields withered, leaving the people with nothing…not even hope.
You awaken, startled by a dream of dueling dragons. You don’t remember how or why, but a voice resonates within you.
"Accept the power of an Earth Dancer. Use this power to save the land."
Experience Rune Factory reimagined! Guardians of Azuma is an all-new adventure that takes place in the never-before-seen eastern country of Azuma. Embrace your Earth Dancer powers and fight against the corruption spreading throughout Azuma to bring hope back to this once-prosperous land.
As an Earth Dancer, use the power of dance, sacred treasures, and fresh weapons like the Bow and Talisman to purify the land, your farms, and undo the Blight’s damage.
Don’t just mind the farm—rebuild entire villages! Construct and place buildings, enticing people to return to the villages and contribute. Revive the gods to bring vitality and valuable resources back to the plagued lands.
Experience beautiful Japanese-inspired character designs and aesthetics—from festivals, events, and monsters. Explore Azuma’s natural landscapes and its seasonal-themed locales steeped in tradition.

I've been chasing that "just one more hour" farming-sim high since I finished the My Time series, and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar scratched the itch for a while... but somehow I'd never played a Rune Factory game until now. Rookie mistake. This might genuinely be my favorite game in the genre. You're not choosing between "the farming game" and "the combat game" and "the dating sim," you get all three stitched into one system. Taking someone into a dungeon, watching how they fight, having them react to what's happening in combat — it makes the relationships feel earned in a way that a gift-giving loop alone never quite manages. The voice acting backs this up completely — every character feels distinct and thought-through, so the relationships actually land emotionally instead of feeling like flavor text. And that's on top of just genuinely fun weapon variety, a satisfying upgrade system, and village management/decorating that's its own delightful time sink. It's rare for a game to nail farming/life-sim comfort AND combat AND base-building AND romance all at once without one of those systems feeling like an afterthought. This one does. If you loved My Time at Portia/Sandrock or Grand Bazaar and haven't tried Rune Factory yet — don't wait as long as I did. ALSO I 100% recommend the Japanese VA but both did phenomenal. You can switch on the home screen.
I like the game. The farming and crafting might not be the main grind but the fight is more fun than the previous game. I also like the romance options and the story as well.
