About
Seikyu is a quiet island sanctuary, hidden far from the noise of the human world. Here, yokai spirits live in harmony with nature and the turning seasons.
You and your sister begin your new lives in an old farmhouse - a place filled with memories, and room to begin anew. There's always something to tend, someone to chat with, or a quiet corner you haven't discovered yet.
Seikyu isn't a place you rush through. It's a place you can return to.

Your days follow a rhythm you create. Tend the farm, wander into town, or follow a path you haven't explored before. Some days you'll harvest. Some days you'll decorate. Some days you'll stumble across something you weren't expecting.
Expand your fields at your own pace, grow seasonal crops, and raise chickens, cows, sheep, and capybaras. Craft furniture and gradually create a space that feels like home.

The people of Seikyu have their own lives, routines, and quiet worries. Torleone, the thoughtful otter fisherman. Sasaki, the well-meaning carpenter who's always in the middle of a project. Nyotengu, the watchful guardian of the island skies.
Spend time with them and you'll start to notice the small changes - new dialogue, shared traditions, and story moments that unfold naturally over time. Their stories are interwoven, and yours will become part of that tapestry.

As a descendant of the Fox Clan, you carry the gift of shapeshifting. Transform to experience the island in new ways - charge through fields as a boar, soar on the wind as a tengu, or slip beneath the waves as a water spirit. Each form opens new corners of Seikyu: hidden ruins, distant hilltops, and sunken treasures.

Cherry blossoms give way to summer heat. Autumn leaves fall. Snow settles on the rooftops. Seikyu lives and breathes through every season, shaping the crops you grow, the festivals you attend, and the pace of life around you.

