A brutal godlike village sim that melds the god game, management, and tower defense genres! Fight off hoards of monsters at night, and expand your village in the day time. Inspired by games like Black and White, Rimworld, and Dwarf Fortress but not quite like any of them.

Fun game, but the fact that villagers don't really follow the priorities you set makes it very frustrating. I'm tempted to NOT recommend the game, but I will in the hopes that the developers fix the priority issue.
My partners review since he for some reason can't post this as he's been playing through my family library and doesn't "own" the game himself. He has over 200 hours and 80/113 achievements. "Despite the routine shellshock smackdown from this unforgiving railroading simulator because of a single, tiny, stupid mistake, I adore this gem of a game. It's got quirks, and seems a bit unfinished, but you can tell the dev drowned this project in a torrential outpouring of love. There's only a few things I would want changed, without truly defeating the intentional difficulty, and it sparks my imagination with a thousand ideas that could be implemented if only I were a more capable programmer. So really, my only complaint is that there isn't more of it. Even in it's mostly-polished state, and lacking the extended development and continual addition of new content that Rimworld has, the gameplay of Rise to Ruins has much about it that I wish Rimworld and others were more like. Please, more like this. I would be so happy." He appreciates this game enough he bothered me to post this for him. I haven't seen him this happy about a game in a while. I highly recommend this on that alone and I hope, like him, that there is more to come.

This is a good game. There's deff some negative reviews because you can ♥♥♥♥ up and not know for several hours after... But that doesnt take away from the fact that its a great and unique rts game.
boring grind with bad ai
Both chill and stressful city builder that I love to take my time with. The soundtrack is super chill and the game can occasionally feel really relaxing too, until you notice the monsters are attacking and realize you forgot to build any defences. The game feels like a complete product to me, and is enjoyable, although I admit the villagers can be a bit dumb sometimes, like crossing enemy lines just to get to a specific deer. Thankfully you have god powers to help with that! I have enjoyed my time so far, and will definitely continue playing. A solid 8/10 at the very least.
Listen, if you aren't into long draw out tedious base building games, then this isn't the game for you. You want your game to only take an hour or so? Go play starcraft or something idk. This game takes forever to get things done. But if you love the type of game where you base build for days at a time, like dwarf fortress style, then you will love this game.
This game si so cool, also I'll use this review to share to the world what the dev said on his X account about his new project and the new update for Rise of Ruins: https://x.com/RaymondDoerr/status/1925328193642188807 So please, before leave a bad review, search sources on the internet...
Gets very repetitive very fast, transitions from a city builder to tower defense by day 10 if you want to beat any map. Still very fun for first 15-20 hours or so, but when you start pushing back and walling up, monsters scale up and then its just a numbers game, who has more golems, charmed stronger monsters etc.. Then you send envoys to a new map and do it all over again...
Great game, sadly - abandoned. Can't recommend it, cause dev care only about new project.
