DO NOT BUY!!!!!! What there is of a game is good but it's been abandoned and there are a ton of issues. Metaprogression doesn't work for most of the systems and bugs will end a run or delete your save. Specifically the "run" counter that unlocks characters doesn't work, I have no idea what it's counting but it took way more clears than it would say to unlock characters. There is a weapon upgrade currency that seems to only come from beating a boss the first time, but there are only a couple bosses and the weapons take a ton of leveling to unlock all their perks. I dumped everything into one weapon and didn't even finish it. There is some pumpkin coin vendor who you get coins for only from the rat quests, I think? They're super rare for what seems a basic progression system. There's also some resource guy who seemingly does nothing, he just gives you quests to find stuff and then nothing happens.
The game is fun if you can get it for every cheap, but at full price it's not worth it. You can reach the endgame in a couple of hours, long before you even unlock a quarter of all the talents and abilities. After that, the endgame is just grinding for... nothing?
I had high hopes for this game after playing the demo: the 1 buff/1 map penalty loop was very original and it seemed like it would open the door to a lot of build variety. Unfortunately, the game was abandoned shortly after release and in its current state it feels like the final build of an Early Access before 1.0, except that final version will never launch. The 4 playable characters are distinct enough, but other than the basic and special attacks being different you'll find no variety between runs: the skills, passive buffs and map buffs/debuffs are all the same no matter which character you play, so you either get a good build going or you don't, there's no in-between or room for experimentation, only RNG. This problem gets worse as you progress to the hardest difficulty and try to complete it with the weakest characters: the Father and the Mother. That's when you realize how utterly useless is any build other than the optimal one. Laslty, while not an integral part of the experience, the story is unfinished. No matter how many times you defeat the final boss in the hardest difficulty, even with different characters, the story will not progress. No secret boss, not even an additional phase for the final boss, and no cinematic nor acknowledgement whatsoever from the NPCs to grant you a sense of accomplishment after beating the "ultimate" challenge of the game. Overall, I would only recommend this game if it's on sale and you're really starved for a new Rogue Lite.
Don't really get the negative reviews..solid game with new mechanics i haven't seen in a rogue before, and rogues are all i play
Just beat it and really enjoyed the tight playstyle and mechanics. Combat felt great, art was cool, and power up combinations would lead into very satisfying avenues of play. The price point was perfectly reflective of how much content the game had to offer. Only disappointment was reaching what was clearly not a “true” ending and learning that the devs have essentially abandoned it.
Abandoned boring garbage with trash devs