THEY ARE USING AI ART, despite having an artist at one point. The game is an unfinished mess but others have already talked about that here. What i wanna talk about is the strange use of AI in some (if not all?) of the portraits, and looking at it now, the banner for the game??? and then, proceeding to lie through their teeth about it. We have eyes, either your artist(s) (no name is ever given) suddenly forgot how to draw shoulder muscles, hands, faces, roses ect, or you used AI. I could sit here and point out all the oddities and mistakes, but you have eyes. you can see them, you know this ♥♥♥♥ looks off. I realize this sound "AI witch hunt-y" or whatever but... MAN. THEY ARE LYING. I CAN SEE. I HAVE A BRAIN THAT CAN THINK. these mistakes are not, in fact "artistic choices and leftover sketch lines" Best i can figure an artist did work on this game at some point, but then their work was fed to AI that crapped out the portraits we have now. And before the developer tries to respond with their usual copy paste "We don't use AI here a playlist of our artist drawing!" see my last point, I've watched the whole list and none of the art being worked on there is what has the mistakes. you. are. lying. you are playing in peoples faces and trying your best to fool people and cover up. You had an artist at one point then decided to use their ♥♥♥♥ for AI. I'd refund this if i could. Huge disappointing mess.
I've been sitting on a copy of this game since shortly after they launched into early access, and have been waiting until full release to jump in. So I'm really glad to see they've made it and have launched into 1.0. My reviews are usually on the longer side, but this one is long even for me. I've got a lot to say, and honestly a lot of it is not great. But I want to make something very clear before going into the bulk of the review: I've been having a lot of fun, even with all the negatives. I love farming sims; they're one of my favorite genres. I am very easy to please with farm games, because I'm always just so excited to play a new one, especially when it's 3D like this since those are rare. And I do think this one is doing a good job of coming up with unique things to help it stand on its own. It's natural for farm games to have a lot in common with each other, but Seikyu has found ways to be unique. Overall, I do recommend playing this, and I think I'd rate it a 7/10. But here's a really long break-down below if you'd like more information. Keep in mind that I'm about 25+ hours in at the time of this review and only just started summer. These games are meant to give a lot of playtime, so there are things I haven't discovered yet and things I can't speak to yet, because even after 25 hours, it's too early to know some things. ♦ Story and NPCs: This is a more story-heavy farming sim than most others, and so far the story is pretty good. I haven’t romanced anyone yet, so I can’t speak to that. Interacting with NPCs shows your relationship gain after you finish, which is a nice touch. It seems you get a new cut scene or interaction after each heart, so you’ll start unlocking these pretty soon and frequently. ♦ Transformations: So one of the major selling points for this game is that you can learn to transform into various creatures that will let you do extra stuff. The boar helps you till your land, the tengu lets you fly, the slime helps you swim, the fox can tame creatures. The extra forms are unlocked through mine progression, and are spaced out well. I really like this system. My only complaint here is that the controls for flying in tengu form are awful. It’s very hard to steer. ♦ Pets: Pets are one of the major highlights for me. There are numerous cats, dogs, and other critters scattered across the map. They’re very easy to befriend and take home, and they are really cute. They’ll actually seek affection by running up to you to be petted, and they’ll occasionally gift you things. ♦ Shops: The shops around town are very limited and some are poorly done. The blacksmith starts off as a small cart selling a variety of tools and weapons, and when you upgrade him to a full shop, his stock drastically decreases. At the general store, descriptions for seeds don’t even tell you how long each plant takes to grow or if it is a one-time or multi harvest. Some seeds aren’t even offered; there’s seriously one crop I’ve only been able to find in trash cans. I do really like that the cost of upgrading your backpack never increases. The clothing and furniture shops have very limited options, although a few more things unlock here and there as you progress. ♦ Farming and Ranching: Farming is very simple in this game. Farm plots are already placed and cannot be moved, and you can unlock more with upgrades later. The crops are really cute; they’re big and chunky. As for ranching, I’ve barely started on this, so can’t say much yet. I will note that there are a few animals you don’t typically get in other games, such as red pandas. ♦ Exploring and Combat: I really like the exploration in this game. The map is pretty big, although you can’t access it all right away. There’s a lot of forage to find, and a lot of treasure chests to discover. There’s also tons of monsters hanging around, both in the world and in the mines, and honestly the combat in this game really reminds me of Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma, in that it’s frequent and simple, and you can eventually tame the monsters (which I haven’t tried yet). ♦ Customization: This is a super weak area in this game. There are a small number of hair style options, NONE of which are curly. You’re basically only able to change colors for skin, hair, and eyes. No face or body customization or presets, and there’s only one outfit to start with. There are very few other outfits to get later. I know you can craft some from your farm, but I’m only just getting to a point where I have the materials to craft the crafters, so I don’t know yet how much they offer. ♦ Decorating: You can’t really design much outside of your farm. Farm plots are predesignated. You can decide where to place your crafters and ranch buildings, but that’s it. You can freely place these as well as decorations which is nice, but I do wish you could toggle on a grid as well to help line things up. But weirdly enough, even though there is free placement, you can only rotate by 90 degrees which is frustrating. I also just haven’t seen a lot of options for furniture and decorations. There’s an achievement related to placing 200 pieces of furniture, but I’m genuinely baffled on where to get 200 pieces because it’s not from the shop, unless a lot more will unlock later. ♦ Fishing and Mining: The fishing is a simple tug-of-war and it’s nice that you can fish anywhere and don’t need to look for particular spots. And I actually really like the mining in this game. You’re going through tunnels room by room, and each room is cleared either through combat or hitting ores/rocks. There’s some light puzzling, and some areas you’ll have to double back to after learning new abilities. It’s also heavily tied to the story, so it gives you even more reason to progress. ♦ Crafting: One of my biggest complaints in this game is that crafting doesn’t draw directly from storage. It’s 2026, I feel like that should just be standard now. I do like that there aren’t a ton of different crafters, because some games give