Only Took me 4 years to finally get into this game. Lets talk about it. The switch version is rough, it looks and runs very bad (low fps, laggy, low res, low draw distance, the crosshatch effect). PC is so much better, and the unofficial patch/mod RF5Fix is great, easy to install and low impact. Really all it does is let you edit a config file so you can fix a lot of the games problems (mentioned above). That said Rune Factory 5 is a... slow start. Like... real, real slow. Like, one of the worst slow starts I've ever experienced (definitely in the top 5 bad/slow starts) in my multiple decades of playing 1000s of different games. I'd really recommend giving the game at least 15 -20 hours to build up before you decide fully invest or bug out. I know that's asking A LOT but that doesn't make it less true. Some tips to make the game about a zillion times faster: Figure out how to download, install and configure RF5Fix. Figure out cooking ASAP so you can cook food for RP for doing things without needing the bathhouse or your bed every few minutes, but also cooking sets you up with having good gifts to give to get those friendship levels up and every 5 homemade items you give to a person will get you a return gift from the person, this can be beyond invaluable. Make sure you fish for Rare Cans. I personally have the best luck in the ocean south of the festival grounds, you just need a fishing pole, and don't even bother looking for fish, just cast and a fish will spawn, these spawned fish seem to have a higher chance of being a junk item... which is what you want because one of the junk items is a Rare Can, which you can use to upgrade your weapon. The game doesn't tell you any of this even in a tool tip, but a rare can DRASTICALLY increases your chance of getting rare loot. Much later on you'll get even more loot with Happy Rings and 4 leaf clovers... but I really feel like the Rare Cans are many many times more important and you can get them pretty fast pretty early. Getting a Magic Ring accessory to decrease charge times of your tools helps a TON. Makes tilling, watering and gathering wood/stone muuuuch better. A bit into the game you can stack this by making your tools with the additional ingredients of any staff and a light ore (drops from sapphire nodes)... this drastically reduces the tools charge time... then you buff this even further by upgrading the completed tool with a sweet potato (oven baked yam) for even more charge speed. This brings weapon charge times from like 4 seconds to less than 1. As you upgrade your tools which gives them AOE abilities having low charge times saves you a ton of time with the 10s of thousands of wood/stone you'll need. Maybe a little more mid game, but keep your eyes peeled for a Heart Pendant (either through drops or crafting) because grinding crafting skills without the heart pendant is crazy slow, the Heart Pendant seems to give a huge buff to skill exp which includes combat skills as well as everything else. Also, one thing that took me almost the whole game to realize is that weapon rune abilities say a weapon... but they don't mean it. You can still use almost any ability with any weapon. Some great choices are the long sword Naive Blade ability for parry/riposte (basically turning RF into a souls-like) and the dual blades ability Blitz, which increases your swing speed for weapons AND tools. I'm extra tired and I'm gonna need to edit this for typos and mistakes several times, thanks.
Got bored, the 3D environment make it harder to view and navigate around the farm. I still prefer Rune Factory 4 mechanics.
I really really wanted to like this game, but I just don't feel like the developers really cared about quality gameplay. I've played previous Rune Factory games and loved them, but this one is so disappointing. The game is really slowly paced, which is not so bad if you want a cozy play, but it's also really limiting. My issue is the quests and goals are unclear, the game controls are poorly designed without an option to customize keys or utilize a gaming mouse, and the game is more boring and confusing then cozy. The whole game just feels thrown together without much thought, like they just needed to push out a product. The sad part is these issues could easily be addressed with some updates, but that hasn't happened in years since 2024, like the developers just gave up. Sad really, because I really wanted to enjoy this game.
Only 2% of players married Ludmila. I hate weebs and the cozy games community.
玩过3的推荐4,玩过4的推荐3,34都玩过的,不推荐5
Critically you can tear it apart but personally I enjoyed my time with this game. If you haven't played a game in this series before I strongly recommend starting with Rune Factory 3/4 instead
I love my husband
please go back to 2.5d
Wow. I got 4 and 5 and just wow. Feels like they were written by a 6 year old. Absolute trash. These characters are painfully juvenile and shallow. Yikes yikes yikes.
The Rune Factory offshoot of Harvest Moon introduced both combat and crafting to the farming genre. RF1 was iconic, and simply amazing for the time. RF2 had an annoying start, but got the job done. RF3 was back in the swing of things. RF4 had a dumb story (you do everything because you deeply love a dragon you just met), but the gameplay was pretty damn good. Now they made the jump to 3D, and it just feels bland. The music is more or less rehashed. The mechanics are all recycled from RF4. There's really not much here, and they have the same graphical problem that a lot of other games have: they made things simply too big and empty, and the NPCs too boring. It's not a bad game, but it's definitely not worth the price or your time. Go pick up Rune Factory 4 instead, and wait for RF6. They really phoned this one in. 2.9 stars out of 5.
