I’m so disappointed. I keep pressing the space bar on my keyboard, but I’m still on Earth.
Embark on a journey of building, battling, and exploration both above and below in this 2D pixel-art side-scrolling adventure, where an unending horde of adversaries relentlessly pursues you. Upon launching the game, its graphics and sound evoke memories of the classic Buck Rogers Countdown to Doomsday on the Sega Mega Drive. Your objective is to combat enemies, fortify yourself, enhance skills, survey the planet, and construct various objects like turrets, solar panels, habitats, and miners, all through a computer interface. Vanquished foes drop essential resources vital for progression and construction. Navigating the game proves challenging due to perplexing controls, absence of a tutorial, and limited explanations. However, the steep learning curve ultimately pays off for those willing to invest time in understanding the intricate mechanics. It's a game that's tough to master, with a gradual difficulty increase as you prolong your playtime. After numerous deaths and restarts, certain strategies become evident. Begin by seizing an enemy base and establishing your initial computer. Utilize this computer to unlock buildings and acquire skills. Erect a save station to safeguard your progress. Strive for a balance between skill upgrades and building unlocks. To interact with devices, position yourself in front and press "E." Vigilantly monitor your health points. In conclusion, this indie gem demands appreciation. For enthusiasts of such games, it proves well worth the time and money investment, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience. The funniest, most comprehensive 2D game I've played lately. I even forgot my depressed days. I recommend it to everyone, thank you.
Nice little gem! Hard to get started, but once you get your little town set up it starts trucking along. Just scratched the surface, literally haven't gone into space or underground. I wish there was a little more diversity in the surface events, but for the price it is absolutely fantastic. Tower defense, exploration, leveling, market places, stock markets, banks, etc. No shortage of how you can set up your play strategy.
Before I played this, I had a big penis, two girlfriends, and a lot of will to live. None of this has changed. That's why the game is so good.
Great game, toxic fanbase
This is a really fun game. Like the other reviewers already mentioned, it's very difficult at the beginning because you don't know what to do, but that's what I liked about it. Essentially I had to start a game, research something in the computer, figure out how to place it, see what it did, die, repeat. Finally when I figured out which research I needed to make a base, I died some more. But then I didn't die. I built more, and more, and then found out there's a whole sub game with deliveries and starting a company and I'm still on the first planet. SO MUCH FUN.
Good fun game, great for the price. Lots of fun for the first level, and challenging. It has a lot of different mechanics and all feel fresh. The progression moves at an adequate pace. Unfortunately, I don't know what most of the buildings do, as there's a lack of descriptions.
when i showed this game to my friends they forgave me for being a furry would recommend
5/10 A survival/building/shooter 2D game in 8bit space setting. Good: - there is a relatively complex system of buildings and upgrades of your abilities - the basic gameplay somewhat resembles Terraria, Minecraft, Don't Starve in the sense that you kill enemies to gather several types of mats, to use them to craft a base and defend it - you can fly into space and go underground where some mechanics change So-so: - the graphics are 8 bit, with big pixels. The animations look okay-ish. Sound is from the 80s era and fits the theme. The problem is however with huge pixelated fonts. The words take a lot of screen space, yet since each letter is so large almost everything is abbreviated. E.g. the names of each resource. This makes the game unnecessarily difficult to comprehend Bad: - there is no tutorial or onboarding whatsoever. You just appear in the level, with abbreviated instructions of commands in the top-left corner, where keyboard keys are mixed with controller keys. While you are still reading through this mess, enemies start attacking you. You can read the game's description on the Steam page to get some idea about the controls but that's just lazy game development. It would cost almost nothing to at least add the very same instructions in game (and write them in smaller font) in a few screens that you see the first time a level loads - terrible controls which are optimized for Steam controller. No mouse support at all! The in-game building menu (you enter it by using the "computer" building) makes you move a cursor (at a rather slow speed) with WASD keys. I'd say that, given that only about 20% of players use Steam controller, it was a poor developer's choice to focus on the controller and optimize the game for it while sacrificing the normal keyboard+mouse control. This single reason will be the dealbreaker for most players. I restarted the game maybe 8 times but still never felt comfortable with the controls. Btw which key do you think closes the building menu? Took me minutes to get and literally pressing every key on the keyboard to no avail. Turned out it's Tab. Btw all of the actionable keys seem to be on the left side, so you're essentially playing with the left hand only. What if I'm right-handed? - there is no way to actually pause the game, e.g. for selecting the building to build. While you struggle with the clumsy keyboard-only controls to select the proper building, the enemies keep running at you or your buildings - many typos, including in the very first intro scene. "strenght", "typicaly" etc. The game needs proofreading Overall, it's a laudable attempt to make a Minecraft-style game with retro 8-bit aesthetics and 2D Terraria-like view. However, making it Steam controller-centric was the fatal decision. Also, it severely lacks in accessibility. Laziness of the developer (or inexperience) may be the cause of these both problems. How this game should have worked: if you have a Steam controller, then maybe the current controls are fine. But if you have a mouse, then the mouse should point where to shoot, and left click must shoot. Building could be done with right click + simply click on an icon in a popup (while the game is auto-paused). The resources could be shown with icons and full names (or tooltips) in much smaller font... I dunno, obviously the dev had a different game in mind - and it simply doesn't work. Still, a tentative upvote since there is just no "neutral" vote on Steam. After all, it's playable if you want to play with a controller, enjoy hasty arcade-style action games and would want to restart many times to see the intricacies it has to offer.