you so many and it feels like a chore to craft. This game keeps it simple. There are a few crafters for processing food, and a few of them are fine (wine and beer), but pickling drives me nuts because it requires stones which feels like a waste of time and resources, and drying fish pissed me off so much. Drying fish is one of my favorite money makers in farming games because I spend a lot of time fishing, but in this game you will actually lose out on money by doing this, so don’t bother. I do like that some stuff can be crafted from your bag as well. ♦ Performance: Overall the game ran fine, and the graphics look good. There is a lot of pop-in for me while playing the highest graphics setting. But this game has a weirdly high number of bugs for being in full release. On several occasions, being hit by an enemy caused me to shoot across the map. Pets have a lot of pathing issues and will often somehow end up on my roof. Items straight up disappearing from my bag after picking them up. Various other things here and there. Hopefully future patches will continue to fix things. ♦ Shrine: There is a deity featured in the story, and she has a shrine. You can make small money offerings at the shrine to increase relationship… but only with one NPC for some reason. But one of my favorite things is the system where you offer crops, forageables, fish, etc. to the shrines to complete various bundles. It’s very much like Coral Island. I like systems like this that give an extra sense of purpose for gathering items in the world. Congrats if you made it all the way through that! I might make edits in the future for typos, and I often remember stuff later I wanted to talk about, so I might add even more.
As many others have said, this game doesn't not feel like a 1.0 full release. I bought the game in the 2025 Winter Sale but held off for full release but now I don't even know why I did that because there's a ton of bugs still, a lot of controls and combat just feel wonky, and some things run poorly especially loading screens (I've tried on PC and Steam Deck both). But my main complaint is that it just feels a bit lifeless. I expected more energy and life to the game but overall it just feels lonely and empty to me. You start the game with a ton of dialogue and some lore then it just drops off pretty much. There's not really any interesting conversations with characters outside of their relationship events, they all pretty much just hang out in the same spot all the time and that's if they even leave their houses at all. The map is big, but overall you have no interest in even exploring it. It's very fun and cute initially, but gets stale pretty quickly because it just feels soulless. None of the characters really grabbed me, the story hasn't grabbed me, I just don't really feel motivated to even beat the game. I really wanted to like this game, and I hope they add more to it, but as of right now, I can't really recommend it compared to the many other games in this genre. Also want to add, locking the blacksmith behind a relationship level before you can craft better equipment is an ABYSMAL move.
If you love the Rune Factory series, you are gonna LOVE this game. It is has the potential to go above and beyond R.F. at this point... It's pretty hard to come by cozy adventure games that stack up to R.F., imo. Most fail to check all the boxes, and typically fall short in some major aspect. This game seems to have it all, and delivers them with a modern game engine and visually pleasing graphics. (often times games will one or the other, not both.) The game did just recently release v1.0, so there is still plenty of room for improvement and polishing, but I truly have high hopes for it. Especially after playing the beta/early access and seeing the impressive changes brought in with the v1.0 updates.
It...wasn't ready. I listened to the reviews and pressed on but I came across soft locks, npcs who get lost, the dungeon mechanics are...really unintuitive, dialogue is really strange and the way the relationship system works is just odd and the sequence of events makes absolutely no sense. A lot of folks said that there is a lot to do in this game, but there really isn't. This needed way more time in the oven and I feel a bit dumb for believing in these reviews, was really hoping for an alternative to Guardians of Azuma cause that game didn't click with me either. Can't even refund either cause I pushed for too long. Stay away from this one for now, it needs way more attention, definitely not worth of a 1.0 release. Also, its not very well optimized.
To be honest, I think this game is highly overrated. Before buying it, I read a lot of positive reviews and thought I was about to play something special. The way people talked about the game set my expectations very high. However, after actually playing it, I was left wondering what all the praise was about. The game feels very basic and not really ready yet in terms of features and content. 1. For a game where stores only open at specific times, there is no clear indicator showing when a store is open. The only way to find out is by asking around. 2. The collision and obstacle logic often doesn't match the visual appearance of objects, making movement and interactions feel inconsistent. 3. There is very little equipment available despite the game having many equipment slots, and the highest-tier gear can simply be purchased from a store. 4. The game allows players to freely place decorations and tools such as furnaces, yet there is no alignment or snapping system to help keep everything organized and visually appealing. 5. And many other issues that make the game feel unfinished. Overall, I feel this game was released as version 1.0 too early. Based on the reviews, I expected much more, but after playing it myself, I found it far less impressive than people made it sound. If I had to rate it, I would give it a **3/10**. The game has some potential, but in its current state, it feels unfinished and nowhere near deserving of the level of praise it receives.
Feels underbaked for a 1.0. Suggest to wait this one out till further releases
Kind of like a half finished Rune Factory I guess? You can run around picking stuff up but you dont have any use for most of it. You can grow a couple things but theres really no point because you really dont need money for anything. NPCs seem like they're supposed to have some kind of schedule but they usually just face a wall and keep trying to walk through it then teleport to a different spot when a certain time hits. Its like they tested every feature for about 3 seconds then said its perfect if it just repeats that way forever.
This game uses AI generated art (stolen without credit or compensation from real artists) and is not transparent about that fact. I was incredibly disappointed to find such low quality, cheap, stolen work.
bought this on release, blatantly uses ai assisted artwork and does not disclose this. refunded it the same day i bought it. it's obvious the team is talented, but they clearly must have used ai in some of the art sprite process because you can tell based on weird artifacts and the fact that they HAVE used ai on previous game(s) afiak. not to mention utterly poor performance when i initially played it. not sure about now. not to mention a female protagonist was only added because stretch goals were reached - which is odd.
