Smart, funny and effortlessly nostalgic. Rose Seed Replica hooks you in early and takes you on an intergalactic journey full of love, adventure, meaning and heart. It's easy to see this game is a labour of love. The creator has done an excellent job. Congratulations on this momentous achievement LezLiz.
There is a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ content here, all violently gay and I love it. I beat it twice and still have more stuff to do. Honestly the appeal outside of Lesbian circles is limited, but for those who it does interest, 15$ is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steal. I'm honestly suprised my heart hasn't exploded from all the gayness.
There is one word to describe this game perfectly: Awkward. It's not bad, or unlikable, but it just felt awkward and strange to me - nothing like the feel-good that was promised on the Steam page. On one hand, I had the impression that "awkward" was a good fit for the theme of the game. A big part of the story was self-discovery and trying to fit into a world that wasn't designed for you. And I think the game treats this well and and has the right kind of attitude towards the difficulties of someone trying hard to fit in. On the other hand, the artwork and writing seem like they were done by a high-school student, and the pacing and setting just feel strange, unrealistic and forced. If there was a neutral review option, I think it would fit this game perfectly. It's neither good nor bad - it just wasn't what I was expecting it to be.

This game is 99% reading dialogs, some exploration and 1-2 minigames (at least during my first run). So, how good are the dialogs?I'd say for me it's a bit of a mixed bag.

While staying free of spoilers, topics vary a lot and go into surprising sci-fy and philosophical areas. But it is also a lot about flirting and dating. Girls dating girls, that is. Unfortunately, at least for me the characters are a bit flat and seem unreal. Like, they are not real people but props to express opinions and ideas.

After playing through the first time, I was motivated to find out more endings and try to get some of the achievements.

The art is very simple, even for an indie title. I think I would have liked some more depth to the ambience sounds and sound effects, especially. But it didn't distract too much from the story.

Overall it's a fun story, has some cool ideas to think about like in an episode of StarTrek:TNG or something. And it's very gay and inclusive in a cute way.

I recommend.
I played this game straight through, making my choices and giving it all my attention before I went and wrote a review. So, this game is truly fun. It's a point and click visual novel. Odd, yes, but it flows really smoothly through the game. I haven't gotten all the achievements yet, and I can't wait to replay it and get more and different stories! It really does have a ton of replay value in that aspect. It's very adorably drawn, and animated, and it's just guided enough that I didn't get stuck anywhere pointing and clicking at everything and anything trying to find what to do next. TL:DR if you want a really sweet romance with lesbians in space and a bit of mystery, GET THIS GAME. It's amazing!
Both a heartfelt and earnest game about two women in love, and a subversively deep meditation on what it means to be human. This game genuinely made me reexamine some lifelong assumptions. It's also very cute, and obviously a labor of love. The art is gorgeous, and the music is very pleasant - it feels like the aural equivalent of a nice rambling walk. And it's surprisingly ambitious! There's a ton of branching paths, which I wasn't expecting. I definitely want to replay it to get the other routes and hear all the other dialogue. I also want to mention how impressed I was with the structure of the game mechanically. It's pretty simple - basically, time passes as you walk around and do things and eventually you need to go to bed - but it's a really powerful framing device. You get to see the other characters go about their days as you go about yours, and conversations often result from running into them in a very natural way. It's real clever. In short: it's a gem of a game. I'm going to be thinking about it for a while to come.
Maybe its because i'm an old fart, who played point and click adventure games from their very beginning (well, video games in general from their very beginning, but who's counting?) but this game hit all those point and click "feels" for me. I'm also a sucker for a lez love story, so ...this game has a lot going for it in my book. It and the dialogue could have used some polishing up, but it feels like a labor of love, and I truly appreciate that and I plan on supporting this dev as a result. That being said, I can see where some people might not like the game - people who need cutting edge graphics, graphic sex scenes (I dont object to these, but only if the plot calls for it AND the characters look like adults), or who dont have the patience for a bit of awkward dialogue. Personally I LIKED the quirky/older graphics - the characters were obviously adults (unlike some VNs where the characters look like precious moments characters with boobs), and some of the more "realistic" looking characters in other games look like soul-less store mannequins - I much prefer this approach, but its a personal preference. It does feel like the characters are more a vehicle for a message (some of the dialogue is incredibly out there and stilted - it still does get some good points across), but there is s a lot to think about. Its likely not going to score points with fans of the great philosophers, but even f you disagree with everything said, there are still things to think about. I have zero regrets about picking up this game, and I'm still hunting for all the achs (which is a shocker - normally I can clean up adventure games in a couple playthroughs/a few hours but theres a few achs in here that have me stumped which makes me insanely happy - most point and click games are just too easy anymore. My only real issue is the dialogue in a few places, awkward conversations that dont really flow. I still have really enjoyed it though and I'll be watching for the next game by this dev. Overall, good job! :) ps and some of the goofy humor is totally my better half and I, which makes it even more endearing :)
i like the story
